Watcher

Grey froze, his eyes darting left and right.

He scanned the area, heart sinking with each passing second.

Eve and the kids were nowhere to be found. It was as if they had vanished into thin air.

"Where are they?" he muttered under his breath, a wave of unease creeping over him.

He exhaled deeply, the sour taste of disappointment settling in his chest.

Why did I have to be right?

His theory had been nagging at the back of his mind, and now it was confirmed.

He wasn't a player in this tutorial, which meant the time difference inside and outside didn't affect him. But Eve and the kids were players.

Time inside the tutorial moved slower for them, and when they exited, they wouldn't appear in the same present as him.

Grey clenched his fists, frustration flickering across his face. He quickly pieced it together: they must have been pulled into the future.
