The sun had risen by the time Klein finally grew bored with his studies. He was glad to find that he had grasped the gist of how alchemy worked. He understood how it was done, what was possible with it, and what wasn't.
Unlike the alchemy he once knew, this world's version was far vaster. Chemistry remained the foundation, but so much of it sounded like magic. Runes seemed to play a large part, though Elanor's notes hardly described them in enough detail for him to learn anything significant.
I guess I'll need to record more... Hopefully, the elves have a library around here somewhere, he thought, opening his eyes.
