At the end of July, the tranquil Shinobi World bustled with activity.
August 2nd was Tsunade's birthday, and also the day of her wedding to Shinho.
Given their current status and influence, the wedding was undoubtedly a major event for the entire Shinobi World. Everyone was inevitably affected and in a positive way, of course.
After all, Shinho had declared a world-wide holiday for the occasion.
"Lady Hokage, congratulations!"
"Thank you."
Shinho was greeted by well-wishers all along the way to the Hokage's office, arriving a full ten minutes later than usual.
"Lord Hokage." Samui, having already organized the documents, stood waiting at the door.
"Good morning," Shinho said with a smile.
"There's a document that requires your attention." Samui followed him into the office.
"What document?" Shinho asked curiously. "Is it wedding-related?"
"It's a leave request from Lord Jiraiya." Samui handed him the topmost document.
"A leave request?" Shinho opened the document and scanned it. "If Jiraiya can't make it, there's no need to force him."
It was, in essence, a simple note from Jiraiya. Shinho suspected it was an excuse; Jiraiya simply didn't want to attend the wedding.
He didn't mind; Jiraiya's presence wouldn't affect him either way.
Tsunade might be a little disappointed, though, considering he was her teammate. Shinho closed the document and set it aside.
"Lord Jiraiya also sent a gift," Samui added, remembering something. "A book called 'The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi.'"
Shinho paused. He vaguely remembered the book.
He recalled the protagonist was named Naruto, a name Minato Namikaze favored and thus gave to his son.
"Where is he now?" Shinho accepted the book.
If he had free time, he might give it a read.
In his past life, he'd been quite interested in both "The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Shinobi" and "Icha Icha Paradise." He'd read the latter, but not the former, as its poor sales had led to it being discontinued in most bookstores.
"He was in the Land of Hot Water yesterday. His current whereabouts are unknown," Samui replied, then hesitated.
"Should we have the ANBU investigate?"
"No need, I was just asking." Shinho picked up a document from his desk outlining the wedding proceedings.
As it was a traditional Japanese wedding, the ceremony was quite elaborate.
Shinho glanced at it briefly before dismissing it. Someone would remind him what to do when the time came.
"Is Sensei back yet?" Shinho asked without looking up.
Tsunade had gone to City of Lightning, to meet with Mikoto Uchiha, ostensibly to learn about the bride's duties on the wedding day.
"No," Samui replied, shaking her head.
"It seems she'll be returning with Aunt Mikoto," Shinho chuckled. "In that case, I'll be sleeping at your place tonight."
"Okay!" Samui's eyes lit up.
"Bring Mabui along as well," Shinho added.
"Yes, sir." Samui nodded.
She wasn't upset; besides being close friends with Mabui, she knew she couldn't handle Shinho alone.
Shinho was a Rank Six Gu Immortal, the strongest in the Shinobi World, while Samui could endure immense pressure, facing Shinho alone was too overwhelming for her.
But with Mabui, the burden was shared.
"You can go back to work now." Shinho put down the document and picked up a new one.
"Yes, sir." Samui glanced at him, slightly disappointed as he was a bit reserved today.
Dismissing her fleeting thoughts, she turned and left the Hokage's office.
Shinho spent the next half hour reviewing the documents on his desk, then picked up a pen.
For the past month, he'd been primarily occupied with one task: designing the first game world for the Infinite Tsukuyomi, acting as both architect and screenwriter.
More accurately, he was tailoring the first world to a Japanese setting for easier acceptance by the Shinobi World inhabitants.
The content was a patchwork of games and anime from his previous life, such as Sekiro, Nioh, Onmyoji, and Sword Art Online.
While he couldn't recall many specifics, it didn't matter; he could improvise and stitch together a compelling narrative. After all, no one would dare question his decisions.
Besides, did the content truly matter in a virtual reality world like this? If such a game world existed in his past life, it would have been an instant hit regardless of the content.
By midday, Shinho set down his pen.
He'd exhausted most of his remembered ideas.
The next step involved Kaguya, the game's developer. Given her power and mastery of Genjutsu, it shouldn't be a problem.
