Old tales (3)

After failing attempts to wake up Liam, Sky grinds her teeth to lift the older man who's twice her size on her back. If she was alone she would've escaped her skin but nothing always expected. Trampling her way out while the cracked walls started to finally fall, the situation was much worse with the dusty air made it vague to see in front.

Suddenly, she heard Natalie shouting her lungs out, calling her name from the floor above .

"I'm here!!!".

Yelling back her legs felt weak, her essential is dropping fast, as if something sucking the life out from her.

Alarmed on a glimpse to dried branches of the tree reaching out, in high alert she dragged her feets to crawl faster, unforanatlly, her leg was locked by it before managing to flee then her forearm slowly was warped along.

The hopless one unable to move an inch, in a state to hardly distinguish what's real and what is not, she heard a faint whisper replaying words to her ear to catch; "The world forgot me".

Shoving Liam aside before the branches completely wrapped and covers her up like a mummy, it retreated inside the tree gripping tightly around Sky.

At that moment little Sky had long dream, about young woman in her twenties, dressed in purple long cloak while kneeling in front of the same tree. Whimpering with trembled shoulders, she start to speak on how she is the only one left now, and her heart can't take more agony.

"I miss you, and Lionel, so as Ray. I miss the times like when we laughed at how Lionel ugly cries almost drop his new born baby..."

Chuckled at the memory the corner of her mouth lifted a sad smile, as she carried on with her thoughts.

".…I miss how you always there, to pat my head even when I stated its very rude, since you were older by couple of months only,...I miss..."

Suddenly the ground quivered as so was the walls of the castle making her paused her words, with different gazes full of rage and determination, that sad expression faded. The woman got up holding a wand of unquie gray wood.

"Looks like I may actually meet you guys sooner than expected".

The woman speculated hearing men's roars rising outside, on hurried steps to door with her, Sky was watching all this time, she saw the same giants of when they first arrived the castle, excpet they weren't stones yet. It reminded her of the guard's story about Lady Frey, she turned them into stones.

Glancing the figure of her, one of the giants with evil smile on his face slammed his axe in front of her and dared to threat.

"Frey Miler...Green, you should just take the easy way and give up on this place for his highness".

Bang her wand, the ground shaked even more with sound of lighting got more aggressively, she smirked arrogantly.

"Even if my heart stopped beating, my soul will protect this Ryett palace that we built on ages of time"

With earth shaking, laughed the giant to grip the axe from the ground.

"This is your final answer, Frey?' He stated pointing it toward her small figure that floated up pointing her wand back at him declaring she has no fear lurking in her heart. The giant took it as an answer and sighed, the army of giants behind him, they drummed on the iron plates shielded their chest and roared loudly one by one. Unfazed by their action nor the numbers Frey smiled and shouted:

"Know your place pageants!!"

Sky shivered with goosedumps witnessing this solely person stood to fight against such swarm.

what more impotant her gaze met up the purple veins around her arms and neck.

"She was already infected?" Sky thought in pure shock.

Its known fact that the fog weaking the humans to certain extend but Frey seemed to be very powerfull even with fog, it never hindered her.

As if the tree felt how unstable Sky's mind became, suffering burr vision the girl passed out and the branch had loosen its grip on her unconscious body before breaks into pieces. The branches faintly fell on the ground like it did its last mission.

Groaning feeling itchy pain all over her body and inside her chest especially where her core is. On another sensation of being carried by someone, her eyes gradually opened glancing a long black hair tight up with band as her eyes rolled up. Her groaning alarmed that perosn to state with a titter.

"You finally awake?'

Feng asked halting his step with Natalie besides yawing.

"Oh, so I didn't die"

Shaking her head on that conclusion, Nataile stooped pinching Sky's cheeks.

"No silly, is this enough prove?"

Sky twisted her lips abit while slapping Natalie's hand down, then patted Feng's back to put her down so he gladly did then fixed his sore shoulders.

"What happened? If I remember correctly the castle was falling apart?"

Reaching out to balance her steps, Nataile replied with eyebrows knitted:

"And it did unfornatily, we found you unconscious by the dead branches. Luckily, with the help of the guards of the Greens, we were able to get out before it completely collapsed"

After a nod, Sky's vision wandered around the familiar house and streets of mile town.

"Then what about the slaves?'

Feng seemed to have some conflicts never forgot what Sky said time ago in the tunnels, he shooked his head saying:

"Although they had crossed the teleport gate with us safely,...the Greens only said they'll investigate the matter throughly first then decide what to do with them. As for the childern,...they..Ah... were left in my care for now,..." He awkwardly put a smile then added; "Because me and Nataile begged them"

He got a pat on his back whereas Sky restored.

"I didn't think you will be forced to the situation I mentioned, look like you actually jinxed it".

"That maybe the case. Hehe! By the way Sky do you recall what occurred down there?".

Barely collecting the reminisce she stroked her chin recalling the visions the tree showed it to her.

"Not so sure, yet I guess I dreamt of Lady Frey, or her younger version fighting an army of giants"

Closed and opened her mouth with shock, Natalie was moreover puzzled.

"Wait! what do mean by dreaming?"

"Like I said I'm not sure myself! All I remember that I was escaping with Liam..." Then it hit suddenly reminded of him; "...Hold on! Is sir Liam okay?"

Natalie ignored her question forcing a grip on her friend's shoulder with flaring eyes, hastened her to continue explaining what happened.

"Alright chill! As I was saying (cough)... I was trying to run way but then I felt very sleepy and weakened when the branches withheld my movements, I was completely swallowed by the tree. That's when I found myself dreaming about Frey...which reminded me, it seemed like she was empoisoned by the fog"

Natalie never doubted Sky words, she even throughly thought of it believing her.

"That's impossible, from what I know, Frey was the first human to resist the poisoned fog, that why we were able to use the same principle in storm terror devices" Nataile thoughtfully stated.

"I know, though that's where I was confused seeing the purple lines on her skin. However, for some reason she was in high level of strength, no, the right words are way too stronger for infected person".

"What if,...she found a way to control the black fog, like turning it into some sort of force?" Feng asked halting his steps.

"If she did we wouldn't rely on soul weapons till now, would we?"

Natalie questioned shakily because if that really was true then the structure they had built after long time of suffering to reach this point and Frey had the solution all along?! she doesn't want to imagine.
