Ross exhaled, running a hand through his hair.
"Of course. How could I forget something like that?" His voice was quiet, almost regretful.
"I'm sorry it happened, Adele. Truly. I know you've been avoiding me these past few weeks because of it, and I understand why. If I could undo the past, I would."
Adele tilted her head slightly, studying him.
So that's what he thought? That she regretted it? That she had been avoiding him because she was ashamed?
This might be have been true before but now, her world has already turned upside down.
She took a step closer, her voice softer this time but firm.
"Don't be."
Ross blinked, taken aback. "What?"
"I said don't be sorry," she repeated, her gaze unwavering.
"Because I certainly am not."
For a brief moment, silence stretched between them, thick with unspoken tension.
