MP 215: Seek That Useless Goddess?!

A night of turmoil ensured the planned migration was far from peaceful.

Despite the protection of Li Shuwen, Red Hare, and Quetzalcoatl, the journey across the Mesopotamian plain came at a heavy cost. Of the thousands who set out from Ur, more than half were lost or gravely injured. Comrades who had laughed together before the migration now lay as cold corpses, forever left on the Mesopotamian wilderness under the night sky.

Among them were many Uruk soldiers who never made it back to their homeland.

Some died, some were wounded, and others carried their fallen comrades' will, pressing forward.

Soldiers took up the weapons of their fallen allies, continuing the grueling migration.

Then, the crimson lotus flames bloomed.

Half the Mesopotamian plain had been reduced to molten lava under Karna's unleashed god-slaying lance.

The rampaging demon beasts, the sudden Demon God Pillars, and Humbaba's presence had all vanished under that obliterating strike, which even the King of All Gods would regard with awe, leaving only ruins and dust.

Stepping into Uruk's Divine Tower again, Roy's expression grew heavy.

He could no longer sense his connection to Karna, likely returned to the Throne of Heroes.

After battling sea beasts for hours, Roy, just arrived via the sea route, met Quetzalcoatl and Li Shuwen, who had reached Uruk earlier.

Seeing her Master, even the usually cheerful Quetzalcoatl lost her playful demeanor, lowering her head and shaking it in apology. "I'm sorry, Master."

Humbaba, Demon God Pillars, and more demon beasts…

No wonder so many unheard-of creatures had emerged, and the once-favorable situation had turned upside down.

It was all Goetia's doing. Roy's involvement had completely altered the Seventh Singularity's landscape.

The mastermind behind humanity's incineration could no longer sit idle and had taken the field.

Roy said nothing to Quetzalcoatl's guilt or Li Shuwen's sighs.

No comfort, no blame.

The migration from Ur had cost thousands of lives, and Red Hare, leading the charge, was gravely injured, now recovering in Uruk's Divine Tower. For Quetzalcoatl, who saw Ur's warriors as her people, this was a crushing toll. She was consumed by rage, and words of comfort were unnecessary.

Still, preserving two-thirds of the group under the assault of over a dozen Demon God Pillars and Humbaba was a remarkable feat.

Though Karna had likely returned to the Throne of Heroes.

His sacrifice had secured a precious victory, saving Quetzalcoatl and ensuring most of Ur's soldiers reached their destination.

I'm proud of you, Karna.

Tap, tap, tap,

Bidding farewell to Quetzalcoatl, Roy wasted no time, heading straight to Gilgamesh's Divine Tower.

The tower, once bustling, was now eerily quiet.

The citizens reporting affairs and the bustling priests were gone, as were the guards at the entrance.

The scene felt desolate.

On the throne, Gilgamesh, visibly weary, saw Roy and lowered his gaze, forcing a faint smile.

"Seeing you return safely is good news."

"Safely returned…"

Roy shook his head. "No, as a Master, I couldn't even bring back my own Servant. How can that be called a safe return?"

"No… Facing such a sudden crisis, not only avoiding total annihilation but bringing back three-quarters of your people, that's a result worthy of praise. I had planned a grand feast to celebrate your and Ur's soldiers' migration, but now, it seems unnecessary."

Gilgamesh rubbed his disheveled hair, rising from his throne to address Roy below.

"King of Ur, since your city has joined my Uruk, it's time to shoulder a king's duties. I won't lord over you as a host. At this moment, we are equals. Come, experience the thrill of working twenty hours a day with me!!"

"Twenty hours a day without collapsing? You're truly formidable, Gilgamesh…"

Hearing Gilgamesh's jest, Roy shook his head, declining.

"I'd love to stay in Uruk and work with you, but now's not the time. I have more pressing matters to attend to."

Gilgamesh frowned. "More pressing matters?"

"Yes."

Roy answered earnestly, "You've seen it. To face the coming calamity, we need more strength."

"The Demon God Pillars' arrival, Humbaba's revival, the unseen Beast Goddess, and even the Demon God King. Our enemies grow stronger, and we don't know when the final disaster will strike. We need more allies."

More allies…

Gilgamesh looked at Roy oddly, pondering these so-called allies.

With the Demon God Pillars' emergence, the number of demon beasts had multiplied, turning the once-manageable Demonic Front into a losing battle. These beasts were even evolving to counter the front's defenses…

These relentless, locust-like enemies were daunting. Despite his efforts to address the beast surge, Gilgamesh saw little success.

His energy and manpower were finite, but the beasts were endless. The only solution was to strike at the Blood Fort Andromeda, eliminating the Beast Goddess. But with Uruk's current state, even passive defense was exhausting. How could they muster an offensive against her? And their enemies weren't just beasts.

Even with Roy's soldiers, Quetzalcoatl, and Jaguar Man filling gaps to prevent collapse, they desperately needed more combat strength.

Across Mesopotamia, the only potential ally Gilgamesh could think of was…

"That useless goddess!!"
