Arya screamed as a hand shot out from the rubble.
She nearly fell down onto her butt.
Catalina, alarmed by the sounds of her master screams, was quick to prepare herself to protect her master.
"My princess, you….oh, a survivor."
Arya nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed that she overreacted.
"Let's get this person out of here."
Arya used her telekinesis to pull the person out of the rubble…to find out that it was Matthew.
Matthew looked a little roughed up and dirty but in good condition otherwise.
He looked a bit sheepish but more scared when he saw Arya.
"Hello, your highness."
Arya forced a smile.
"Hello, you asshole. I'm glad to see you survived."
He didn't sense the sarcasm in her voice.
"Oh, my princess, I always knew you were such a kind person."
Arya's forced smile grew a tad bit bigger.
She crossed her arms in front of her chest and cocked her head to the side.
"Yes, nice. Just not nice to people like you who take advantage of others in bad times like this. Using food to get people to obey you like trained dogs."
Matthew had nothing to say to that as it was all true.
Catalina stood by Arya's side as she held up the torch.
Not sure where this was going but she trusted Arya.
Arya smirked.
"Justice has to be served, don't you think? How about letting the people you tormented and bullied decide for you? I'm tired and wiped out. I'm going to get some sleep."
Matthew looked like he was going through all five stages of grief at once.
….
Lilith couldn't go back to sleep now after she woke up from that nightmare.
Lucifer, on the other hand, was sleeping like the dead. Of course, he was a heavy sleeper.
Lilth scanned the small group huddled together. All the kids were sleeping well and they looked peaceful though a few tossed and turned in their sleep.
A soft rustle could be heard. It sounded like someone was moving through the bushes or the rustling of clothes.
It could have just been the wind but there was no wind.
It could have just been some wild animal but Lilith hadn't seen a single animal in this forest.
She went quiet.
The sound of voices could be heard. One male and one female wearing black from head to toe with faces covered up.
"Kill the prince and princess…."
"Yes, they have to die. The king is mad and he will soon die from the poison."
"But to ensure she sits on the throne, those two brats need to die."
Lilith clasped her hands to her mouth to stop herself from screaming.
Chapter 70
Lilith quickly summoned as many butterflies as she could.
It was putting a strain on her body but her butterflies were her weapons and she would feel safer if she had them around her.
Should she try to wake up Lucifer and the others?
Maybe not.
She should take care of this on her own.
The marking on her right hand started to glow and shine and she saw two butterflies, a gold one and a pure black one, blossom and fly out of her right arm. Then a flash of pain in her right arm almost took her off guard and she stumbled back a little, holding her right arm until the pain passed. She also felt a little bit dizzy as well but she chalked it up to her being overly excited at having an ability of her own.
The butterflies fluttered and danced in the air as the she made more and more of them
Black and gold butterflies flying freely in the air.
The butterflies could hear her thoughts or mind her mind and they dashed off towards a small bush where the noise was coming from.
The male would-be assassin was busy stalking his prey. It didn't seem like she noticed him at all.
Then he noticed a black butterfly on his right arm.
A pitch black butterfly. How strange, he thought.
Then three more butterflies landed on his arm.
Then more butterflies came to swarm him until every inch of his skin was covered in those deadly butterflies.
He screamed and howled as the skin and flesh began to melt and burn off his bones.
He felt those horrible things eat away at him, eating him alive.
Lilith raised a swarm of black and gold butterflies, ignoring the feeling of her blood and flesh being used up to create the swarm.
He fell down, reduced to a pile of bones by the hungry butterflies.
His female companion panicked as she wondered what was happening to her partner.
She saw him being torn apart and dying at the hands of those butterflies with her night vision.
Lilith saw her as well and she was behind her in an instant.
"Should have been a little bit quieter, bitch."
The female raised her hands in what looked to be a sign of surrender only for a knife to slide down her wrist and into her hand. She spun around and tried to aim for Lilith's stomach.
A cowardly sneak attack. Lilith had to be expecting that much for some lowly bitch who didn't even have the brains to stay quiet while she was about to kill someone.
Lilith moved out of the way in time.
Heck, the attack was so slow and sluggish that even Lilith, untrained and unskilled in combat, was able to dodge it easily.
Lilith kicked up her leg and her foot connected with the assassin's face.
It caught her straight in the nose and a crisp and clean crack could be heard as the nose broke.
She fell onto her back and Lilth planted a foot on her chest.
"Wanna talk about trying to kill me and my brother? Oh, and about my father. Tell me, has he really gone insane or is there something else to it?"
