Awakening The Silver Wolf

DARIUS POV

It was taking all my willpower to keep my face blank and let this snake touch me. Her touch repulsed me and burned my skin.

But I let her continue to think she had won here. I was a predator, I liked to hunt and taunt my prey before I struck.

But Zara here had been the one to hunt me out. When we were done finalizing the deal and signing documents for our new alliance, I wanted to go find Ravenna.

I knew she was hurting despite how high she held her chin earlier. I knew because her body had remained tense. And I could see it all in her beautiful eyes.

And so I wanted to find her, and touch her, and kiss her and just fucking love her.

But then this snake had found me when I came outside my room, had dragged me to the guest floor claiming Alpha Hale had entrusted her with a message she couldn't have said in front of Lucian and Lucas.

And so I followed her here. Only to get sickened to the stomach by her touch.

She was wearing a thin gown but being naked would have been better than the gown.

Her nipples were hard and pressing on my arm.

I swallowed to keep the bile down.

She was just wrong: her body was too soft, her skin too light, her hair wasn't silver, her eyes weren't gray. She wasn't Ravenna. Ravenna was the only one who had the right to touch me, hurt me, to fucking do as she pleases, and I would still worship her.

When Zara's touch became too intrusive I knew this game had to end. I fisted her hair, and leaned down closely, my hand tightening in her hair. Her eyes brightened. Fool.

"Did you enjoy thinking you were better than Ravenna?" I asked, my voice low and dangerous. The type of voice men heard before life was sucked from their eyes. Zara's body tensed and I tightened my hold on her hair, causing her to wince. "Does it give you a purpose, Zara, to try and be better than her? To THINK you're better than her? You're not. You're nothing compared to Ravenna. She's ten times the woman you'll ever be. Ten times stronger. Ten times better. Ten times more beautiful."

Zara was glaring hard at me now, her nostrils flared. "Don't ever compare yourself to her again, because I know that's what you're doing. Trying to see if you could take what's hers, trying to see if you could bring her down. All because you want to be her, all because of your insecurities. I am Ravenna's. No one else."

I released her and she staggered back, her arms crossed, trying to cover herself. I snorted. "So now you have some decency?" I straightened to my full height and glared down at her, giving her the look that has made grown men piss themselves. "First thing tomorrow morning, you and your boyfriend are out. Do not even think of looking towards Ravenna's direction on your way out. And in the future, if your alpha tells you to come to my pack for any business purpose, tell him no. I don't want to see you near my border ever again."

I turned and left her shaking in fear and anger and I went to go find my girl. Fuck. My girl. Just saying that in my head alone was enough to make my heart kick start.

I needed her touch to cleanse that snake's touch off me.

This will be the first time I have been going to her room since she moved there. I know she would be shocked.

I reached her door, knocked softly, and waited. When no answer came after a while I knocked again. Still no answer.

I stepped closer to the door and listened well, but there wasn't a single sound coming from the room, no heartbeat.

She wasn't here. Where was she by this time? Even Mia wasn't here either.

I turned to head downstairs but paused when I saw Mia climbing up the stairs.

"Alpha," she greeted with her head bowed when she saw me.

"Where's Ravenna?" I asked.

Mia frowned slightly. "I thought she went to see you."

"I haven't seen her since this afternoon."

Mia nodded before her eyes became sad. "When she came back this evening she was a mess. A crying mess."

My chest tightened. "What do you mean?"

"I don't know much, but she asked for my phone and called someone. I, uhm, listened to the conversation and it seems she was talking to her father who wasn't her father."

It was my turn to frown. "I don't understand."

Mia relaxed a breath. "Me neither. But all I knew was that that bitch said something to Ravenna. Something about her father, who was the alpha of our visitors' pack, wasn't her father. It broke Ravenna. I have never seen her like that before. She was… she was so heartbroken." Her voice cracked at the end.

"Fuck," I exhaled. When Mia said 'bitch' I knew she was referring to Zara. God, I wanted to fucking kill that snake. "You have no idea where she is?"

Mia shook her head. "None. But please give her space, yeah? She would need time to sort out her feelings."

I nodded, my mind distant. "Good night, Mia."

"Good night, Alpha."

I walked back to my room and tried to get some sleep but it wouldn't come.

Damn. Ravenna just found out that the parents she had known weren't her real parents. That the mother she still mourned wasn't her real mother.

She would need comfort right now, but Mia was right. She needed space to sort out those feelings.

When sleep refused to answer my call I got up and went to my office. Better to get some work done than toss all night.

When I entered my office and went to my desk I immediately knew something was wrong.

My desk was never disorganized, but right now it was a mess. Drawers were opened, papers were on the floor, and… and my car keys were missing.

What the hell?

My door burst open and I turned, ready to fight but stopped when I saw Mia standing there, her eyes wide, her chest heaving like she had been running.

"She's gone."

I frowned at her. "What?"

"Ravenna is fucking gone!"

Mia had never raised her voice at me before.

"What do you mean gone?" My brain was a little slow.

"Her things are gone. She packed them in a hurry. She's gone, Darius. She ran away."

I looked back at my disorganized desk and my missing car key. My heart was beating hella fast. "She wouldn't."

"Well, she did," Mia answered, her voice cold.

"Lucian!" I called. He was immediately at my side as if he had been waiting. "Search the pack house! Everywhere. Every goddamn inch! But first, check if my car is still in the garbage."

"Yes, Alpha."

"The man she was talking to said she should come back," Mia said once Lucian was gone. "Said she should come back home. She promised. She promised she wouldn't leave!"

I ignored Mia. Why would Ravenna leave me? I thought she felt the same thing I felt. So why the hell would she leave me?

Lucian was back. "Your car is gone."

And that was when I burst. My wolf was already been at the edge and with those four words he burst through.

The shift tore through me, violently, shredding my clothes and snapping my bones.

I was on all fours in seconds and running out of the pack house. Her scent was still heavy on the wind. I ran, chasing after it, tracing her.

It took me past the border and my heart felt like it was going to beat out my rib cage. I passed the border, leaving frightened guards in my trail. My paws were a blur as they beat the ground fast, her scent tingling in my nose.

But then it suddenly disappeared. Gone. I sniffed the ground but I couldn't smell anything.

She had masked her scent.

I raised my head and roared, the sound shaking the trees and the ground.

Ravenna couldn't hide from me. I will find her, from whatever corner of the world she runs to I will find her. Then I would drag her back and claim her, mark her, mate with her, make her mine. Because she was mine.

Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine.

And no forces in the world could change that. Not even her.
