The Ghoulish Haunted Mansion: Chapter 4

Once half of them entered, the door slammed shut and locked itself. Alex, Mike, Tom, Emma, and Lou got locked in, while Bobby, Pablo, Helga, Sam, and Susan got locked out. Then all five of them started to hear laughing, so they followed it. When they got to the room from which it was coming, a box of videotapes jumped out at them, and they all screamed in terror while the videos used their tape to wrap the kids up. Once Bobby, Pablo, Helga, Sam, and Susan got tied in the videotapes, they fell to the ground. While on the floor, Sam saw a doll on the shelf. Then she saw the toy put a smirk on its face and raise its eyebrows. Then Sam closed her eyes, shook her head, and opened her eyes because she couldn't believe what she saw.

Meanwhile, Alex, Mike, Tom, Emma, and Lou were locked in the library. While they were in the library, all five screamed and hid while the books flew around the room. When they finished screaming, all the books floated in the air, and all the kids watched them as they fell to the ground. Then the lights came back on, and the door unlocked itself. Then they all ran out screaming. When they found Bobby, Pablo, Helga, Sam, and Susan tied up in the next room, they cut them free and decided to leave since they proved it was a haunted house. Before they left, they heard thumping coming from upstairs, so they checked it out. They stuck together and saw the thumping coming from behind a door at the end of the hallway. Susan grabbed the doorknob and said, "I'm sure it's just an open window or something." Susan opened the door, and they all looked inside. Then, a sheeted ghost with a pumpkin head dropped from the ceiling and scared them. All ten of them ran down the hallway and went back downstairs screaming, but the spirit chased after them.

Once they got to the door, Violet jumped out and attacked the ghost. It also scared the kids and made them want to leave even more. They tried to go, but the door wouldn't budge. Emma said, "It's still locked." The ghost then got sick of Violet attacking it, so he threw her off and vanished. Violet then walked up to the kids, and they all got up against the wall. Violet said, "You kids shouldn't have come here." The kids were all shocked because they couldn't believe what they saw. Violet said, "My former owners' ghosts haunt this place." Sam said, "It couldn't have been just one ghost." Violet said, "You're right. Other ghosts haunt these halls. But right now, if you want to survive, come with me and avoid the doors and windows." Helga said, "Why?" Violet said, "Go outside if you dare."

The front door opened by itself, and then Sam stepped outside. Once she did, she looked up at the sky, and Mike came out, too. Sam said, "Do those clouds look a little greenish to you?" Mike looked up at the sky and said, "Maybe a little. But who cares? There's nothing here." Then, a cool breeze blew, and a green energy beam hit the ground. A zombie came out of the earth when it did, and both Sam and Mike screamed in terror. Then, more zombies started coming out of the ground and slowly walked towards the house. Then they both ran back inside, slammed the door shut, and locked it. Sam said, "Never speak too soon." Mike said, "OK, yes, we're staying inside." Once the zombies got to the house, they started to break open the windows and tried to come in. Helga said, "Don't let them get in." Helga threw a wardrobe at the window, and the zombies broke open and shut them out. Then they moved a desk in front of the closet so the zombies couldn't break it down. Alex and Bobby nailed the door shut with wooden boards and nails. Emma and Lou did the same thing to all the windows.

Once they were safe, they followed Violet to one of the bedrooms. To be safe, they barricaded the doors and nailed the windows shut. Violet said, "Good work; we should be safe now." Emma said, "Who are you anyway?" Violet said, "My name is 'Violet.' I've been here ever since my owner was alive and passed away. Of course, I couldn't talk then." Sam said, "Then why can you talk now?" Violet said, "Ever heard of magic? Once my master passed away, his ghost came here to roam these hallways, and he gave me immortality. In that process, I was gifted with the power to talk. Now I'm like the protector of this house. I keep anyone who comes inside safe from all the danger. And, of course, since there was no one to haunt, he lives here; he doesn't haunt the place. At least not until people show up at the front gates as you guys did." Mike said, "You saw us?" Violet said, "From the rooftop. I've been spying on you ever since you got here." Emma said, "So, as long as we have you, we're safe from the ghosts." Susan said, "I wouldn't bet on that." Susan pointed at the door, and they saw a ghost walk through it even though they had barricaded it. The kids screamed and tried to leave, but the entry and window were secured. Bobby said, "I'm on it." Bobby turned on the lights, and when he did, the ghost vanished. Mike said, "How'd you do that?" Bobby said, "Simple. Real things get brighter when the lights are on, but ghosts vanish." The kids removed their barricade, opened the door, and left the room.

Once they left, they looked around the mansion. Susan said, "Violet, there has to be a way out of this mansion. We can walk outside, but the gates are locked, and sometimes so are the doors." Violet said, "There is. But sadly, no one has ever been able to do it. Instead, the ghosts haunt them until they join them, and their bodies become part of their zombie family." Emma said, "Why hasn't anyone gotten out of here before?" Violet said, "I want to show you all something. Follow me."
