Second Floor: King Of Dungeon Serpents

Ace could hear Armin grunt loudly as he tried to get up to his feet, but his strength failed him due to the battle he had been pulling with the dungeon beast continuously.

Damien had blanked out, his will to pull himself together totally flushed out. His once buff physique now looked like a collective shrunken skin. Gruesome cuts opened routes for easy flow of blood from different parts of his body— a testament to how deadly the battle with the titan beast had been.

His dagger was laying aimlessly a couple of meters away from the beast and what was left was Ace, standing like a forgotten hero who's cape had been blown off after a sonic boom exploded during his dynamic heroic exit.

The holographic window flickered into his view, giving a sharp alert of a message.

[Ding!]

[You have a talent card not in use]

[Do you wish to activate and get a random talent from the system?]

"A talent card?" Ace muffled, his gaze turning back at the titan briefly.

The beast was still curling up like wisps of smoke ascending to the sky and Ace knew at once what was happening— it was preparing itself for its next attack.

"Yes!"

The system knew better than him, perhaps, it could grant him some cheat code to help defeat the beast if not, clear the dungeon floors seamlessly as well.

[Talent activated]

[Talent: Abyssal Scan]

[(Description: This ability allows host to peer into the hidden stats of creatures and other characters, revealing their strength and weaknesses)]

A sharp smile curled on his lips. At least, he was a step ahead of the ugly creature in front of him, but first he needed to do something to his failing strength as well.

After all, he hadn't fully recovered from the horrendous attack he had received from the titan beast raging a storm across the dungeon.

Stretching his hand forward, a phial, husking a crystal purple potion within it appeared seamlessly on his palm.

"Health Elixir." He whispered, uncocking its lid and gulping it down his throat at once.

[(Description: Health Elixir; a potion that restores health when consumed)]

As the savory taste of incense filled his mouth, Ace could feel his bones mend up and the wounds he had suffered from the brutal stones got stitched up seamlessly, redefining his skin like he had never suffered a slight cut since birth.

[Pending quest: (I): Defeat dungeon mob monster]

"Time to test the ability of this new talent." He muttered, his eyes darkening as they fell on the mob monster swaying and swinging its head gruesomely as if it was celebrating his victory over the tired Armin and Damien.

Ace activated the abyssal scan, ready to take on the next move— since he was all alone now.

[Name: Serpentis Rex- Naga Vortex(King of dungeon serpents)]

-Strength: 120(×10)

-Dexterity: 14(×10)

-Defense: (360×10)

-Intelligence: 30

"It's armor class is something else!" Ace concluded as he viewed the beast's stat. "With its intelligence at 30, I doubt it can catch up faster with my attacks." He added with a slight scoff.

He summoned his sword again, the blazing inferno swirling round from its hilt up to the tip of the sword. He hopped into a fighting stance, ready to give his all and defeat the monster before him.

But that wasn't all from the talent he had received as the holographic window popped up again.

[Senses: Blind sight (60ft.) Blind beyond this radius]

[Languages: Understands common but cannot speak]

"Oh well, that's a good thing to know that it understands my language." He smiled, his mana energy flowing out of his arms like a broken dam. "Might as well get it pissed off with some words."

"Be careful, Ace." Dawn's voice called at him, a gentle reminder she was still conscious and he wasn't alone after all.

Taking a side look at her for one last time, he shoved her a quick nod and turned back at the serpent who was now charging towards him dangerously.

The stones shifted, and the dungeon floor seemed to shift with the audacious weight the Serpentis Rex was pulling along with it.

Immediately, Ace activated his dash skill, closing up the distance between the beast and himself in mere seconds.

He thrusted his blade at the mob monster, but his sword made no dynamic attack at the beast as its scaly shield parried his attack seamlessly.

"Of course, I know my sword wouldn't penetrate, but I have to act like a fool— a weak loser and then be the ultimate sigma." Ace said to himself, grinning like he had won already.

The titan snake launched an attack again, swinging its large tail at Ace the same way it had done the moment he had stepped into the second floor, but Ace had calculated this move.

He side-stepped to the right, the titan missing its landing with the breadth of a hair. Ace leaped towards the titan after activating his cloud jump skill, his sword pointed downwards at the beast as if he was trying to plunge an attack through its scales.

Despite knowing this, he charged forward, the deafening scream of the titan snake reverberating through the dungeon and forcing the walls to crumble a little.

Finally, Ace's sword took a landing at the center of the titan's chest, but instead of a hollow dip, his blade, in a swift slow motion shredded into eon silver pieces of nothing as it tried to break through the snake's scale with the mana coated inferno swirling around it.

*BAM!*

The force of the collision sent Ace hurtling away from the force field that erupted like a sonic boom. He couldn't stick the landing as he met a grave fate with the dungeon's wall again.

"Ace!" Dawn who was watching from afar screamed out with raw concern etched in her voice.

"Ugh…!" He groaned as he tried to get up.

Hearing Dawn's voice from behind, the titan halted, changing its direction towards Dawn at once.

Spitting out an amount of blood from his mouth, Ace muttered some words into the air, a slight smirk tugging on the side of his lips as he watched the beast rage towards Dawn.

"It's always the weak ones causing more trouble. Perhaps, she could be— a good bait."
