For three whole days, Zi Huo's body was completely engulfed in dense Formative Flame.
Unmoving within the flames, a silent yet terrifying aura emerged, forged by the intense blaze. Gradually, after merging with the remains of a seventh-grade beast, Zi Huo's power surged, only slowing once it reached the fifth level.
Observing Zi Huo's rapid growth, Mo Yu smiled slightly. A fifth-level magical beast was on par with a human Dou Wang!
Unknowingly, the young Amethyst Winged Lion King, Zi Huo, had grown immensely. Mo Yu mused that he himself would need to work hard to keep up.
After breaking through to the fifth level, Zi Huo's previously soaring aura finally settled, while the Transformation Pill, wrapped in the bloodline of the Seven-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent, was rapidly absorbed by Zi Huo.
On the fourth morning, the immense power of transformation over the mountain was already thinning, with the Formative Flame enveloping Zi Huo's enormous body now greatly subdued—clear signs that the pill's effects were almost completely absorbed.
Seated on a green boulder, Mo Yu watched Zi Huo's figure in the flames, never once looking away in the past four days. Far from tired, his eyes were filled with anticipation and curiosity.
Boom!
In the following days, an intense, searing wave from Zi Huo's body grew increasingly fierce, forcing Mo Yu and She Lao to retreat a hundred meters down the mountainside.
From there, they could see that every tree within the hundred-meter radius around the peak had completely withered—a truly spectacular sight.
"So this is the transformation of a magical beast... terrifying indeed," Mo Yu muttered to himself as he looked on.
This was only the transformation of a fifth-level magical beast with a Transformation Pill. At the seventh level, how powerful would that aura be?
This terrifying force continued from the mountaintop for most of the day. As night fell, Mo Yu suddenly sensed the dissipating aura.
"Has the transformation ended?"
With his spirits rising, Mo Yu quickly turned his gaze back to the mountaintop, where mist, formed by the intense heat, cast a hazy veil over the area.
A heavy, lumbering sound echoed from the dense white mist. As Mo Yu stared intently, a towering figure slowly emerged from within.
The mist drifted around the peak, and Mo Yu's gaze froze on the figure walking out. The figure stood over two meters tall, his muscular body like steel, with long, golden hair standing high behind him. Even standing there, his presence alone was suffocating.
The figure was bare-chested, his face carrying a slightly blank expression. Though not as handsome as Mo Yu, he had a clean, refined look, and in his dark eyes was a dominating fierceness.
The atmosphere on the mountaintop seemed to still. Mo Yu's lips lifted into a slight smile as he addressed the figure at the cliff's edge, "Zi Huo?"
Hearing his name, the figure's initially blank black eyes lit up as he focused on Mo Yu. He scratched his head, as if trying to speak, but only managed a breathy sound. However, Mo Yu clearly caught the sudden excitement in Zi Huo's gaze.
"Impressive, fully shedding your beast form. The Transformation Pill indeed lives up to its seventh-grade reputation…" She Lao remarked, surprised at Zi Huo's complete transformation.
Mo Yu's eyes lingered on Zi Huo in curiosity. "Zi Huo, you can't talk yet?"
"Though he now possesses intelligence comparable to humans, it'll take time to fully master speech," She Lao replied with a calm smile.
Mo Yu nodded in understanding, knowing it would take a while before Zi Huo could speak fluently, but he was excited to see Zi Huo in human form.
With an elated expression, Mo Yu approached, realizing he only reached Zi Huo's chest. The powerful aura emanating from Zi Huo almost made it hard for Mo Yu to breathe.
"Mas...ter…"
Zi Huo's eyes focused on Mo Yu, his face breaking into a goofy smile as he knelt, and in a deep, clumsy voice, he spoke his first word.
"No need to call me master," Mo Yu chuckled, shaking his head. He patted Zi Huo's iron-hard shoulder and said, "Just call me boss from now on."
Zi Huo scratched his head, but even with newfound intelligence, his deep-seated loyalty toward Mo Yu remained unchanged.
"B-boss."
Grinning, Mo Yu then pointed to She Lao. "You wouldn't have succeeded in merging with the beast remains or completing your transformation without She Lao's help."
"Thank… you… She Lao," Zi Huo said, bowing his head.
She Lao, looking pleased, nodded in approval. "Stick with your boss, and your future will be limitless."
"Don't worry… She Lao, Zi Huo… will," Zi Huo replied with determination.
"Zi Huo, put on some clothes first." Mo Yu smiled as he tossed a large black robe from his storage ring. Zi Huo clumsily pulled it on, his tall and sturdy figure imposing as he stood beside Mo Yu.
"Oh, Zi Huo, what's your strength like now?" Mo Yu asked curiously.
Zi Huo's face showed a simple smile as he scratched his head, "That big guy… who chased boss before… three punches… and I could crush him."
Mo Yu paused, raising an eyebrow. "That big guy… he means Gao Lie?"
Mo Yu had managed to escape Gao Lie—a proper eight-star Dou Wang—using the Flash Void Breaking Thunder. But in a direct fight, he wouldn't stand a chance.
Yet, Zi Huo confidently claimed he could crush Gao Lie with three punches… Was his current strength enough to rival a lower-level Dou Huang?
"Indeed," She Lao explained with a smile, noticing Mo Yu's amazement. "With the Transformation Pill's immense power, Zi Huo is equivalent to a top-tier fifth-level beast. And, with the integration of the seventh-grade beast remains, he's likely as strong as a sixth-level beast."
