CHAPTER NINE

Lance glanced at the door and wasn't so surprised to see Maya. Phoenix walked in behind her and shut the door close.

Maya quietly walked over to Vinna's side and dropped the paper bag beside her, she was fast asleep. She wasn't amazed, Vinna was a fast sleeper.

Phoenix glanced at Lance again "How's your wrist now?" He asked not wanting to seem unbothered. Besides they were still friends and no pretty girl could change that.

"Much better, I guess"

"What happened to your wrist?" Maya finally decided to ask.

"Nothing serious, just a slight cut. It would heal soon" Lance replied himself.

"Where's the nurse?"

" I don't know. She said she'd be back soon"

Maya felt the air in the room tense, the fact that Vinna was asleep wasn't helping.

The door suddenly sprang open, the young nurse walked in, her face lit up seeing Maya already back; the usual beam written on her face.

"You're back already"

"Yess"

"Your friend is asleep, I gave her some medications. She'll be fine once she wakes, it's just slight fever." she beamed the more.

"Oh okay"

She turned facing Lance "Your wrist should heal in no time, you're free to leave now"

Lance nodded and got off her bed. He made a look at Phoenix and Maya before bounding out.

"We should get going too, I brought Vinna's meal already" Maya said curtly.

"Oh sure"

She glanced at Phoenix and made a sign for them to leave too.

"So you're gonna follow me back to my dorm?"

"What? You have a problem with that? " His thick voice denying hers.

She tilted her head sideways and walked on.

"What really happened to Lance?" She asked

"Oh his wrist? Well he got himself drunk last night and ended up hurting himself with a piece of broken bottle"

Maya paused abruptly and stared at him "He got drunk? And injured himself? Why?"

"I don't know, maybe you should ask him when you see him" strangely that was what he said before he walked past her.

She half frowned starring at him walk away 'What's up with him?'

"Hey wait up!" She raced towards him and was glad she caught up with him on time.

"Strangely you have the legs of a giraffe" she made a playful scoff.

He turned to see the pretty scoff on her face.

"Why do you say that?"

"You walk too fast. Trying to catch up with you is stressful"

"I never asked you to come to the world with tiny legs" he chuckled, tucking his hand in his pockets.

She gave him a playful scornful look and rolled her eyes. The face she makes whenever she rolled her eyes always made her look funny.

He made a turn towards the Coffee Bay and she followed suit.

He made a move at the hem of her silky skirt and smirked at the fact that she was giving in. She drew him closer and planted a soft kiss on his lips, making him withdraw.

"What?" Sav shot

"Why don't we go over to your place? Anyone of the boys could barge in" Kyle told her.

She grunted and rolled her eyes "Fine". She walked to the dresser and picked up her purse.

"So we're going now?"

"Yes let's go"

He handled the door knob and it felt like someone twitched it from behind. The door sprang open and their eyes met who they weren't expecting.

"L...Lance" Kyle stuttered

"Savannah? What are you doing here?" Lance starred at them conspicuously.

"Em----- I---"

"She came looking for you" Kyle said instantly, saving her from the stress of what to say.

"Yes I came looking for you"

"You came looking for me? But you knew I was at the clinic" he turned inside for a moment.

"Ohh right I forgot, don't mind me"

Lance starred at them consciously, wondering what the two were up to this time. He was sure something was up their sleeves but he couldn't fathom what.

"I see you've wrapped up your wrist already, uhm---- I--- I need to leave now" Her heart was racing with annoyance and fear. She reached for the door knob and left.

Lance glared at Kyle who stood still all the while.

"It's almost game time, don't tell me you're gonna spend all that time with me" Maya asked.

"Why do you sound like you want me to leave so desperately?"

"Maybe" she replied without thinking

"I mean----- no--- I was only being concerned"

Phoenix smiled and stood up "I was about to leave anyway, I guess I made you feel uncomfortable"

"No... I....."

"It's fine. Quick recovery to your friend by the way" He smiled glancing at her, before he left.

She sighed as she sat alone in the Camp's coffee bay before deciding to go back to the clinic to see Vinna.

Maya sighed as she made open the door and turned to look at Vinna.

"Hey you're awake!"

Vinna sneezed lightly and sniffed before sitting up on the bed.

"How's your head now, still aching?"

"No, I think I feel much better now"

"I'm glad" Maya beamed "Wow you are all of you're breakfast already".

Vinna chuckled, smiling.

"That was close" Savannah muttered as she made her way out of the boys dorm.

She couldn't imagine what would have happened if Lance caught them. The more she thought about, the more annoyance welled in her; she shouldn't have gone there.

Phoenix heaved sighting Savannah ahead, obviously he wasn't gonna let her stop him today. Surprisingly she walked past him, lips twitched without humour.

Apparently, she wasn't in the state of mind for that, she ran her hand carefully on her brune hair.
