As Wei Changhai raised his large blade, the atmosphere on the scene suddenly quieted down. Even the sounds of battle between the guards and pirates nearby diminished significantly.
"Kill them all!" With a loud shout, Wei Changhai swung his blade down fiercely and led the innate martial artists behind him toward Fang Yun.
The nine elders of the Fang family showed no fear, forming a formation among themselves and charging forward as well. In the blink of an eye, only Fang Yun remained in place.
As the two sides clashed, the innate true qi emitted a dazzling light as their elemental powers collided. Waves of air swept through the surrounding space, forcing the nearby guards and pirates to dodge away to avoid getting caught up in the battle of the innate martial artists.
Fang Yun took a deep breath to steady his mind and looked at the innate martial artists fighting fiercely. He knew he had to act quickly; otherwise, the nine elders wouldn't be able to withstand the onslaught of so many innate martial artists.
Looking out, he saw that the nine elders had formed a circular formation, which meant that the 25 innate martial artists from the pirates could only surround them from the outside, forming another larger circle. Because of the limited space of the circle, nearly ten innate martial artists had to remain on the outskirts, looking for an opportunity to rush in or to replace the innate martial artists inside.
These ten innate martial artists became Fang Yun's targets.
Suddenly, a fire attribute talisman appeared in Fang Yun's hand. His internal energy slightly turned, causing the talisman to glow brightly. A wave of energy emanated from the talisman, and Fang Yun immediately understood that this was a method of directional guidance within the talisman. In other words, once the talisman was activated, it could fly under the influence of his mind rather than being thrown out directly after activation.
Fang Yun subconsciously probed into the talisman and glanced at the group of clustered innate martial artists. The talisman flew toward them at high speed, rapidly igniting and transforming into a fist-sized deep red fireball.
The innate martial artists in the crowd only felt a heat wave coming towards them; before they had time to turn and look, the fireball landed among them, exploding like a rocket. In an instant, five or six people were blasted away, while flames erupted on the bodies of others.
The tremendous noise made all the innate martial artists engaged in battle, as well as the guards on the other side, stop fighting and look towards Fang Yun, who was still at the other end of the beach.
"A cultivator? You Fang family managed to cultivate a new one so quickly?" Wei Changhai said in disbelief as he looked at Fang Yun.
Fang Yun didn't answer his question; instead, he observed the innate martial artists who were engulfed in flames, desperately trying to dive into the sea, along with those who had been blown away and were lying motionless. Regardless of whether they were dead or alive, they had surely lost their fighting capability. This single attack had effectively eliminated half of the pirates' combat strength.
Fang Yun was very satisfied with the power of the talisman in his hand. However, it was evident that just one talisman wouldn't be enough to break the pirates' spirit.
Thus, another fire attribute talisman appeared in his hand.
"Elders, move aside!" Fang Yun shouted, and with a flash of light, the talisman transformed into another fireball aimed at Wei Changhai, intending to eliminate the pirate leader directly.
Upon hearing Fang Yun's words, the clan elders immediately ran to the side to avoid interfering with Fang Yun's talisman.
Wei Changhai, targeted by Fang Yun, changed color as he saw the fireball flying towards him. He knew that with his strength, he could never withstand such a fireball.
Desperately, he executed a movement technique, dodging the fireball while quickly leaping towards the sea, shouting, "Qingmu Shangren, please save my life!"
Faced with Wei Changhai's attempt to escape, Fang Yun simply locked onto his figure with his gaze and then stirred his mind.
The fireball shot out like a homing missile, crashing into Wei Changhai's back at incredible speed. He didn't even have time to let out a scream before the explosive fireball obliterated him instantly.
Fang Yun shook his head regretfully. The innate martial artists around Wei Changhai had seen the danger when Fang Yun instructed the elders to retreat, causing them to flee and resulting in the fireball technique only killing Wei Changhai. It was quite a waste.
Next, Fang Yun's gaze locked onto a frail middle-aged scholar who had leaped from the large ship to the beach. This person must be the Qingmu Shangren that Wei Changhai had mentioned. It was unexpected that, despite having such a significant advantage, they still sought out a cultivator for assistance. They were truly cautious.
Qingmu Shangren assessed the destruction caused by Fang Yun's two fireball techniques, his expression growing serious. He knew that if he didn't appear, there likely wouldn't be many left standing on the scene. It seemed that the Fang family truly deserved their reputation as a family of cultivators with a lineage spanning hundreds of years. Just two years after the last generation of cultivators had passed, they had already cultivated a new one.
However, judging by Fang Yun's appearance, it seemed he had only just begun his training and didn't possess much strength. The main threat came from the talismans he held. Luckily for Qingmu, Fang Yun was still a novice; otherwise, he probably wouldn't dare to face a more seasoned cultivator.
Fang Yun observed Qingmu Shangren but was unaware of his thoughts. Facing the first cultivator he had ever encountered, Fang Yun was hesitant to act recklessly. Most importantly, he couldn't ascertain whether this man was at the first layer of Qi refining or the stronger second layer. Without any way to detect his level, he couldn't determine Qingmu's capabilities.
This might be a sign of lacking heritage, he thought. While the two were sizing each other up and confronting one another, the innate martial artists slowly began to disperse to either side, standing behind their respective cultivators. On the other side, the guards and pirates noticed the main battlefield had stopped fighting and also ceased their skirmishes, retreating to the sides. Thus, the focus of the scene turned to Fang Yun and Qingmu Shangren.
