Chapter 71

How did Arya get the idea that the mind control was not the work of a human?

Well, it was far stronger and longer lasting than what she read about mind control abilities.

The second? She realized that the effects of the brainwashing looked…strange.

The victims acted more like wild animals. Crazy, mindless and no sense of awareness or reasoning at all.

There were also the bloodshot eyes with bulging veins bright red and swollen.

Anyway, Arya did agree to hand over some of the food to the non-human refugees in exchange for Lucinda's help(Actually, she was going to give them food one way or another but she wasn't sure if Lucinda or anyone else were going to cooperate with her).

Arya went inside the barn alone with Lucinda, insisting that she could take care of herself. Elijah and his siblings did make her promise to scream and shout for help if she needed it tough while they waited outside.

Lucinda knelt down next to one of the tied up victims.

She growled at her like an angry dog.

"Yep, definitely daddy's work."

Arya raised an eyebrow.

"Your dad?"

"Yes, there are traces of his power on all of these humans. But he never used his powers like this before."

"What do you mean?"

"My daddy powers allow him to control and manipulate blood. But it seems like he must have his powers to control these people. Like..controlling them through blood."

"Is there any way to-?"

Lucinda shook her head.

"No, but my daddy should be tried and weakened if he was controlling this many people. I think you just need to wait a little bit more."

"Thanks, Lucinda, right?"

"Yes."

….

Lucifer wasn't having a very good time as he tried to break up a fight between two of the kids who were fighting over some bread. It looked like one boy didn't get any at all and accused another boy of stealing his ration.

"Break it up, you two!!"

"No, he took my bread!!"

"No, I did not!! He's a liar, your highness!!!"

The two goblin boys then proceeded to get into a catfight while the other kids ate and watched the shitshow.

Lucifer felt automatic sympathy for the pain and headaches he must have given his father when he was a little kid.

"STOP IT ALREADY!!!"

Oops. He didn't mean to yell but it was too late.

The two boys stopped fighting and looked at Lucifer.

Lucifer calmed himself down before speaking.

"Listen. I don't care whose fault it is but both of you need to understand that you both were wrong. One of you started the fight and the other decided to lower himself to his level. Now apologize both of you and I'll go get some more bread if the princess would let me."

"Looking for me, Lucifer?"

Lucinda and Arya came back and Arya was holding two loaves of bread wrapped in a white cloth with a jar of strawberry jam with her.

Lucinda rushed up to greet her brother, hugging him tightly around the wait and not letting go. Lucifer let her stay and he patted and stroked her hair.

Arya noticed how those two didn't smell at all despite probably being outside for what seems like weeks or days now. Prephas being demons, they didn't produce body odor. SHe envied them for that.

"Looks like I didn't give you guys enough so I came to deliver some for the kids."

Lucifer appreciated the gesture.

"Thank you, human princess."

"Oh, it's nothing."

Arya handed over the loaves of bread and the jar of jam to Lucifer and she looked around at the kids.

"Poor kids. I hope they can be united with their families soon."

Lucifer cocked his head.

"Are you taking pity on us?"

Arya shook her head.

"Not really. I kinda understand what it's like going hungry. And besides, they're just kids who did nothing wrong. Blame it all on your crazy dad for forcing people to fight."

Lucifer smiled.

"You'll make a good queen one day."

"Thank-LOOK OUT!!!!"

Lucinda tackled the siblings to the ground just when an arrow came flying towards their heads and impaled the ground.
