[WP] Chapter 14: Four Elements

[WP] Chapter 14: Four Elements

The two came to the second floor, which was also covered with dust. Instead of going to the third floor, they looked at the corridor. There were windows on one side of the corridor and a row of rooms on the other. The main building of the sanatorium was in the shape of a concave letter, and the two were in the center of the long side at the moment.

The doctor said:

"Miracle, if you can engrave the [Miracle] spirit rune, it must be a golden spirit rune. All [Miracles] come from the stories and power of the gods. Remember, the five righteous gods are the only remaining good gods."

"Only?"

Shade was very good at grasping the key points and also understood the reason why he first came into contact with "miracles.".

"Yes, there were many gods in the past. If you join the academy, there is this part in the basic course of the theological academy. But most of the powerful gods in the past have disappeared; perhaps they have fallen, perhaps they have left, or perhaps they have been sealed. But in short, there are only five good gods left here, who are called the true gods, and the gods can interfere with the material world, not just a symbol. Don't regard them as powerful ring wizards; they are real, high-dimensional beings. I hope you can understand what I mean."

Shade's mouth twitched; of course, he understood.

"Most of the ring wizards of the True God Church specialize in the [Miracle] element. But in addition to the true gods, the old gods of the past have left many traces in the world. By contacting those traces and knowing the stories of the old gods, with the help of the 'other me', you can also extract the [Miracle] spirit runes."

The doctor finally mentioned the "voice in the head" that is essential for ring wizards.

"The voice in your head is another you, a not-yet-real you, but it is indeed you."

The doctor emphasized this concept again, and the woman's laughter came again in Shade's mind.

"This is the [Miracle] spiritual rune that I engraved when I was in the first ring."

White fog appeared again behind the doctor, part of the brass-colored wheel of fate was exposed, and the golden spiritual rune was revealed.

Shade also endured the pain in his temple and interpreted the rune, which meant [Dust], which he had seen once before.

"The miracle left by the old god [God of Dust], also known as [Mid-World Python], is a miracle I learned about through the academy, so I got the spirit rune."

The golden light flickered and shone on the ground in front of them, and a series of footprints appeared in front of the two:

"But I am not suitable for this miracle; I just developed such simple magic. The power developed by the spirit rune is called magic, and the universal power of the ring wizard is called spell, which will be introduced in the course."

The two walked forward along the footprints, and it seemed that the target was on the second floor.

"But you have to remember that gods are dangerous. It's not that they have ill will towards humans, but that their status is too high. If you come into contact with any information related to gods, you may be oppressed by the essence of gods and be harmed. Just like looking at the sun will hurt your eyes."

The doctor remembered and then said, "Blasphemy, if you can engrave the [blasphemy] spirit rune, it must be a silver spirit rune. All [blasphemy] comes from those filthy concepts and evil gods. But remember, it's not the five great gods, not those disappeared old gods, but the existing old gods that exist today.

In addition to the five powerful good gods, there are also a small number of evil gods. But these gods are relatively weak and are terrible things born from concepts and blasphemy. They are gods and are recognized by the Orthodox Church. It's just that their power is far weaker than that of the Orthodox God.

This is not the boasting of the Orthodox Church, but the fact."

"In other words, the Orthodox God is the powerful good god who is recognized and exists, and the old gods are the good gods, evil gods that have disappeared, and the existing evil gods. Are the evil gods terrible?"

Shade concluded.

"Of course it's scary. Although they are weaker than the five righteous gods, ordinary people will go crazy even if they know their power. The main task of the church is to suppress the occasional evil gods and the cultists who always appear. But the [blasphemy] spirit rune is not excluded. In addition to the evil gods, some knowledge of the Fourth Epoch can also be extracted [blasphemy]. Secret books record those terrible stories. This is also the mainstream way to extract the [blasphemy] element. [Miracles] and [blasphemy] are both related to God and must be related to God."

It is currently the Sixth Epoch. This is not recorded in any of the books that Shade has seen. Books and calendars only record the year. But Shade knows that this is the Sixth Epoch. The voice in his head explained this when it first appeared.

This seems to once again explain the other party's specialness.

"It is now the Sixth Epoch, and the Fourth Epoch is the Epoch of darkness and chaos. It is very scary, extremely scary."

The doctor said in a low voice as if he was afraid of disturbing something. In the thick fog behind him, the silver spirit rune flickered, still only revealing a part of the life ring. Shade interpreted the beautiful rune as [emotion].

