DARIUS POV 

"When are Alpha Hale's agents coming?" I asked, my eyes fixed on the laptop but my mind was far away. 

"Five days from today," Lucian answered. 

"I see," I said, not seeing anything at all. 

Five days from today I will have a new ally, my plan will take shape and I will succeed. Why then do I feel so empty thinking about that? 

I knew the answer as clear as the back of my hand. Ravenna. That was the only answer. 

I wanted to become a better man for her, to do better. And what I was about to do was the exact opposite of a better man. She might say she doesn't hate me but if I carry on with this plan she will. Maybe even hated me more than she did before. 

I didn't want that. I had managed to gain her trust. How that happened will remain a mystery till my last days.

So I didn't want to lose that trust, I didn't want to carry out this plan that wasn't mine.

Lucian cleared his throat and I looked up at him staring at me. I raised an eyebrow when he didn't say anything after a while. 

"So, I see you and Ravenna have ehm...sorted things out," he eventually said. 

I raised another eyebrow at him. "Sorted things out?"

"Her scent was all over you two days ago," he answered.

I looked away from him feeling my face heat and swallowed. "Oh."

"Are you...Are you blushing, Darius?"

I fixed him with a hard look. "Say another word and I'll kill you where you stand." 

The bastard had the audacity to laugh. "Oh my god! You're really fucking blushing!"

"Get the fuck out of my office," I growled, raising to my feet to push the fucker out. 

"OK, fine, I'm going," he said with a small laugh and turned to the door. I could still hear his stupid laugh after he closed the door. 

I rubbed my hand on my face and slump back to my chair, embarrassed as shit. Lucian wasn't going to let this go so easily. I knew that fucker. And what the hell was Ravenna doing to me? 

Lucian and I had shared many partners over the years, long before we reached the age we were supposed to stick our dicks into warm holes. I had fucked women while Lucian watched and vice versa. 

So why then was I blushing like a goddamn schoolgirl when all he said was that her scent was all over me? All we did was kiss, goddammit! 

A kiss that was better than any orgasm I've had in my fucked up life. If only a kiss could be like that, then I couldn't imagine how she'll—

I couldn't be thinking of fucking Ravenna when I had only just gained her trust. That was too fast. But if only my hard cock could get the memo.

I adjusted myself, the thought of claiming Ravenna already enough to make me rock hard.

Suddenly, I felt a tingle go through my body. Like a warmth passing through me. And then there was a knock on the door. 

Fuck. If it was one of my pack that was behind that door they'd be able to smell my arousal. Fuck it. 

"Come in," I commanded, my voice steady. 

The door opened and...for fuck sake! 

Mia came in and following behind her was the source of my hard-on.

"Alpha," Mia greeted as she bowed her head in respect. Ravenna only dipped her head but said nothing more. Well, that was new. 

I looked over at Mia to see that indeed she could smell my arousal. Her nose was sniffing and when she finally figured out what it was she was smelling, her eyes widened. 

I had never been more happy that Ravenna was not a wolf. 

I glare at Mia, hoping she understood the look in my eyes that says 'Shut the fuck up'. And she did because her lips curled up before she nodded. 

I looked over at Ravenna who hadn't seen the small exchange because her eyes were busy taking in my office as if she hadn't been here at least two times. 

But my office was breathtakingly beautiful so I understood. 

"Ladies," I said, finally drawing Ravenna's attention to me, where it should belong. God, I was acting like a fucking lovesick teenager. "How may I help you?"

Mia cleared her throat and my attention went back to her. "We would like permission to leave the pack house for a day, Alpha," she stated.

I raised an eyebrow. "A day? Why?"

"We would like to go camping," answered Ravenna. The way she answered quickly got my attention and my eyes shot back to her. 

"Camping you say?" I asked, my voice calm. 

"Yes, Darius. Camping," she answered, and I knew she wanted to roll her eyes right now. 

I glanced back at Mia before my eyes returned to Ravenna. "Why?"

"Ravenna has been cooped up here since she arrived," Mia answered before Ravenna could. "She hasn't been able to see the land since she came. It's beautiful this time of the year and I wanted to show that to her. She needs a day out to receive fresh air. I promise this isn't a plan to make her escape. I would never betray you like that."

"I know that, Mia," I said softly and her shoulders relaxed. I turned and pointed to Ravenna. "It's her I don't trust." 

Ravenna finally lost the battle she was fighting against herself and rolled her eyes. "I won't try to escape, Darius. Like I told you the first time, I'll be stupid to even try."

I smiled a little. "I do question your sanity sometimes, Ravenna," I teased. 

Ravenna snorted. "Oh, fuck you. If you know how many times I've questioned if you have a brain up that swollen head of yours you'll start questioning your own sanity." 

Mia looked between the two of us but kept her mouth closed. We stared at each other, a small smile on my face and a frown on Ravenna's. 

I couldn't help but admire her while she stared at me like that. Her wonderful lips were pressed together, her beautiful eyes hard, her eyebrows pinched together. I think no matter how close Ravenna and I get she'll always look at me with that beautiful hard look on her face. 

And god, I loved it. 

Will she still look at me like that when I was pounding inside her? Thrusting deep into her heat? 

My once calm cock started to harden again. 

I looked over at Mia but she had her eyes fixed on a spot above my head, her expression blank. 

"Very well," I said as I leaned back into my chair. "A day to camp and a day is all."

A wide smile broke across the ladies' faces but it was the one on Ravenna's face that had my head feeling light. 

I had never seen her smile like that before and I wanted to give her anything if it meant she'll continue smiling like that. 

"Thank you, Alpha," Mia said as she bowed and pulled Ravenna and led her out the door. 

But before the door closed, Ravenna turned and smiled at me, her eyes soft, and then the door was shut.
