"Out of the way, damn it!" Snapped Raven as several undead creatures appeared ahead, before he swung his jaws open and unleashed a scorching wave of flames, engulfing them and setting them ablaze in the blink of an eye.
"How much further are we from the spot where the flare was set off? We have to be getting close by now, right?" Frowned Ravella, as more undead creatures came into sight.
"Are you picking anything up, Raven?" Asked Celia, as she fired off a barrage of explosion to blow away the undead swarm.
"Hm...wait, yes, I'm picking up Aster and Tacitus's scents! It's faint, but it's definitely them, we're getting close!" He nodded as he sharpened his sense of smell.
"That's great and all...but these things just keep coming!" Exclaimed Ravella, as she unleashed a volley of light slashes at the undead creatures.
"If only we could fly above them...," Muttered Raven, as he unleashed more flames at the undead creatures ahead of them.
There were several flying undead creatures hovering overhead, staying out of the reach of Raven's flames and not attacking...it was evident that they were there to keep Raven from avoiding fighting the undead creatures on the ground and flying straight towards the Undead King uninterrupted.
"Raven, fly up and wipe them out. Otherwise, we're going to be stuck here fighting these things for way too long. It seems clear that the Undead King is focusing a large percentage of his forces on you, I'm guessing he wants to keep you away from the battle against him," Surmised Celia with a grimace.
"Yeah, but...the Miasma, if I'm not down here to burn it away, you two will-...," He began.
"It's fine! The others have no way to get rid of Miasma, so they've almost definitely been fighting while battling its debilitating effects this whole time! A few minutes, or however long it'll take for you to wipe out the flying ones, won't kill us! Hurry up and wipe them out so that you can fly us out of here already!" Interrupted Ravella, as she unleashed a massive beam of light and obliterated several undead creatures.
"Alright, fine...I'll try my best to destroy them as quickly as possible," Replied Raven, as he spread out his wings and flew up.
Meanwhile, about a kilometer or so ahead of the trio...
Aster unleashed a couple of powerful, vertical slashing waves of telekinesis, slicing off the Undead King's arms before a devastating blast of flames slammed onto his back, sending him stumbling forward as his back was reduced to ash, as Tacitus came charging in from his left as he rapidly regenerated.
The Undead King swiftly raised his left foot and began to stomp down on the ground, right as Tacitus swiftly leapt forward and slammed the flat of his blade against the Undead King's side, crushing his left arm before sending him hurtling away through the air, a deafening crash ringing out as his body slammed onto the side of a nearby building, the wall caving up upon impact as he fell into the building.
"[Flame Nova]!" Exclaimed Jules, raising her blade up high, a massive, swirling sphere of flames forming above the tip of the blade, bathing the area in a fiery orange glow.
The air around her shimmered violently as the temperature spiked sharply, before she swung her blade down as the Undead King emerged from the rubble and stepped out of the building, the massive sphere of flames roaring forward with immense speed, engulfing him before he could react.
The sphere sharply expanded upon impact, roaring fiercely as the ground surrounding it got reduced to a glowing, molten puddle, liquefied by the immense heat of her Spell.
As the flames then began to peter out, leaving a glowing, smoking crater in its wake, the Undead King began to reform out of thin air, his body reappearing before suddenly getting blasted across to the right as Aster struck him with a powerful telekinetic burst, before he swiftly shot towards him.
"I've got you this time, [Telekinetic Pull]!" He exclaimed, raising his hand in the Undead King's direction as Jules collapsed onto one knee with a grimace, the effects of the Miasma having sapped her stamina immensely.
The Undead King quickly summoned several undead creatures in front of himself, which got pulled towards Aster before he raced across to get out of the reach of Aster's Spell, before quickly halting as Tacitus zipped across in front of him and swung his sword forward with immense force.
The blade struck the middle of the Undead King's stomach and tore right through him, before he swiftly planted his palms on top of the face of the blade and lifted his upper body up as his lower half turned to smoke, his body regenerating with immense speed as he swung his head foreward, slamming it against Tacitus's forehead and dazing him, trails of blood running down from the middle of his forehead.
"That's enough messing around, it's time I take this seriously," He smirked as his lower half fully regenerated, before he whipped his right leg up and across towards the side of Tacitus's head.
Tacitus quickly raised his blade up defensively, the Undead King's foot slamming onto it with immense force and sending him barreling across to his right, skidding across the ground before his back slammed onto the side of a lamppost with a sharp clang, his vision blurring upon impact as he let out a sharp gasp and collapsed onto the ground.
The Undead King then rapidly raced away as Aster came charging towards him, firing off a barrage of telekinetic blasts, the Undead King swerving and weaving across to evade them and avoid getting caught in Aster's Telekinetic Pull Spell.
He then smirked as Jules appeared in front of him, her blade raised high before she swung it down, unleashing a slashing wave of flames and slicing off the Undead King's left arm, before he leapt forward and drove his knee towards her with immense force as he closed in.
"That was some impressive heat earlier...but you're now far too weak to even bother with," He sighed, as she narrowly evaded the thrust of his knee by shuffling across to her right, before her eyes widened in alarm as he whipped his left fist out towards her.
She quickly raised her sword up defensively, the back of his fist colliding against it with a loud clang and sending her flying away at a breakneck speed.
