Chapter 16

Catalina pushed herself off the ground. She was thrown out of the carriage during the crash.

Elijah wasn't doing much better as he was knocked out cold from the crash when he hit his head really badly.

The carriage driver, a middle aged man, was already dead. The wolves had already started to tear and rip into his body. They tore off his arms and legs, ripped into his flesh and tore out his throat. The horses have met the same fate.

Catalina readied herself to fight.

One of those monstrous black wolves saw her and attacked her.

Catalina was faster and she managed to roll out of the way.

Another wolf was ready for her, jaws wide open, showing off all its teeth, ready to bite, but Catalina slammed her fist into its ugly face. A powerful left hook set it tumbling and flying backwards away from her where it rammed into its fellow monsters and knocked them over like bowling pins.

She was about to gather and summon all the poisonous gas she could create but realized that her poison would also affect her brother.

She settled for a corrosive poisonous acid that would eat away those beasts' flesh.

They circled around her, wary and careful as she had proven herself to be no easy prey, studying her and trying to get a feel of her.

Too late. Catalina took advantage of their hesitation to throw globes of poisonous acid at those beasts that formed in her hands.

She hit three of those monsters in the face and they started to scream and howl in agony as her poison ate away at their flesh, melting their bones, weakening their bodies.

Catalina didn't hesitate and she launched into action.

She sent a back kick that sent one of the wolves flying back into the forest and it crashed into some trees.

Weaving in between those monsters, ducking and dodging their attempts to get the jump on her, Catalina unleashed back kicks, punches and hell on those beasts.

Bodies were soon hitting the ground all around her. Poisoned wolves withered in pain and the others were just knocked out or beaten up badly.

The wolves decided to retreat and they slipped back into the forest.

Catalina's eyes scanned the area.

15 of those beasts.

She took out 15 all by herself.

Wait, Elijah!

"Eli!! Eli!!"

Catalina dragged out Elijah from the carriage and laid him out on the ground.

He was still out cold but he woke up when Catalina kept slapping him and screaming at him.

"Hey, Catty."

Catalina frowned and got mad.

"Don't hey Catty me!! I was so worried. We got attacked by some oversized wild mutts. Looks like we'll be late going back to the capital since our carriage is totally wrecked. And the driver and horses are dead as well."

Elijah blinked. Then he sat himself up with Catalina's help.

"Lil sis, got worry. We're very close to the capital. Don't you see it?"

Elijah pointed in the direction to the north where the outlines of a city could be faintly seen.

Catalina turned red and flustered.

"Looks like I was making a big deal out of nothing."

Elijah smiled.

"Just help me up, We got some walking to do."

…..

After Arya apologized to Baron Pax, things returned back to normal.

Baron Pax was in his usual good mood today but Arya felt that something was rather off with him.

She looked up from the book she was reading.

Baron Pax looked up, caught her looking at him, then looked back down at his book.

Arya finally closed her book and decided to get to the bottom of things.

"I want the debut. I'm going to the party."

Baron Pax looked up and looked relieved.

"That's wonderful but are you sure you want this?"

Arya pouted and reached for one of the cookies on the plate on the coffee table.

No, she actually used her telekinesis to make the cookie come to her.

Three more books are to fly around in the air around her before settling down in a neat pile next to her on the sofa.

"Nope. I want to go to this party. Besides, I can't stay locked up here forever, can I?"

Baron Pax knew the answer.

"Yes. You need to accept the blood you have in you officially. You are a royal no matter what."

Arya took a bite of the cookie, swallowed and wiped her mouth.

"Yes, Yes I am."

Baron Pax was thinking about the party that was going to happen in just 4 days.

"You can dance?"

Arya shrugged.

"Kinda. Catty's been teaching me but I say I'm average at best."

Baron Pax moved on. Dancing wasn't high up on the list of priorities for things you need in order to have a successful debut. The more important things to worry about were appearance, personality and power.

Well, Arya had all three of those traits. She was beautiful, she was powerful and she had a lovely personality.

"Do you know that joining the royal family and officially debuting will mean that you will be joining the royal succession game?"

Arya slowly gave Mr.Pax a look of pure agony.

"I don't want a throne or crown. I just want to be able to live peacefully and happily. I don't want to spend the rest of my life living here, that's all. If I'm a royal, I gotta face the fact that I'm a royal."

Baron Pax sensed that the conversation here had ended and Arya had already made up her mind on debuting.

Myna rushed into the room.

"Sir, princess, It's Lord Elijah and Lady Catalina. They returned."
