"Ahem... Ladies and gentlemen, this stab-proof clothing is incredibly rare. Even with the wealth and influence of my family, I can only acquire a limited amount of it."
Jason Liu noticed the disappointed looks on the faces of the northern nobles and quickly changed his approach. "However, if each of you only buys one or two pieces, I believe I can meet everyone's needs!"
"I want one—no, two! Sell me two!"
"I'll take two sets as well, Lord East. If possible, I can pay you right now!"
Several eager earls crowded around Jason Liu, all wanting to purchase the stab-proof clothing immediately.
Lord Eddard Stark watched the scene unfold and couldn't help but smile wryly. What started as a simple demonstration had somehow turned into a business transaction.
Jason Liu reassured the nobles, promising that they could visit his shop outside Winterfell the next day to discuss the details. For now, he would continue introducing his special gift for Lord Stark.
With that assurance, the northern lords seemed satisfied.
"Lord Stark, in addition to the sword and the stab-proof clothing, I have also prepared two luxurious four-wheeled carriages for you and your lady wife! Please, have a look—"
Jason Liu gestured, and soldiers from the East family guided two carriages, each drawn by four horses, into the courtyard. The vehicles were covered with black tarps.
At his signal, McCann and his men pulled away the coverings, revealing the carriages in all their glory.
The sides of each carriage were decorated with the silver direwolf sigil of House Stark, while the top was adorned with a finely crafted silver wolf sculpture. The design exuded both elegance and prestige.
Bran ran up to the carriage excitedly, tracing the direwolf engraving with his small hand. He beamed. "It's beautiful! It's our family's sigil!"
Rickon, still holding his mother's hand, tried to run toward the carriage as well, but Catelyn held him back.
Jason Liu then invited everyone to board the three carriages. He turned to Lord Stark and made a respectful request. "Lord Stark, if you allow, I'd like to take everyone to Winterfell's training grounds for a test ride. I want you all to experience firsthand the work of the finest craftsmen from my Empire. This all-steel carriage is unlike anything you've seen before!"
Eddard, intrigued by the craftsmanship of the grand carriage, nodded in agreement.
And so, Jason Liu, along with Lord Stark, Greatjon Umber, Lord Manderly, Lord Bolton, and several other noblemen, boarded one of the carriages.
Lina and the other ladies guided Lady Catelyn, Sansa, Arya, and several other noblewomen—including Lady Mormont and her daughter from Bear Island—into another carriage designed for the Stark family.
The remaining northern nobles took seats in the third carriage.
Fortunately, the carriages were spacious, and all three could comfortably accommodate dozens of people.
Barlow took the reins, gently flicking the reins, and the four horses began pulling the East family's carriage. Winterfell's servants led the way as they set off for the training grounds.
Once everyone was settled inside, Jason Liu began explaining
the various features of the carriage. He pointed out the soft, cushioned seating, the fine leather benches on either side, and the crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
When he reached up and flipped a switch, the chandelier suddenly illuminated with a bright white light.
The northern nobles were stunned.
They stared at the glowing chandelier in disbelief. There were no candles, no lamp oil, no torches—yet the crystal lamp shone brightly!
"This, my lords and ladies, is called electricity."
Jason Liu briefly explained the carriage's built-in power generation and storage system. He emphasized that, once fully charged, the crystal lights could remain on for two full days without needing a recharge.
A low rumble echoed through the training grounds as the carriages moved steadily forward, gradually picking up speed.
To everyone's amazement, despite the increasing pace, the ride was unbelievably smooth.
It was nothing like the old wooden carriages they were used to—carriages that rattled and shook so violently they could make a man's teeth clatter!
"I'm sure you've all noticed by now," Jason Liu said with a smile. "The greatest advantage of this carriage is its advanced shock absorption system. Even on rough roads, it will glide smoothly, allowing passengers to travel in comfort. You can even lie down and sleep without feeling any discomfort."
"Furthermore, this entire carriage is made of steel, making it not only far more durable than wooden carriages but also significantly faster—at least twice as fast, if not more!"
His voice took on a more persuasive tone as he continued. "Imagine the difference, my lords. Instead of enduring the jolts and exhaustion of a wooden carriage or the fatigue of horseback travel, you could ride in absolute comfort, safe and secure. Travel will no longer be a hardship but an enjoyable experience!"
Jason Liu caught himself mid-sentence and quickly corrected his words. He had almost slipped into full salesman mode.
But even without further persuasion, the nobles were clearly impressed.
Seeing and experiencing the carriage firsthand had already convinced them. If they could own such a luxurious and stable vehicle, they would no longer have to suffer through bumpy roads and tiring journeys.
Many of them had already made up their minds—they would visit Jason Liu's shop the next day to negotiate a purchase.
Eddard Stark now understood something. No wonder this young lord had been so enthusiastic about presenting his gifts.
His gaze shifted toward Wyman Manderly, the portly lord of White Harbor, who was seated nearby with an amused smile. It was clear now—Jason Liu was a businessman, just like Lord Wyman.
However, Eddard felt no disdain for this. Commerce was essential, after all. The North's economy relied heavily on trade with the South, facilitated largely by White Harbor. Their furs, ores, and horses were exchanged for much-needed grain and goods. The movement of trade goods was vital for the survival of the region.
As the test ride came to an end, the Stark children clambered out of the carriage, chattering excitedly to their mother about the experience.
Even Sansa and Arya, who rarely agreed on anything, were enthusiastically discussing where they could travel in such a carriage.
The other nobles gathered around Jason Liu, expressing their interest in purchasing one for themselves.
Once again, Jason Liu assured them that they were welcome to visit his shop in Winter Town the following day. There, they could discuss prices and details at their leisure.
Satisfied, the nobles left with smiles on their faces.
The last thing to showcase was the solar-powered lighting—a simple but effective demonstration that would further cement their interest.
And with that, the presentation was complete.
