**

After Lei Ying's projection dissipated, only Mo Yu and Mang Ting remained in the hall.

Looking at the three items in his hands, Mo Yu's expression froze briefly. He hadn't expected Lei Ying to be so generous—not only arranging a marriage for him but also gifting such valuable treasures.

Mang Ting, standing to the side, noticed the items and couldn't hide the envy in his eyes. He cupped his hands toward Mo Yu and said, "Congratulations, Young Master Mo Yu. To be chosen as the son-in-law of the Patriach and to receive such treasures—this is truly a joyous occasion!"

His tone carried even more respect than before.

If Mang Ting's earlier respect was due to Mo Yu's suspected divine-grade bloodline, now it stemmed from Mo Yu's dramatically elevated status. Being favored by Lei Ying and becoming his son-in-law practically guaranteed Mo Yu a boundless future. Even if he didn't inherit the position of Patriach, his entry into the upper echelons of the Lei Clan was almost certain.

In time, Mang Ting himself might need to curry favor with the silver-eyed youth before him.

Mo Yu smiled faintly at the compliments. With his experience dealing with people, he naturally understood Mang Ting's intentions. "You're too kind, Captain Mang. You've done me a great service. If I ever rise to prominence, I won't forget to repay your kindness."

Mang Ting returned a knowing smile, satisfied that Mo Yu was perceptive enough to appreciate his gestures.

"By the way, Captain Mang, do you know the uses of the three treasures the clan leader gave me?" Mo Yu asked, gesturing at the objects hovering before him.

Mang Ting hesitated for a moment before smiling. "Young Master Mo Yu wasn't raised in the clan, so it's understandable if you're unfamiliar. Each of these treasures is extraordinary."

As he spoke, Mang Ting reached into his own black storage ring and retrieved a simple, red command token that looked similar in shape to one of the items Mo Yu held.

"This is…" Mo Yu narrowed his silver eyes, a spark of understanding flashing through them.

"Hehe, the Black Demon Token represents the Black Demon Army. Those who hold such a token, like me, are Black Demon Army Captains, commanding a banner of the Black Demon Army."

Mang Ting's tone carried a hint of pride. As a member of the Mang Clan, a major subsidiary of the Lei Clan, becoming a captain required more than just a powerful background. He had achieved this rank through years of meritorious service.

But Mo Yu, without any prior contributions, had been directly elevated to the same rank by Lei Ying's favor, an extraordinary leap.

"So, I'm now a captain of the Black Demon Army?" Mo Yu raised an eyebrow, his silver eyes reflecting a hint of surprise.

Mang Ting nodded and continued, "The Black Demon Army consists of eight banners, each led by a captain. I command the Red Thunder Banner, while the other banners are commanded by Lei Clan Dou Zun-level experts.

"About a year ago, the captain of the Black Thunder Banner stepped down due to old age, leaving the position vacant. Many within the clan were eagerly awaiting the appointment of a successor, but it seems the honor has now fallen to you."

He added with a touch of caution, "However, the Black Thunder Banner is one of the stronger units in the Black Demon Army, and its lieutenants are all at the peak of the Dou Zong realm. While the Lei Clan respects strength above all, holding the Black Demon Token alone may not be enough to command them. You'll likely need to prove your capabilities."

Mo Yu chuckled and casually placed the Black Demon Token into his storage ring. "I see. Thanks for the advice, Captain Mang."

Becoming a Black Demon Army Captain didn't particularly excite him. However, since Lei Ying had given him the token, he wasn't about to decline. As for earning the loyalty of the Black Thunder Banner, he didn't feel overly concerned.

"If I can't even handle a few peak Dou Zong experts by then, I might as well find a piece of tofu and end it all," he thought wryly.

"What about this Black Thunder Talisman?" Mo Yu pointed at the second item, a talisman radiating a powerful thunder aura.

Mang Ting's eyes betrayed his envy once more as he explained, "The Black Thunder Talisman contains three strikes from the Patriach. If unleashed, anything below a Dou Sheng will be reduced to ashes.

