Jane took a slow sip of her coffee, her usual smirk fading as her expression turned uncharacteristically serious. She placed the mug down and exhaled, staring directly at Karl.

Karl raised an eyebrow. "Huh?"
Jane crossed her arms. "I don't care how much you enjoy reading that degenerate crap, but don't ever—ever—think about trying that kind of shit on someone else."
Karl blinked, confused. "Jane, what the hell are you talking about?"
Jane sighed, setting her mug down. "I mean, you don't need to go out looking for more. You already have us."
Karl stared at her.
Layla, sitting beside her, blushed slightly but didn't say anything. Instead, she shifted uncomfortably, as if embarrassed by the conversation.
Karl exhaled, rubbing his face. "Jane, this again?"
