Awakening The Sliver Wolf

I had been given thirty minutes to go shower and change out of my bloody clothes.

Thirty minutes was done and I was now standing with Lilith, Joseph, Selena, Vera, and Lucian—the guy Joseph left the party with. He seems like the quiet kind. Only spoke when spoken to and said just a few words in response. He was the total opposite to Joseph.

The room buzzed with anticipation as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting warm, golden light through the tall windows.

Joseph stood at the front, his voice carrying over the excited chatter of the group.

"Alright, everyone! Welcome to the scavenger hunt! This isn't just a game; it's a… while it's just a game. You'll be working together to find a list of items hidden throughout the pack house. Remember, some items may require teamwork or clever thinking to uncover. Ready?"

"He sounds old," said Lilith, crossing her arms.

The girls giggled and Joseph just rolled his eyes.

"We'll be divided into two groups," he continued. "Ravenna, Lucian and Selena are in group A. Lilith, Vera you're with me."

"Oh, come on," Lilith exclaimed, throwing up her hands in frustration.

Joseph smirked, and handed us a sheet with the scavenger hunt list, which included a pack emblem, an old journal, a unique family heirloom, and a hidden key that unlocked a mysterious box somewhere in the house.

"Now, no splitting up! Work as a team, and let's see how quickly you can find everything. You have thirty minutes!"

As the countdown began, I felt a rush of determination.

This felt like a chance to prove myself to my new pack. "Let's start in the living room," I suggested, glancing around at my teammates.

"Good idea," Selena agreed. "There are a lot of nooks and crannies here."

The group fanned out, searching under cushions, behind bookshelves, and even in the decorative jars on the mantle.

Selena suddenly shouted, "I found the pack emblem!" She held it triumphantly, the silver pin gleaming in the light.

"Great! One down," I said, feeling a sense of camaraderie building among us.

"Let's move to the study next," Lucian suggested, and I was shocked when I heard him speak. "I've heard there are some old journals in there."

We agreed and quickly made our way down the hall.

We passed pack members, and none of them paid us any mind.

Inside the study, the atmosphere shifted. Dust motes floated in the air as we rifled through stacks of books and drawers.

I pulled out a stack of papers. "These look like they could be important," I said, flipping through them.

"Wait! I see something in that corner," Selena exclaimed, pointing to a darkened shelf.

As we approached, I spotted an old, leather-bound journal wedged between two larger tomes.

"Here!" I called out, pulling it free. "This must be it!"

The excitement swelled as we marked off another item. "Now, we need the family heirloom," Selena said, glancing at the list. "What could it be?"

"We should check the attic. A family heirloom would be old, and the attic is kinda full of old things." Once again this came from Lucian.

"You are like our map," Selena said as she slapped his shoulder playfully, and he smiled.

He was one handsome fellow.

"Good thinking," I replied, my heart racing at the prospect of climbing to the attic.

Together, we made our way up the narrow staircase, each step creaking beneath us.

Once in the attic, the air was thick with dust and the faint smell of wood, and I was surprised at how large an attic could be.

Shadows danced across the walls, illuminated only by the light filtering through a small window.

We began searching through the clutter—old furniture, forgotten toys, and piles and piles of boxes.

"This is going to take forever," Selena groaned.

I wouldn't mind forever in this place. It was like going through the pack's memories.

"Over here!" Lucian shouted, tugging at a heavy wooden chest. "This has to be it!"

With effort, we pried it open, revealing an assortment of trinkets.

Among them, we discovered a delicate silver locket adorned with intricate designs. "This must belong to one of the pack's founders!" Selena exclaimed, holding it up with a look of awe.

"We're making good progress," I encouraged, my nerves easing as we worked together. But there was still one item left—the hidden key.

"Where could it be?" Selena pondered, looking around the attic.

"Maybe it's connected to something else we found," Lucian suggested. "What about the locket? Could it open something?"

Selena frowned thoughtfully. "There might be a box in the living room or study that it unlocks."

We quickly descended, retracing our steps.

As we gathered in the living room once more, I noticed a small, ornate box on a high shelf. "That could be it! Let's check it out!"

I climbed onto a chair, stretching to reach the box while the others steadied it. As I lifted it down, I noticed a small keyhole. "It's worth a try."

With bated breath, we inserted the locket into the keyhole.

A satisfying click echoed through the room, and the box creaked open. Inside lay a beautifully crafted silver bracelet, engraved with the pack's emblem.

"Wow! We found everything!" Selena shouted, her face flushed with excitement.

And just then Joseph's team entered the room, their face bright but it immediately darkened when they saw us.

"I knew we were doomed to fail," Lilith grumbled as we fell into a chair.

"Hey, but at least we had fun," Vera said with a small smile as she sat beside her.

Lilith huffs but says nothing.

"How does it feel beaten to your own game, Joseph?" Lucian teases with a grin on his face.

"Feels like shit," Joseph answered as he sat, but he was smiling.

"Come on, man. No congratulations message or award?" Selena said.

"Nope," Joseph said, popping the P.

"Jealous," I said as I sat.

"Come girls," Lucian says as he walks out the room. "Let's go celebrate our win, and leave them to mourn their loss."

Selena gave an excited shout and I grinned as I followed Lucian, winking at Joseph.

"Hey, I'm coming along!" Lilith said as she got on her feet.

"Me too!" Vera followed.

Joseph grumbled but still followed us.

We just reached the hall when we heard a scream.