"These talismans are exceedingly rare, even within the clan. Owning one is a mark of Patriach's immense favor toward you, Young Master Mo Yu."

"Three strikes below Dou Sheng…" Mo Yu's silver eyes flickered with surprise before a grin spread across his face.

This unexpected gift from Lei Ying was truly a treasure. The ability to unleash three Dou Sheng-level attacks was a formidable trump card.

"Looks like I won't have to worry about She Lao's absence for now," he mused, recalling his protector's current state of slumber. "If Elder Mu Gu attempts revenge, I'll let him experience the wrath of Lei Clan's Patriach firsthand."

Mo Yu couldn't help but admire Lei Ying's thoughtfulness. While the clan leader appeared carefree, this arrangement revealed his shrewdness. Allowing Mo Yu to train independently while providing him with sufficient life-saving tools was far better than assigning a full-time protector.

It preserved the integrity of the training process while still ensuring Mo Yu's safety.

"Captain Mang, please convey my thanks to the clan leader when you return. I, Mo Yu, will not disappoint his trust!" Mo Yu said earnestly, pocketing the Black Thunder Talisman.

Mang Ting smiled and replied, "I believe the Patriach will look forward to hearing it directly from you someday."

Nodding, Mo Yu shifted his attention to the final treasure: the small golden dragon exuding arcs of golden lightning.

"What about this little guy?" he asked, pointing at the dragon.

Mang Ting hesitated before saying, "This is the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon. The Patriach captured it from our clan's Thunder Sea, but I don't know much about its origins."

Mo Yu's silver eyes narrowed. Unlike Mang Ting, he had a vague understanding of what the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon was.

According to his memories of the original story, the Nine Profound Golden Thunder ranked among the rarest and most destructive thunder energies, equivalent to the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame or even Void Swallowing Flame in the Heavenly Flame Rankings.

This thunder was said to only appear during the crafting of a nine-tier Golden Pill, a feat long lost to the annals of Dou Qi Continent's history. Even in ancient times, the appearance of the Nine Profound Golden Thunder would send shockwaves through the world, as it had the power to obliterate even Dou Sheng experts.

The small dragon before him, though far from its mature form, was a treasure of unimaginable value.

"Lei Ying sure went all out…" Mo Yu thought to himself. While he didn't fully understand why Lei Ying would gift such a rare treasure to him, he certainly wasn't about to refuse.

"Well then, I'll take good care of it." Mo Yu smiled faintly, reaching out to pat the miniature dragon.

Although the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon was still incredibly weak, likely unable to even match a Dou Zong-level expert, its peak potential was extraordinary.

If it could rival the likes of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame and the Void Swallowing Flame, it would undoubtedly rank among the top three on the Heavenly Thunder Rankings. Cultivating it to its peak would bring Mo Yu immeasurable benefits.

As Mo Yu studied the dragon, it also opened its groggy dragon eyes, their clear and innocent expression resembling that of a newborn beast.

Inside the Yuan Manor, the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon stared blankly at the silver-eyed youth before it. When its gaze met Mo Yu's, the tiny dragon let out a raspy roar before fluttering to perch on his shoulder. Its eyes reflected an unmistakable sense of intimacy.

Seeing this, Mang Ting froze momentarily before exclaiming in surprise, "Back in the clan, I heard that both Young Master Lei Dong and Miss Lei Fei'er had requested this Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon from the Patriach, but this little guy is known for its stubbornness. Despite its small size, even Young Master Lei Dong couldn't subdue it.

"Who would have thought that in just a short time, the dragon would recognize you as its master, Young Master Mo Yu? The Patriach's wisdom in gifting it to you was truly extraordinary."

Mo Yu smiled faintly at Mang Ting's words, though he himself didn't fully understand why the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon felt so close to him. Perhaps it was related to the slumbering Thunder Soul within his body.