Yin Release, creating form from nothingness, relied mostly on imagination of the caster.
Shinho suddenly thought of Yakumo Kurama, whose unique Genjutsu Kekkei Genkai allowed her to make illusions real.
If her power rivaled Kaguya's, she would be terrifyingly formidable.
Shinho hummed in thought.
While her power was incomparable to Kaguya's, it still had its uses. The applications were vast.
After a moment of contemplation, Shinho decided to establish a new department.
Calling it "Games department" seemed inappropriate. He settled on "Skynet," a fitting name considering its leader, the Kaguya, was the equivalent of the Red Queen.
"Samui," Shinho called out, using his Territory Immortal Gu.
Moments later, the door opened, and Samui entered, her long legs clad in black stockings, her hips swaying enticingly beneath her black skirt.
"Give this to Kaguya," Shinho said, reaching out to slap her hip.
Caught off guard, Samui gasped, her body trembling. Her suit jacket momentarily outlined her curves.
"Yes, sir," Samui replied, collecting the document.
"Come here." Shinho lowered his head, burying it in Samui's embrace.
He inhaled deeply, savoring her intoxicating scent.
Samui felt his warm breath on her skin and blushed.
However, instead of pushing him away, she reached out and unbuttoned her white blouse, exposing more of her skin to the air. Suddenly, Samui shivered, clenching her teeth.
She held Shinho's head tightly, thinking to herself, He's just like a child.
Shinho's face was pressed against her soft, supple skin. He licked his lips, finally remembering the matter at hand.
"Recruit or transfer a group of people to form a department called Skynet," Shinho mumbled against her chest, listening to her heartbeat. "Kaguya will be in charge."
"Are there any specific requirements?" Samui asked, her face flushed.
"Requirements?" Shinho shifted to her other breast, pondering. "Find people who can write novels or scripts."
He had written down a lot of ideas, but they weren't fully developed.
He needed more input. Writers and scriptwriters, with their rich imaginations, would be perfect for fleshing out the details.
He wasn't worried about finding suitable candidates.
After all, government salaries were high, and there were no restrictions on moonlighting as a writer.
"Yes, sir," Samui replied, her voice trembling slightly.
"Have Yakumo Kurama assist Kaguya," Shinho continued.
Yakumo was around his age and had already surpassed Kurenai Yuhi in skill, becoming a bonafide Jonin skilld genjutsu. In fact, all his classmates, or more accurately, the Konoha 11, were now Jonin.
Unlike the original storyline, where Naruto and Sasuke remained Genin until the very end, everyone had progressed significantly in this timeline.
"Understood." Samui hesitated for a few seconds before asking, "Lord Hokage, do you need my help with...that?"
"Tonight," Shinho chuckled. "Today's 'sunny-side-up eggs' were quite filling."
Sunny-side-up eggs? Samui was momentarily confused, then quickly understood, her face turning crimson.
"It's time for lunch, Samui," Shinho said, releasing her.
"I'll go get the bento boxes." Samui buttoned her blouse and left, returning shortly with two bento boxes.
"Mabui and I made these ourselves," Samui said, opening the boxes with a smile. "Can you guess which one is mine?"
"Where's Mabui?" Shinho asked, picking up his chopsticks.
"She's busy with wedding preparations and hasn't returned yet," Samui explained.
"This is yours," Shinho pointed to the bento box on the left.
"Eh?" Samui was surprised. "Why?"
"The portions are larger," Shinho teased. "Just like your... heart."
Samui's mind flashed back to his earlier actions.
If she had children in the future, would Shinho compete with them for..? The thought made her blush, and she instinctively averted her gaze.
"Why are you blushing?" Shinho asked, picking up a piece of tempura shrimp and holding it to her lips.
"Thank you." Samui extended her tongue and delicately took the shrimp.
"How's the weather in the Land of Water lately?" Shinho asked, glancing at the scorching sun outside.
"Similar to ours," Samui replied, despite her confusion.
With the improved transportation network in the Shinobi World, the ANBU had access to more intelligence, including weather reports.
The ANBU reported directly to the Hokage, but many matters were relayed through the Hokage's secretary.
