Awakening The Silver Wolf

DARIUS POV

Mia was right. I was a selfish bastard.

I didn't want to face my pain, I didn't want to acknowledge it so I remained in my wolf form where all I could think of was kill.

And kill I did.

I haunted animals like it was nothing. And any unfortunate human who happened to come across me went down too. I didn't feel guilty about it. I wanted the world to feel my pain.

But then sense returned to me when Mia had dared question my love for Ravenna. There was no questioning it, there shouldn't be any doubt. I loved Ravenna more than I loved myself, more than I loved to live.

I would have traded my place for her in a blink if I had been offered the chance. I would lay my heart in her palms if she asked for it. I would burn the world down for her if that's what she desires.

But I needed to save her first before I could prove my love for her.

The ward surrounding Rowan's territory was strong. We had tried without success to find a weak point in it and break through it. There wasn't any. The witch who did the ward was damn strong.

The wards wouldn't come down unless the witch put it down. No other witch could destroy it. And so we needed to find the witch. She could be inside or outside the ward. We had no way of telling.

And so Lucian has spent millions of dollars on the search. He'd assembled a team of trackers, tech experts, and specialists. We didn't have a clear picture of who we were searching for, but we were determined to find something, anything.

Every witch, no matter how old or powerful, always left a mark. All we needed to do was find that mark. It wouldn't be easy, and it was going to take time. Time I didn't have.

With every minute Ravenna has spent there she could be hurting. If I had just brought my head out of my ass sooner she would have been here with me.

Dalian and Mia haven't seen who took Ravenna, but I had. So of course they took her to Rowan's pack.

I had been so stupid, so selfish. When I finally rescued my woman I was going to kneel at her feet and begged for her forgiveness. She deserves better than a selfish bastard like me. But I was all she was going to get. Since I was selfish, I wasn't letting her go.

"We found something," Adam, one of the techs, said, snapping me out of my daze.

I rose from my seat, ducking my head under the low ceiling of the truck filled with computers. This was my current home. Mia and Dalian were out with the trackers, while Lucian was working from my territory.

I haven't left the truck except to relieve myself.

"What is it?" I asked as I stopped in front of his computer.

He pointed at the screen where a woman was walking around Rowan's territory with something in her hand. It's the witch.

"This is an old video dated two weeks ago," Adam explained, leaning back on his chair and cracking his neck. "It was when she was setting up the ward. We found another footage of her when she left the territory a week ago. She hasn't come back since."

So she was out of the territory. Perfect. "Find her."

He cracked his knuckles. "On it."

Technology was amazing. There weren't any cameras around Rowan's territory or even outside, but they had still found a video of the witch. It was worth every million I had spent.

"Isabelle McKay," Adam said after ten minutes. "I've got her location."

I picked up my phone and dialed Dalian's number. He picked up after the first ring. "We found the witch."

"Send the location."

***

I walked into the warehouse with my hands in my pockets. The place was dark but I could see clearly and I knew where they were.

I walked into a small dirty room where a woman was tied to a chair, her head hanging between her shoulders.

Mia and Dalian were standing in the corner of the room. The latter looked relaxed and composed, while the former was red with anger.

I nodded at Dalian and he picked a bucket before he slashed the cold water on Isabelle. She gasped as her eyes blew open, unfocused for a while before panic filled them.

She squinted in the dark, her witchy eyes too weak to see in the darkness.

"Hello?" she called, her voice shaking. "Who's out there? Why am I here?"

Mia switched up the light and Isabelle hissed as she closed her eyes. She opened them again and when her eyes adjusted to the light she looked around. When her eyes landed on me they became wide with fear.

Ah, so she knows me. Lovely.

"Good evening, Isabelle," I said, my voice calm.

"Why am I here?" she said, trying to keep her voice and expression calm. But it was no use when I could smell the fear pouring out of her.

"You're here because I need you to open your ward," I said calmly.

"Go to hell," she spat, her eyes hard.

"Not today." I walked to her and stopped a few feet away from her. She looked up at me with hateful eyes, but there was still fear twirling in them. "I don't torture women, Isabelle. So let's make this easy for ourselves, okay?"

Isabelle kept shut and just glared at me.

I saw movements from the corner of my eye before Mia was in front of me and landed a hard slap on Isabelle's face.

Well, damn.

Isabelle's head snapped to the side with such force that I heard a bone crack. Her cheek split open, blood gushing down.

Mia fisted her hair and leaned down to snarl on her face. "Listen to me, Isabelle. Darius might want to play good"—I rolled my eyes—"but I won't hesitate to torture the life out of you until you agree to take down that damn ward."

Isabelle glanced at me, a plea in her eyes, and I just shrugged.

A smell caught my nose. I focused on it and it was… arousal?

I snapped my head to Dalian and he was looking at Mia with a heated look in his eyes, unaware he was throwing pheromones in the air.

Well, that was… I didn't know what to make of it.

"Are you ready to take down the ward, Isabelle," Mia said, "or shall I introduce you to my fists?"

Isabelle stayed quiet. Mia tightened the hold on her hair as she said, "Do you what they're doing in that pack, Isabelle? They turn women like you and I into sex slaves, using them like breeding animals."

Isabelle said nothing, but that silence was loud. She did know.

"You disgust me, Isabelle," Mia muttered before she drew back only to throw a punch at Isabelle's jaw.

The crack I heard meant the jaw was broken.

Isabelle cried out, buckling on the seat as she looked from Dalian to me, blood rushing down her jaw.

I watched with my hands folded as Mia indeed introduced Isabelle to her fists. Ten minutes later, Isabelle broke. "I'll take down the ward!"
