"Alice, do you want to hear a story?" Devon asked and Alice turned to look at him.
They had stopped at a gift shop and were looking around for a potential gift when Devon suddenly decided he wanted to tell a story.
"What about?" Alice asked.
"A boy," he said. "A little boy."
"Hm?" Alice was lost. Why did he want to tell a story about a boy all of a sudden? Well, maybe there was a reason behind it.
She nodded.
"Sure."
Devon nodded and looked through the gift cards.
"This boy woke up alone." He started. "He used to live in a small house that was just enough to care for him, his mother and father, and his newly born brother. Every day, he would walk to his baby brother's crib and smile at the little thing, singing lullabies and wishing he grew up to be strong and healthy."
They walked past the gift cards and arrived at the gift basket section.
