I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling as Victoria's words played on a loop in my mind. Sleep was a distant thought, drowned beneath the weight of something far heavier—doubt.

Alex had secrets. That much was clear.

A deep sigh left my lips. The soft glow of my phone illuminated the room as I scrolled through old messages, looking for signs I might have missed. Nothing.

From across the apartment, Lydia's voice broke the silence.

"You're obsessing."

I looked up to see my lawyer who

has turned a best friend, leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, her expression tinged with concern.

I forced a smile, but it wavered. "Maybe I have a reason to."

Lydia stepped forward, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Victoria wants to mess with your head. Don't let her."

But I wasn't sure it was just Victoria anymore. The pit in my stomach told me otherwise.
