Chapter 50 – Alex’s instinct

Joanna struggled to contain her anger, especially when her attackers were Alex's extended family members.

With most of them being around the same age as her mother, she found it inappropriate to talk back at them for Alex's sake, stomaching the pain from the insult she just received.

She was not too young to discern the harshness in Agnes's words, branding Joanna as a wayward woman but also her mother.

Alex's expression had changed dangerously, and he pushed the plate aside, glaring at Agnes.

"Don't you think that is hypocritical of a woman who had three children before marrying into this family?" He asked.

The look of shock on the faces of those present was a sure sign they were all unaware of this revelation.

Joanna felt a little better at the revelation that her attacker was not as righteous as she seemed and Agnes had an embarrassed look on her face.
