Dave and Nancy sat up on their matrimonial bed. Their toddlers, four years and three years old respectively, were running around the room. Nancy would caution them at few minutes interval till she got tired.
"They took after your stubbornness. Auntie Ella already said you were a trouble when you were a toddler." She faced him.
"That's a lie. Wait, it's probably true because I troubled them with my crisis." He smiled.
"Oh, I didn't mean that o."
"I know, baby." He leant closer and rested his head on her shoulder. "Shall we go drop them with Auntie Ella?"
"Oh, if possible, yes. This toddler's stage is exhausting. I've screamed my lungs out today, and it's not even afternoon yet. Vickie, Martin, shall we go visit Granny today?"
Her toddlers jumped up from where they were, yelling"yes!" Nancy exhaled with happiness. She flew out of bed and began to arrange their bags.
"Please, disturb granny, she'll like it."
"Mummy, can I stay with Granny for a long time?" Vickie, the elder child and still the only daughter, asked. Nancy turned to her, held her shoulder and kissed her forehead.
"Darling, stay with her as long as you want. However, once school resumes, I'll come for you both."
"Schoooolll!" Martin yelled with his hands raised up, staggering around. He's only three.
"Yes, darling. School!" She faced Dave, "He likes school so much."
"Well, hope it stays like that. Once they start growing, their love for school departs from their hearts. It's normal for almost every teenager."
"When they get to that bridge, they'll cross it."
"Mummy, mummy, mummy," Martin came running. As he reached her, the strong stench hit her nose. "Mummy, I pooed. I pooed."
"I already know, baby. Let's go wash you." She held his hand and led him to the bathroom. Vickie continued to pack her clothes from where her Mom stopped. Everyone admired her because she was smart and sharp for her age. Her inquisitiveness made her more smarter than others because she was ready to ask for clarification. She also read anything she laid her hands on.
As she folded her skirts, she looked at her dad, who was busy with his phone. "Daddy, how did you meet Mom?"
Dave paused a bit and robotically turned to her. "Why did you ask, my lady?" He called her that all the time. Except for when he's angry at her.
"Well, some of my friends were talking about how their parents met. I was unable to say anything."
Dave dropped his phone and folded his hands at the back of his head while facing the ceiling. "Well, I'll give you full details when you're ten. But, next time if your friends ask you, tell them your parents met under a crimson sunset and it was the most beautiful sunset in their lives."
Vickie pouted her mouth and slightly paused. "Was it?"
Dave looked at her. "Darling, it was, is and ever will be."
"When will I be ten? In the next six years?"
"Yes, my lady."
"Okay." She shrugged. "But you have to promise me you'll tell me every tiny detail about it."
"Of course."
"Promise." She stuck out her left pinky.
"Promise." He advanced towards her and crossed her left pinky with his right pinky. Nancy came back from the toilet with Martin in new clothes and diapers.
"What kind of contract are you both validating in my absence?"
"Daddy promised to tell me the story of how you both met when I'm ten." She grinned. Nancy, surprised at the request, playful slapped Dave's leg. "Vickie, why do you want to know?"
"So I can brag about it with my friends whenever they start theirs."
"Aww, that's so sweet of you." She joined her in arranging the remaining clothes into the bag. "Your father and I met under a crimson sunset. It was a memorable moment for both of us."
"He also said same thing."
"Really?" She looked from Vickie to Dave. Both of them laughed. They finished packing in no time and dragged the bag downstairs where the driver was cleaning the car. They called one of their few workers to follow the kids to their Granny's house while they stayed back. The moment the car left the premises, Dave scooped Nancy up and spun her around.
"Fiiiiinaaaaalllllly, time for us. Oh I've missed your warmth!" Dave exclaimed. Nancy giggled loudly.
"Raising kids can be exhausting. I've missed you too. I can remember the last time we made love to our satisfaction."
"We can start now. We're the only ones at home now!" He pulled off his shirt at a go. Nancy chuckled again. Dave pulled her closer with his left arm. "Let the show begin."
They delved into the deep kiss. They moaned into each other's mouth, moving around their large sitting room as they find a better spot for their ecstasy. The finally landed on their couch.
"I love you so much."
"I love you most."
