Chapter 90: The swamp

Goglina looked ahead. There, at the bottom of the hill she was on, was the beginning of the swamp. The swamp had no name. It had been there to hinder travelers for centuries, and it would still be there, once the two goblins crossed it, she figured.

She looked at Gog, who seemed to stare down at the swamp with as much apprehension as she did. There were many things to avoid in the murky waters.

Ravenous bait fish, which went into frenzy at the smell of blood. Mud golems, which could pop in existence from the swamp at any moment.

But the worst must be the swamp hobgoblins that called the area home. Hobgoblins were not like their smaller cousins. They were more intelligent, almost as much as humans. Add to that the fact that they were sadistic in nature, and you got yourself a slow and painful death, upon capture.

"If we double back, we can take the road," Gog pointed in the direction from where they had come from. Goglina shook her head.