Amazed, Mo Yu thought of the mysterious beast remains. "Zi Huo, after merging with that ancient beast skeleton, did you gain any useful insights?"
At Mo Yu's question, Zi Huo frowned, seemingly trying to recall something. After a moment, he slowly uttered, "Ab-ys… sal… Lion…"
"Abyssal Lion?"
Mo Yu murmured, repeating the name. However, despite searching his memory, he couldn't recall any mention of such a beast clan.
"An Abyssal Lion…" She Lao's surprised voice cut through Mo Yu's thoughts.
"Oh? You've heard of this clan, She Lao?" Mo Yu asked quickly.
Mo Yu knew that although he understood the original story, the Dou Qi Continent was vast, and his knowledge covered only a small fraction of it. She Lao, however, had roamed the continent for decades.
"Yes, due to the serpent bloodline in my veins, I've made friends with several powerful beasts. Decades ago, during my travels in Central Plains, I met a master from the Ancient Dragon-Bear Clan…"
According to She Lao, I learned that tens of thousands of years ago, the Beast Realm was ruled not by the current three great beast clans, but by four.
The three existing clans dominate the Beast Realm today, each one boasting a powerful bloodline and formidable strength. Beneath them are countless vassal species. When venturing into Central Plains, it's better to offend a strong sect than one of the beast clans, as doing so would likely result in an unknown death.
This fact alone demonstrates the immense power of the beast clans. And as for the fourth beast clan that fell into decline thousands of years ago…" She Lao's gaze fell on Zi Huo.
Mo Yu followed She Lao's eyes and couldn't help but laugh bitterly. "The fourth clan you're talking about… could it be the Abyssal Lion Clan that Zi Huo's now merged with?"
"Yes." She Lao nodded, his tone a mixture of awe and solemnity. "Who would've thought that you'd be lucky enough to come across the remains of a beast from a once-mighty clan in some remote valley."
"Fortunately, the Abyssal Lion Clan has fallen into decline for reasons unknown. If they knew you had a seventh-rank lion's remains, they'd hunt you down, no matter the distance. Beast clans do not tolerate any form of bloodline leakage.
"Even so, you must be cautious in Central Plains. Although the Abyssal Lion Clan is no longer one of the dominant clans, any clan that could rank among them millennia ago is bound to have deep-rooted power. They are not to be trifled with," She Lao warned, his face solemn.
Mo Yu nodded in agreement, feeling a lingering fear. He was all too aware of the beast clans' unforgiving nature.
In the original story, when Xiao Yan bought the essence blood and wings of a Heavenly Demon Phoenix corpse at an auction, the entire clan hunted him down, simply because they detest any leakage of their bloodline.
After the fear passed, Mo Yu felt a surge of joy. Who would've thought that a random valley in the Magic Beast Mountain Range in the Jia Ma Empire would conceal the remains of such a powerful beast clan?
The three great clans—the Ancient Void Dragon Clan, the Heavenly Demon Phoenix Clan, and the Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Clan—are all among the continent's top powers.
The Ancient Void Dragon Clan, the strongest among them, is said to rival even the ancient Gu and Hun Clans. Were it not for their clan leader, Zhu Kun, being trapped in the Dou Di's mansion, their influence would be even greater.
Although Mo Yu hadn't heard of the Abyssal Lion Clan before, any clan that could stand shoulder to shoulder with these three was certainly no ordinary one.
The bloodline inheritance from the Abyssal Lion Clan would clearly provide significant benefits for Zi Huo's growth.
Thinking this, Mo Yu felt genuinely happy for Zi Huo. From a mere Amethyst Winged Lion King, perhaps one day he would grow into the feared Abyssal Lion King, reigning over the continent.
"Mo Yu, where do you plan to go next?"
Looking at Mo Yu and Zi Huo before him, and recalling Xiao Yan whom he had met in the Jia Ma Empire, She Lao had a feeling that, in the future, these individuals might all grow into figures capable of stirring up storms across the continent.
"Let's find a place to rest first, then report to Jia Nan Academy," Mo Yu said, stretching lazily. "Now that Zi Huo has successfully transformed, he still needs a weapon. We'll see if we can find some materials to craft one for him."
"Thank you… boss," Zi Huo said with a sheepish grin.
Mo Yu waved it off, saying casually, "No need to thank me from now on."
"Yes… boss."
After their conversation, She Lao returned to his Beast Ring. Mo Yu unfurled his Purple Cloud Wings, patted Zi Huo on the shoulder, and set off beyond the mountains. Zi Huo followed close behind, as if unwilling to leave his side.
Half a day later, Mo Yu arrived at a small city near the mountain range named Shi Yan City.
Compared to major cities like Di Yan City, Shi Yan City was merely a small and remote settlement with no first-rate factions like the Di Yan Sect. Only a few minor groups resided here.
After paying the entrance fee, Mo Yu and Zi Huo wandered the city streets, their eyes scanning the shops along both sides.
Like Di Yan City, Shi Yan City was chaotic. Fights and gang clashes were everywhere on the streets, making the place feel much like the lawless Black-Corner Region.
Mo Yu shook his head and was about to distance himself from these bloody encounters when a mocking voice sounded from not far away.
Looking over, he saw nearly a hundred fierce fighters facing off against each other. The two factions were clearly defined, locked in a standoff.
Just as Mo Yu was preparing to leave, the words that followed stopped him in his tracks.
"Leader Ling, the Fierce Tiger Gang has been destroyed. Hand over the Crimson Essence Copper!"
