Jason Liu was very satisfied overall. All his requirements had been met perfectly.
He responded to the manufacturer:
"I'm very pleased with this design. Let's proceed as planned! I want five carriages in total. Two of them should have the golden crowned stag of House Baratheon on the sides, two should feature the silver direwolf of House Stark, and one should be decorated with golden sparks."
The factory staff, including Director Thomsa and Chief Technician Richard, were thrilled to hear that the client approved their design. They had spent two hours working on the concepts and were relieved their efforts had paid off.
With the economy in a slump, receiving such a large order was a rare opportunity. Director Thomas quickly urged the young salesman, Henry, to quote the price.
"Henry, stop celebrating! Inform the client about the cost of each custom carriage. Let's hope they accept it."
Henry nodded and promptly sent a message:
Carriage Factory:
"Sir, the design is finalized. Since your customized carriages use the finest materials and additional features, the cost is higher than our standard models."
Jason Liu:
"How much for one carriage?"
Carriage Factory:
"The price is 100,000 yuan per carriage."
The team at the factory held their breath, nervously awaiting Jason Liu's reply. Everyone crowded around Henry, hoping their price would be accepted.
Jason raised an eyebrow at the quote. A hundred thousand yuan per carriage was more than twice the cost of their standard models. It was equivalent to the price of a low-end car.
However, he reasoned that the investment was worth it. These luxury carriages, boasting superior shock absorption and comfort, would be unmatched in all of Westeros. The nobles would surely pay a premium for such status symbols.
With confidence, Jason replied:
"Yes, that's acceptable. Please begin the production of five carriages as soon as possible."
The factory staff erupted into cheers. Their efforts were not in vain, and they were motivated to work overtime that night to fulfill the order.
Carriage Factory:
"Thank you, sir! Please leave your name and contact information and pay a 30% deposit. We'll start production immediately!"
Jason was impressed by their eagerness and efficiency. Glancing at his phone, he noticed it was already past 1:00 p.m. Clearly, the factory was prepared to work late into the night to meet his order.
Satisfied, Jason transferred 150,000 yuan as the deposit. The payment went through successfully, and the factory assured him that production would commence right away.
After a moment's thought, Jason called the factory directly.
"Hello, I'm Jason Liu, the one who placed the order for five carriages. I have a question about the design."
Director Thomas answered, "Hello, Mr. Liu. I'm Thomas, the director of Gemei Carriage Factory. Please feel free to ask."
Jason explained, "I'd like to request a smaller version of the carriage. Could you make one with dimensions of 3 meters by 2 meters by 2.7 meters, while keeping all other features the same? Would that be possible?"
Jason felt the larger carriages, measuring 5 meters in length and 3 meters in width, might be too cumbersome for narrow streets like those in King's Landing. Having a smaller option would cater to more specific needs and appeal to a wider range of nobles, all while boosting his profits.
Director Thomas discussed the proposal with his team. After some deliberation, they confirmed:
"Mr. Liu, we can manufacture a smaller carriage with those dimensions. However, due to the reduced size, it won't have a bed like the larger models."
Jason nodded. "That's fine. The smaller carriage doesn't need a bed. However, I'd like the seats to remain as high-quality leather sofas."
Director Thomas assured him, "No problem. The materials and craftsmanship will be identical to the larger carriages, only scaled down in size."
"Great," Jason said. "Add one small carriage to my order. How much will it cost?"
Director Zhao quickly calculated the price with his team and called Jason back.
"The smaller carriage will cost 70,000 yuan. Does that work for you?"
Jason agreed. "That's fine. Go ahead and make one for me at that price."
Director Thomas was elated. "Thank you, Mr. Liu! We'll make sure you're completely satisfied."
Neither party mentioned a deposit for the smaller carriage, as the earlier payment of 150,000 yuan was sufficient to establish trust.
Jason emphasized, "I expect high-quality craftsmanship. If these carriages meet my standards, I'll place more orders in the future. I have many contacts and channels that could bring you more business, so make sure to do your best."
Director Thomas reassured him, "Don't worry, Mr. Liu. Our Carriage Factory is well-known for its reliability. If there are any quality issues, you can return the carriage, and we'll compensate you double the price."
"Good," Jason replied. "Once the carriages are ready, let me know. I'll come to inspect them personally. I'm in Zheng City, so it'll take me about two hours to get to your City."
"Of course, we'll notify you immediately once they're ready," Director Thomas promised. He was eager to deliver the carriages quickly so they could settle the remaining payment.
