Chapter 135: The War

From the city walls, the defenders react swiftly. A horn sounds, its deep, resonant call echoing across the trenches. Soldiers line the battlements, their weapons gleaming in the dim light, and the elite warriors take their positions at the forefront. Among them stands Rythen, a spear in his hand as he surveys the approaching army.

"Hold steady!" the captain shouts, his voice cutting through the tension. "Archers, ready your harpoons! Wait for my signal!"

Rythen thought. "They're faster than I expected," he mutters.

Azure leans against a pillar, watching the scene unfold from a distance. His expression remains unreadable, but Nexus's voice echoes in his mind. "The defenders are outnumbered two to one. The Kharaksa's coordination suggests a level of intelligence beyond simple tactics. This will be a massacre."

"Perhaps," Azure replies quietly. "But even a cornered beast fights hardest when there's no escape."
