In the beginning, there were humans and there were monsters.
At first, they lived peacefully with each other until that fateful day.
The day where the humans started this whole damn war in the first place.
Humans, greedy for the fertile and rich lands that the monsters lived on, decided to fight a war with the monsters.
Gold. Jewels. Fertile lands.
Despite the fact that the two species lived for many centuries peacefully with one another, greed and materialistic desires won over peace and kindness.
These two races clashed and fought with one another.
A war started and it went on for six years.
Six years of violence, destruction and tears.
Until Princess Persephone finally managed to seal away the demons and monsters inside of an alternate dimension she created.
She was the heroine and savior of the kingdom that she saved at the cost of her own life.
That was how the story went.
The reality was that Princess Persephone's power wasn't to create extra dimensions; It was the power to teleport objects. She could make an object teleport from one place to another from long distances.
So it was easy for her to move what amounted to several hundred thousand monsters from one place to another, to a place far, far away from the human kingdom to a more isolated and deserted place that would soon become Hell.
Princess Persephone was already dying at that time and the effort it took to move thousands of people to one place to another was too much for her already weakened and dying body.
Lucifer knew that much from his history lessons.
It wasn't all too bad in Hell and it was like a paradise full of warmth and love with beautiful mountains, hills and valleys with fertile lands that provided enough food for everyone and a place for the monsters to live among each other and live in peace.
No one thought about revenge on the humans for starting this whole war in the first place and killing their fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, children and friends.
Everyone was sick and tired of killing and bloodshed, not wanting to fight anymore and just wanted to finally start with rebuilding their ruined lives, though they never forgave the humans from betraying their goodwill and attacking them.
They vowed to never have any contact or relationship with the humans ever again and to focus on rebuilding their lives and homes in their new kingdoms.
Those who called for revenge on the humans for the blood that was shed were many but they had no to little supporters as most people lost all will or motivation to fight after seeing the destruction and misery war brought to all sides.
Humans lives were also lost and their blood was shed as well, some would argue, and maybe this was an act of mercy from that human princess, to spare the loves of both monsters and humans without any more blood being shed. To give the monsters a new home of their own.
Some said that enough and enough and that revenge and more bloodshed would fuel that cycle of violence. They will mourn for the dead and grieve for them but they will never forgive the humans though they will not seek revenge either.
Hundreds of years passed like this.
Families were made.
People fell in love and got married.
Children were born.
The cycle of life and death continued.
People soon forgot all about war and humans.
Until that fateful day.
Lucifer and Lilith were the royal children born to a demon royalty dynasty stretching all the way back to 350 years.
Of course, they were like any other royal family.
Lucifer was the oldest and the only son while Lilith was the only princess.
It didn't matter if it was a boy or girl who succeeded the throne as long as they were strong and capable heirs.
The strong and powerful will take the throne as goes the saying in the royal family.
Among monsters, they could be divided up into two categories.
Those with supernatural strength and physical capabilities and those who have supernatural powers.
Monsters with supernatural physical attributes made up the vast majority.
It was those with supernatural powers that were the expectations.
Ability to summon thunder from the sky or control the weather.
To wield the power of fire and ice or move entire mountains.
To cure someone of a sickness with a single touch.
Such powers were rare and only members of the royal family could wield them.
No one was sure when or how supernatural abilities begin to be concentrated into the royal demon bloodline until it was only those of royal blood that had supernatural abilities but it was speculated that was probably due inbreeding and marriage between cousins or even siblings and half-siblings in order to keep the gifts of supernatural abilities within the royal bloodline and not spread it among the general population.
Maybe that was also why they tended to be sickly and be plagued with all sorts of health issues
Maybe that could also explain the so-called "consequences" of using the abilities.
Inbreeding and marriage of close relatives in the demon royal family went on for centuries and it wasn't until Lucifer and Lilth's father took the throne(after all 4 of his older siblings died from inbreeding-related health problems) that the practice was ended for good.
He was the first royal in 350 years to marry outside the family with his wife being a beautiful succubus from a low-ranking noble family.
Common to popular belief, succubus and incubus are NOT demons. They more closely resemble elves and fairies from fairy tales and folklore than demons and they are a completely different species from demons altogether.
Succubuses and Incubuses were famed for their good looks and their ability to hypnotize and enchant people with a low form of mind control.
Lucifer and Lilith's mother was no exception.
A beauty who dominated the social circles and caused a storm in the high classes of Hell when she debuted.
She was so beautiful that both men and women fell in love with her at first sight.
A single look from her and you were a goner.
The king of Hell was smitten by her beauty, charms and her personality and, after 3 years of courtship and dating, they married in a wedding straight out of a romantic fairytale.
It seemed like life was good and it only got better after the birth of a prince a year after the wedding.
But tragedy struck when the queen died only a few months after giving birth to the princess.
It wasn't anything to do with the birth itself or that she died in childbirth.
It was the fact that the queen was diagnosed with a terminal illness 2 months after giving birth to Lilith.
In three months, she was dead. No doctor or healer could save her and all they could do was relieve her pain and suffering in the final few moments of her life.
She left behind a heartbroken husband, a 5 year old son and a newborn baby girl.
It was said that it rained for three days straight in the kingdom of Hell because of the king's grief and anguish over his wife's death.
Lucifer and Lilth grew up well under the care and love of their widowed father who swore never to marry again.
Everything seemed so well and normal.
Years went by and Lucifer and Lilth were growing up and the two siblings were close with each other and with their father.
To the outside eye, it seemed like such a happy and loving family.
But tragedy and misfortune struck the family.
It all started when the king started to go mad.
