226. The Carriages and Equipment Have Arrived

The seven-year-old boy sitting in the living room watched the TV but occasionally glanced toward his father with curiosity. However, he didn't bother him because he knew his father often worked overtime. He had gotten used to it.

His father, Oliver, let out a wry smile and explained to his wife, "I just got a call—I have to work overtime tonight. Eat first, don't wait for me." With that, he opened the door and left.

His wife didn't mind. In the past, her husband worked even longer hours. Ever since he started his new job, overtime had become rare. This was the first time in months, so she thought it wasn't a big deal.

While driving back to the company, Oliver called three employees from the purchasing department, informing them they would be working late.

"Understood, Boss. We'll be there soon!" Emma, Ethan and Ryan responded without complaint.

They didn't mind working overtime since they would be paid extra. Compared to employees at other companies, they considered themselves lucky.

Two days later, the purchased supplies arrived at the warehouse. These included 4,000 sets of dark blue labor insurance suits, 500 sets of field camouflage uniforms, 200 stab-proof suits and boots, 300 anti-riot helmets, and 200 steel swords. Jason Liu had ordered these items as handcrafted goods.

Jason arranged for the supplies to be transported to the castle warehouse in Winterfell's market town. From there, Barlow and his men loaded them onto carriages and delivered the field camouflage uniforms, stab-proof suits, riot helmets, and steel swords to the logging camp barracks.

Over the past five days, more than 20 barracks had been built beside the logging camp, providing accommodation for 250 soldiers. Another 50 soldiers were stationed at East Castle in the Winterfell market town and the pony camp near the castle.

Each of the 300 riot helmets was distributed so that every soldier had one.

Jon, Bud, Marb, and McCann—the four captains—along with their companion dicken, had already received these helmets. The helmets provided strong protection, were comfortable to wear, and offered a wide field of vision. However, they usually didn't wear them unless necessary.

But from today onward, they would be stationed at the logging camp, where they might encounter wild animals from the Wolfswood, as well as potential threats from bandits or wildlings. Helmets would now be mandatory during patrols.

Jon stood near the carriages, inspecting the newly delivered field camouflage uniforms, stab-proof suits, boots, riot helmets, and steel swords.

He immediately called for dozens of soldiers to help unload the supplies.

Bud, McCann, and Marb, who had been training 200 recruits on the nearby open field, paused their session upon noticing the arrival of the new equipment.

McCann raised his voice and shouted, "Everyone, line up! Come and collect your weapons one by one!"

The new recruits, unfamiliar with strict formations, hesitated at first. However, under the guidance of a soldier who had joined a few months earlier—they gradually formed an orderly queue.

The distribution process was organized

Jon handed out the field camouflage uniforms. Bud gave out the helmets. McCann distributed the stab-resistant suits and boots. Marb issued the steel swords.

Each recruit received their gear before stepping aside, standing in line while holding their new equipment.

Soon, all 200 soldiers had received their assigned weapons and protective gear. Even the veteran soldiers were issued their riot helmets.

Marb and McCann pulled one of the recruits aside and personally demonstrated how to properly wear each piece of equipment.

"Did everyone see that?" McCann asked in a firm voice. "Now you know how to wear everything. Get dressed!"

The process was simple. The 200 recruits quickly followed suit, putting on their new uniforms.

They removed their rough linen clothes and donned their neat field camouflage uniforms. They fastened their riot helmets, pulled on the snug black stab-proof suits, and laced up their sturdy boots, which had thin steel plates at the bottom. Finally, they secured their steel swords at their waists.

Once fully dressed, the recruits looked significantly more disciplined—more like real soldiers.

At a glance, their unified appearance gave them an imposing presence.

These recruits were still in the early stages of training. They were being taught teamwork, discipline, and obedience. Once their foundation was solid, a select few would be chosen to join a cavalry unit of 100 riders.

Meanwhile, the villagers working at the nearby construction site noticed the commotion. They paused their labor to watch the scene unfold.

Seeing the recruits dressed in the same uniforms as Lord Jon, Lord Bud, Lord Marb, and Lord McCann, they couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity and admiration.

They didn't understand much about military training, but one thing was clear—these new soldiers looked impressive.

Jason Liu had entrusted the full training of these 200 recruits to Jon, Bud, McCann, and Marb. Unlike them, he had no intention of staying at the logging camp, which had poor living conditions.

It had been nearly ten days since he placed an order with the Carriage Factory.

The night before last, he returned to modern times.

Oliver informed him that the Carriage Factory had already shipped 30 large carriages and 30 small carriages. They were expected to arrive at the warehouse that day.

In addition to the 60 passenger carriages, Jason had also ordered 200 freight wagons.

However, the Carriage Factory had subcontracted the production of these 200 freight carriages to another company. They primarily manufactured higher-profit passenger carriages under Fusion Trade and didn't have the capacity to handle large orders for simple freight wagons.

Jason didn't care which factory produced them, as long as the quality met his standards.

"No problem, Mr. Liu!" Oliver reassured him. "I personally inspected them yesterday. The freight carriages are made of solid materials and perform exactly as requested. The factory owner even guaranteed that if one breaks down, they'll replace it with two!"

Jason nodded in satisfaction. These four-wheeled freight carriages were simple in design, featuring a sturdy steel chassis, a steering mechanism, and four wide wheels. As long as the materials were good, they were unlikely to have issues.

Aside from the carriages, the 200 gasoline-powered saws Jason had ordered previously had also arrived. Two large 50,000-liter stainless steel storage tanks for gasoline were delivered as well.

Oliver provided another update: "Mr. Liu, the three warehouses under construction near the high-tech zone's outer ring road are almost finished. The two smaller warehouses—one 1,000 square meters and the other 500 square meters—are already completed. Only the largest, a 3,000-square-meter facility, is still under construction.

"For safety, I placed the gasoline-powered saws, five barrels of motor oil, and the two fuel storage tanks inside the newly built 500-square-meter warehouse."

Jason nodded, satisfied that things were progressing smoothly.
