Chapter 166: Attending Kanna's Primary School Sports Meet as a Parent

Today is a day off, Kanna didn't go to school and is watching TV on the sofa.

As soon as Kanna spotted Sui, she rushed over, threw her arms around him, and exclaimed, "Sui, there's a sports meet at school tomorrow! Let's go together!"

"A sports meet?" Sui couldn't help but inquire.

"Yeah," Kanna nodded enthusiastically.

"Kanna, don't bother Sui. He has to attend class tomorrow," Tohru chided, stepping in.

"No! Sui, please come with us!" Kanna pleaded, hugging his waist and looking up at him with big, hopeful eyes.

"By the way, what exactly is a sports meet?" Tohru asked, confusion evident on her face.

"It's when we train together to defeat a powerful enemy," Kanna explained.

Sui paused, momentarily speechless. Did Kanna have a misunderstanding about the nature of the sports meet?

"For something like this, I can go alone," Tohru declared confidently. "Don't be willful!"

"Why do you want me to come along, Kanna?" Sui asked.

"Because Saikawa said she wanted both parents to come together!" Kanna replied. "Tohru-sama is like a sister, and Sui is like a mom!"

Mom...

Sui blinked in surprise at the unexpected label.

"Like a brother!" Kanna quickly corrected herself.

"Alright then," Sui said with a nod. "Tohru and I will accompany you tomorrow."

"Really?" Kanna's eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Yep." Sui affectionately ruffled her hair.

"Am I going to play husband and wife with Sui? I'm really looking forward to it!" Tohru chimed in, suddenly linking her arm through his, her cheeks flushing.

Sui felt a bit speechless at her enthusiasm, then turned and headed for the kitchen to check on the task reward he had received.

"The host opened the cooking skill gift pack and obtained the cooking skill: Fierce Bull Blue Dragon Slash!"

The system's voice echoed in his mind.

"Raging Bull Azure Dragon Cut?" Sui mused, recalling that this cooking skill was from the renowned chef, Master Leon from Cooking Master anime.

[Author's Note: Raging Bull Azure Dragon Cut is a skill used on bigger livestock like water buffaloes, butchering all the meat parts without spilling a single drop of blood or juice.]

He began practicing the new cooking technique in the kitchen.

The next day arrived, and Sui took a special leave from school.

"Come on, Sui! Is the lunch box ready?" Kanna, wearing a bright red school bag, eagerly tugged at his hand as they approached the door.

"The lunch box is ready," Sui confirmed with a nod.

"Where's Tohru-sama?" Kanna asked, glancing around.

"Good question. I didn't see her this morning," Sui replied, surprised. When he got up, Tohru was already gone.

"Could she have gone back to her own world?" he wondered, suddenly recalling that he had mentioned to her the night before that the Holy Spring of Elves was gone. Had she left early in the morning to retrieve it?

She truly was a simple-minded dragon. He had clearly reminded her yesterday about the sports meet.

"Does that mean Tohru-sama can't come?" Kanna's face fell, disappointment etched across her features.

Seeing her downcast expression made Sui feel a twinge of distress. He gently patted her head and reassured her, "It's alright. I'll find a way!"

His first thought was of the tsundere, but Erina seemed very busy today, likely enjoying a lavish meal at a high-end restaurant.

What about Elma?

Sui quickly ruled her out; she would definitely show up if there were bento boxes involved, but she would hardly be helpful.

In that case, he decided to call Emi for assistance.

This brave hero visited Sui's store every night. Although she claimed it was for supervision, he suspected she was more interested in the free food.

Just as he picked up his phone to dial, there was a knock at the door.

When Sui opened it, he found Emi standing there, looking a bit flustered as she checked her phone.

Sui raised an eyebrow. "You wouldn't happen to be secretly following Kanna to school every morning, would you?"

The exposed tsundere hero instantly blushed, stammering, "How is that possible!"

"We're going to the school sports meet today," Sui explained.

"What? You're attending the sports meet? Are you finally going to take action? Planning to set off a bomb there? There's a bomb hidden in that lunch box, right?" Emi shot a wary look at the lunch box in Sui's hand.

Sui sighed. "Why does her thought process differ so much from normal people?"

"So, can you come with us? We need another parent," he continued, despite feeling a bit regretful.

"What? You want me to go to an elementary school sports meet as a parent?" Emi's cheeks flushed a bright red.

"That's right," Sui confirmed.

"I don't want to!" she protested vehemently. The thought of being seen as part of a family made her uncomfortable.

"Really? Fine, we'll just find Elma then," Sui replied, shrugging helplessly. He started to pull Kanna, who had lowered her head in disappointment, towards the door.

Seeing Kanna's crestfallen expression softened Emi's heart.

Though she constantly reminded herself that Kanna was an evil dragon, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.

"Alright... I'll go with you," she finally relented, tilting her head with slightly flushed cheeks. "But I'm only there to make sure you don't cause any trouble!"

Sui was left speechless at her conditional agreement.

The three of them made their way to Kanna's elementary school.

"Great! You must be Kanna-chan's guardian!"

Kanna's homeroom teacher looked them up and down with a smile. "You must be her brother, right? And you're her girlfriend?"

"Girlfriend?" Emi suddenly felt unwell.

"Are you a couple? You two are married so young!" the teacher exclaimed, surprised.

The two didn't resemble each other at all, leading to the conclusion that they must be lovers or a married couple.

"Couple?" Emi's face flushed. Was she being mistaken for the Demon King's wife?

"We are here as Kanna's parents," Sui reminded her softly.

Resigned to her fate, Emi accepted the label silently.

Soon enough, the sports meet began, featuring both students and parents participating.

"Hey, young couple over there, please come this way!"

As they arrived at the playground, a teacher called out, stopping Sui and Emi in their tracks.
