They rested for the day in the inn and packed their belongings in the morning after. Yuzhang's representative had already left for Chang'an. And so, the Wei family had to rush.

They passed three villages and stayed the night in the forth. Their journey was undisturbed, escorted by two manticores, a hydra and a dragon. Marek has stayed with Liu Ju and had adopted little Bao.

He had said that he would hold up the wedding for the return journey of the Wei family. Nikola had teased him that there might not be a wedding, to which the tiger had responded by hitting his creator's nose with his tail.

During the night, representatives of Yuzhang's cultivation sect came to inspect their beasts. They had never seen a dragon like theirs before, and so lanterns were brought to light up the night so that the dragon could be painted.