She gritted her teeth and unleashed a burst of flames from her back, canceling out the momentum before collapsing onto her hands and knees, her sword hitting the ground with a clutter as she struggled to get back onto her feet, but to no avail, beads of sweat streaming down her face.
The Undead King then swiftly raced away as Aster continued trying to grab him with his Telekinetic Pull Spell, narrowly evading it before continued to sprint away as Aster chased after him, swinging his blades across and firing off slashing waves of telekinesis, the Undead King evading them.
"Damn it, my aim is off, the accuracy of my attacks is starting to waver...and with how much Mana I've used up, I had no choice but to deactivate my Telekinetic Zone, and the Miasma is starting to seriously affect me now. I'm starting to run dangerously low on Magic Power here, I doubt I'll be able to maintain Telekinetic Zone for more than about ten seconds or so if I activate it again," Aster thought to himself with a grimace, before calling out tauntingly, "What's the matter, is running away all you can do!? What, did you run out of troops to summon!?"
"What a sad bluff and attempt to provoke me, I won't fall for it!" He shot back, before thinking to himself, "Still, he isn't wrong, my forces have been utterly decimated...and summoning what's left of their numbers would be too risky, they're busy keeping a number of other powerful threats at bay, those threats are certain to rush over here if I summon my forces that are keeping them occupied. I can't let that happen, I need to keep them busy until I've dealt with the threats before me, the Homunculus in particular-...hm? What the...? Where is he!? Damn it, I can't link my senses with any of the undead creatures I sent to fight him, don't tell me he's already-..."
His train of thought was interrupted as a fireball came shooting towards him, crashing onto the ground in front of him and slowing him down, before his eyes widened in alarm as he found himself getting pulled towards Aster rapidly through the air.
"[Telekinetic Zone]!" Exclaimed Aster as the Undead King got within the Spell's range, his body freezing in midair.
"D-damn, you...!" Growled the Undead King, as Aster tore his body to pieces.
All the pieces except for one turned to smoke, before the Undead King regenerated from the last piece, right as Aster crushed and twisted his body violently.
As the Undead King began to regenerate again, Aster's vision blurred sharply, his concentration wavering before his Spell faded, a smirk spreading out across the Undead King's face as he finished regenerating.
He then leapt towards Aster as he shakily stumbled back, before gritting his teeth and unleashing a telekinetic shockwave, blowing the Undead King back several meters, before he collapsed onto one knee, having drained nearly all of his Magic Power.
"D-damn it...," He uttered weakly, the corners of his vision starting to darken as beads of sweat ran down his face.
"How frustrating for you...you finally caught me with that Spell again, only for your Magic Power to run out almost immediately. I've been itching to kill you ever since our encounter in the ruins...but don't worry. After I kill you, I'll add you to my undead army, you'll live on for eternity as a part of my forces...ohh, how I'm going to enjoy this!" Exclaimed the Undead King gleefully, as he shot towards Aster eagerly.
"G-get up, damn it...!" Uttered Tacitus through gritted teeth, desperately trying to get back onto his feet, but his efforts were in vain.
"Now, die!" Snarled the Undead King with a wide smirk, as he began to close in on Aster, before he stiffened slightly as a fiery purple glow shone down on him.
He quickly lifted his gaze, right as a massive wave of purple flames engulfed him, setting him ablaze before a powerful blast of light slammed onto his right side, sending him flying several meters across to the left, before he crashed onto the ground and slid away, coming to a skidding halt across the dirt.
He grimaced as he regenerated and began to get back onto his feet, before a crushing force slammed onto his back and knocked him back down as his spine snapped like a twig upon impact, before a foot slammed down and pressed onto the middle of his back to pin him dowm, a dark look in his eyes as he turned his head back seethingly...
"Hey, it's been a while," Celia greeted him icily, before chanting as her body began glowing, "[Explosion Zone]!"
A massive explosive sphere erupted and expanded around her, engulfing the Undead King and obliterating his body, the explosion carving out a massive crater across the ground, the entire area rumbling violently as deep cracks spread out across the dirt.
"[Greater Area Heal]," Chanted Raven, healing Aster, Tacitus and Jules simultaneously, while firing off bursts of flames to extinguish the surrounding Miasma, as the explosion faded.
Celia stepped back as the Undead King regenerated, before blasting him several meters away with a small but powerful and rapid explosion, a sharp clang echoing out as he crashed onto a lamppost, denting it upon impact.
"That's better...thank you," Remarked Jules, as she got back onto her feet and cracked her neck.
"Sure, don't mention it. [Mana Recovery]," Chanted Raven, placing his right hand on Aster's shoulder as Celia came bounding over, before placing his left hand on Aster's other shoulder and chanting again, "[Stamina Recovery]."
"Ahh, I really needed that...I feel rejuvenated," Aster sighed in relief as he got back onto his feet, before turning his attention to the Undead King.
"It doesn't matter how many of you show up...it won't change the outcome!" He snapped, before summoning several undead creatures all around him.
"Everyone, stay back," Remarked Raven as he swiftly flew up and snapped his jaws wide open, before firing out a massive wave of flames, blanketing the crowd of undead, their bodies erupting into flames as he ignited the Miasma coursing through them, wiping out most of them in a matter of seconds...