"[Emotion] is a very powerful spirit rune. It comes from a terrible story in the Fourth Epoch. I still remember it. I developed a variety of magic with this element. The simplest one is to detect the creatures with emotions around."

The silver light flickered on the brass life ring, and the doctor had the answer:

"Inside, he is afraid. It seems that he knows we are coming."

The enemy couldn't be unaware of it. The doctor had no intention of hiding his voice.

"If the voice in your head keeps reminding you that there is [blasphemy] nearby, don't think about it; turn around and run immediately. This element is very deadly."

The doctor continued to popularize basic knowledge and continued to move forward with Shade. Shade also understood why he only had "blasphemy" and had no contact with it.

"Enlightenment, if you can engrave the [Enlightenment] spirit rune, it must be a brass spirit rune. All [Enlightenment] comes from civilization itself. Yes, civilization, historical legends, religions, heroic stories, and even fictional knight adventure novels can extract [Enlightenment] through certain media. This is the element of civilization and symbolizes the light of our world."

Although it is easy to say, it is definitely not something that can be done by reading knight novels.

The fire produced by the stranger when he observes the world is the reason why he is exposed to the "enlightenment" element at his doorstep.

"And it's not just our civilization or even just human civilization, but also civilizations of past times. [Enlightenment] may coexist with [blasphemy] and [miracle]. After all, the history of civilization cannot be without the power of gods, and gods have never taken their eyes off civilization."

In the thick fog behind the doctor, a corner of the life ring appeared again, and the brass rune [Beautiful Dream] was revealed:

"This is the spiritual rune [the beautiful dream]." It is not convenient to explain its origin for the time being. I have a good affinity with it. Now I will use magic to make the other party fall into a dream."

A little light was sprinkled out, and Shade could not see the specific effect, but he believed that the doctor would not fail.

They finally stopped moving forward and turned into a room without any signs. The room was clean, but no one was seen.

The doctor was not in a hurry.

"Finally, there is the whisper. If you can engrave the [Whisper] spirit rune, it must be a black iron spirit rune. [Whisper] has a wide range of sources. It is generally believed that [Enlightenment] is the light of civilization, and [Whisper] is the darkness of the world. Whisper is almost a natural phenomenon, echoing throughout the material world. It is obtained by contacting the knowledge of evil gods and [relics]."

The detective died from a certain [relic], so when he died, Shade could contact the "whisper" element.

The black iron rune was revealed, and its meaning was [false truth]. It was the most complicated one among the four spirit runes shown by the doctor.

"This spirit rune was obtained when solving the keeper-level, that is the level 3 [relic] incident a year ago. I don't understand its power very well. At present, it is mainly used to break illusions."

Under the brilliance of the black iron rune, the clean room gradually revealed its true appearance. Newspapers and wooden boards sealed the leaky windows, and the floor and walls seemed to be coated with a layer of plasma, giving off a foul smell. The floor was filled with glass containers containing human organs, scattered like an exhibition. After the disguise disappeared, the bloody smell hit him. Shade's stomach churned, and he finally knew why the doctor deliberately didn't let him eat breakfast. Enduring the strong discomfort and mental pressure, Shade's eyes swept across the room that was almost turning blood red and saw a young man sleeping soundly in the corner. He didn't look like a tramp, but a student. His clothes were clean, he looked gentle, and he was well dressed. He sat there with a pistol in one hand and a brass box in the other. "Baid Morod, 19 years old, is a student at the Lorax Mechanical College in Tobesk. A year ago, he accidentally came into contact with a Level 5, or poet-level [relic], and was affected by the [whisper] element in the relic and fell into madness. Since then, his temperament has changed drastically, and he has gradually become a murderer who kidnaps and murders young women. This world is too dangerous for ordinary people after all."

"So, what exactly is a [relic]?"

Shade controlled his fear of the scene and suppressed the desire to vomit. The doctor was very calm about this. He doesn't know if he controlled his emotions well or was used to similar scenes. The two were at the door of the room, and neither of them had the intention of stepping in.

"Relics are remnants of the past, from curses from the previous five epochs. Some are formed naturally, and some are created by powerful beings from the past.

Remember, relics can only be born in the previous five epochs. So far, there is no record of relics being born in the sixth epoch where we are. But if you can find them, maybe a whole school year of practical credits will be enough. Relics can be easily distinguished from other alchemical items. Only they can be attached with the element of "whisper.". There is no way to attach the element of "Whisper" to items artificially."

The two looked at the metal box in the young Morod's hand. That was the relic.