Gently stroking the dragon's head, Mo Yu felt it nuzzle against his palm, the golden lightning on its scales sending a pleasant tingling sensation through his hand.

"From now on, I'll call you Xiao Jin," Mo Yu said with a soft smile, addressing the small dragon perched on his shoulder.

Although the miniature Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon didn't possess high intelligence, it had enough spiritual awareness to understand his words. It let out a youthful cry, seemingly in agreement with its new name.

Mo Yu chuckled, pleased with the response, his expression reflecting his delight.

Looking at Xiao Jin, Mo Yu couldn't help but think of the fire spirit Xiao Yi that Xiao Yan would possess in the future.

Mo Yu recalled that Xiao Yan had created Xiao Yi after subduing the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame. By merging the six Heavenly Flame sources within his body, Xiao Yan had birthed a fire spirit—a being that was less of a companion and more of an intelligent system. Under Xiao Yi's control, the Heavenly Flames in Xiao Yan's body could reach their full potential, often surpassing even what Xiao Yan himself could achieve.

Xiao Yi's abilities not only exceeded the power of the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame but also allowed the unlimited creation of Angry Buddha Lotus Flames without consuming Xiao Yan's Dou Qi. Xiao Yi was one of the elemental infants born from the fusion and mutation of Heavenly Flames, a true spirit of fire.

Xiao Yan had only managed to create Xiao Yi in the later stages of his journey, after obtaining the essence of six Heavenly Flames. Similarly, if Mo Yu wished to create his own thunder spirit, he would need the essence of at least three or four peak-level Thunder Souls, one of which had to rank among the top three on the Thunder Soul Rankings. Such a goal was clearly still far off.

However, the appearance of Xiao Jin sparked a new idea in Mo Yu's mind. As a being with potential on par with the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon could grow into a thunder spirit no less powerful than Xiao Yi.

If Mo Yu could fully subdue Xiao Jin and have it recognize him as its master, he would gain a powerful battle companion—a Thunder Spirit Xiao Jin.

The thought filled Mo Yu with excitement. Remembering Xiao Yi's terrifying combat capabilities, Mo Yu's heart burned with anticipation.

For now, though, his connection with the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon was still in its early stages. Transforming it into his thunder spirit would take time. Mo Yu understood the importance of patience and knew that rushing such matters would only backfire.

"Master Mo Yu, since everything here has been settled, I'll take my leave and return to the Lei Clan," Mang Ting said, interrupting Mo Yu's thoughts. He glanced at Mo Yu, who was still playing with the dragon on his shoulder.

"Oh? Why not stay for a few more days, Captain Mang? Is Yuan Manor's hospitality lacking?" Mo Yu asked with a slight frown.

"Haha, you jest, Young Master Mo Yu. Your manor's hospitality has been impeccable," Mang Ting said hurriedly, waving his hand. "It's just that the Black Demon Army, as the clan's elite force, carries significant responsibilities. Now that we've found you, it's time for us to return and await further orders."

"I see." Mo Yu nodded with a smile. "In that case, I won't keep you. Safe travels, Captain Mang. When I visit the Lei Clan in the future, I'll be sure to pay you a visit."

"Haha, I'll be waiting for that day." Mang Ting cupped his fists and smiled before walking out of the hall, disappearing from Mo Yu's sight shortly after.

Watching Mang Ting's departing figure, Mo Yu's thoughts began to wander. He hadn't expected that in just half a month, not only would he establish a connection with the Lei Clan, but he would also become the future son-in-law of its leader. Truly, life was full of surprises.

Shaking his head, he thought, "It seems a visit to the Lei Clan will be unavoidable in the future."

After Mang Ting left, Mo Yu spent several more hours playing with Xiao Jin. When the little dragon finally grew tired, it slipped into the sleeve of his robe to rest.

Just as Mo Yu was preparing to rest as well, a servant from Yuan Manor suddenly knocked on the door and delivered an unexpected message.

"Manor Lord, a woman claiming to be your senior sister, named Lan Yingying, is here to see you."
