Awakening The Silver Wolf

DARIUS POV

Ravenna watched me with her eyes hard. Now, that fire was back and it burned ten times hotter.

"You're shitting me, Darius," she said. Even though I could feel the anger coming off her in waves, her voice was steady.

I shook my head. "I shit you not."

I haven't planned for the fight to be today. I haven't even planned to see her in the dining hall.

I wanted to leave my office for a while. To see my pack and be around them. It was dinner time so I knew the majority of the pack would be there.

I had entered the hall and like a magnet to metal, I had found her immediately.

And it seems she and Mia were getting bullied. So I walked to her but then I saw the fire in her eyes as she faced the girls and something had just snapped.

So tonight we will have our first fight.

Was I playing fair? Hell no. But I wasn't known to be fair. She was exhausted. That much was written all over her face.

But I wanted to taste that fire. To see how much it would burn.

Ravenna inhaled and shook her head. "You're a bastard."

"Tell me what I don't know."

I was so close to her that I could smell her intoxicating scent. And once again it clouds my head.

"Would you like us to fight privately or would you like an audience?" I asked.

She glared at me, her jaw clenched. "Privately," she gritted through clenched teeth.

I smiled. "Wonderful." I leaned back away from her and she stood. She glanced down at her half-eaten plate, a pained look in her eyes.

In the days I've been watching Ravenna, I have observed that she was a foodie. I couldn't be that cruel and deny her her dinner.

"You can finish your food first," I said but she ignored me emptied her cup of water, and then turned to me.

"Can I come with?" Mia, who was still standing and had been observing us, asked.

She didn't seem surprised by this so it meant Ravenna had filled her in.

They grew close quite fast in just a few days. It was good to see Mia had found a friend.

She couldn't be suffering for the sins of her father. That burden I knew all too well.

Before I could open my mouth and tell her a big no, Ravenna said in a soft voice, "Of course you're coming." And then she took Mia's hand and turned to me once more.

"Lead the way." Her voice was now hard.

I sighed and then walked towards the exit, feeling my pack's eyes hot on me. They would have something to gossip about come tomorrow.

I took them to my personal training room where Lucian was training alone, shirtless.

He stopped hitting the punching bag once he saw us enter. Eyes darting between all three of us. Then he ignored us and went back to hitting the bag. Prick.

I walked to the corner where I normally spared and turned to Ravenna. She understood and left Mia's side. Her hard eyes fixed on me.

They were harder than they were days ago. Guess her hatred for me was now stronger. I wonder what changed.

"Hand-to-hand combat today," I said once she stood in front of me. "You land a single blow, I'll grant you anything you want. I sweep you off your feet and you'll do anything I ask."

Ravenna regarded me with arched eyebrows. "You'll do anything I want?"

I nodded. "Yes, if it's within my power. But if you ask for my heart, well, that's a bit too much for me to give up—I've got a reputation to maintain."

Ravenna rolled her eyes and I heard someone scoff—Mia.

"Let's get this over with," Ravenna said.

"Confident, love?" I teased.

"Yes." And then she lunges at me.

She delivered a powerful punch that I narrowly blocked.

The force of the blow almost caused me to stumble.

I guess she wasn't so exhausted after all. I was a fool for nearly underestimating her the second time.

She was fierce, I'd give her that. Each strike she threw was fueled by stubbornness and pride, but I could see the exhaustion creeping in.

Her movements were becoming a fraction slower, her breath more labored. I feigned a left jab, then followed with a swift right hook that connected solidly with her side.

"Come on, Ravenna. You're going to have to do better than that," I said, a grin stretching across my face.

She glared at me but said nothing, wiping sweat from her brow. I haven't even broken a sweat.

Lucian had stopped training and was now watching us.

She retaliated with a desperate kick aimed at my torso, but I sidestepped, catching her leg and twisting it.

"Come on, Ravenna!" Mia cheered and I tried not to snort.

I knew I was stronger; the thrill of the fight was intoxicating. With each hit, I felt the satisfaction of asserting my power—or else Ravenna liked to call it: my ego—relishing in her struggle.

I moved in closer, throwing a combination of punches that she struggled to deflect.

My fists were quick and precise, each impact reverberating through her body. I could almost feel her resolve wavering.

But just as I thought I had her pinned down, she did something unexpected.

In a moment of desperation, she dropped to the ground, rolling away from my grasp.

Caught off guard, I barely had time to react as she swept her legs beneath me. I stumbled, losing my balance for a split second—a mistake I wouldn't have made under normal circumstances.

Before I could recover, she launched a quick punch aimed at my jaw. It wasn't a powerful strike, but it landed solidly enough to surprise me. I blinked, the impact registering a second too late.

"What the—" I managed, staring up at her as she stood over me, chest heaving.

"Not so invincible now, are you?" she shot back, a mix of disbelief and triumph flashing in her eyes.

A deafening silence fell upon the room, only broken by our harsh breathing.

She had done it again. Twice. Who the hell was this girl?

I looked over at Lucian but he had his eyes fixed on Ravenna. He looked expressionless but under that mask, he was impressed.

Hell, I was too.

The silence was broken by Mia clapping. She was clapping so hard and fast, that her palms would turn red.

Then she rushed to Ravenna and hugged her. "Girl, who the hell are you?" she asked, smiling.

"Siding against your alpha, Mia?" I said as I raised to my feet.

Mia's body tensed before she regained her composure and pulled away from Ravenna.

"I uhm..." She cleared her throat.

I scoffed softly. "Relax, Mia. It's not a crime to pick a side." Then I turned to Ravenna.

She looked like she could collapse any moment from now. The exhaustion had finally settled.

"You did well, Ravenna," I praised.

"I don't need your praise," she shot back.

I raised my hands. "Then tell me what you need."

She smiled, a wild, cold thing. I wasn't going to like this.
