Awakening—Regigigas!

"The ground's shaking, meow!"

Meowth, in the middle of filming, felt the tremors and quickly dove under a table.

At the same time, Matori received an urgent notice from the League directed at Snowpoint City's residents.

"The volcano on Snowpoint Mountain is showing signs of erupting. Everyone must leave Snowpoint City immediately!" Matori called out.

"Move, move!"

Hearing this, Jessie, James, and Meowth grabbed Wobbuffet and Pichu and ran out to a jeep parked outside the villa.

"Wait, where's Johan?"

James suddenly realized.

"Don't worry! With Johan's strength, forget a volcanic eruption—even if a Legendary Pokémon shows up, he'll be fine!" Jessie declared with confidence.

At that, the trio exchanged glances and then shouted in unison:

"Johan is incredible, meow!"

"Wobba~ Wobba!"

"Pii~chuu!!"

"James, step on it! We're evacuating!" Jessie ordered.

James floored the gas pedal, and the jeep sped off.

A few moments later, Matori emerged from the villa, watching the dust trail of the departing vehicle with a blank stare.

"…I wasn't in the car. I wasn't in the car!!"

She chased after them for a few steps but then came to a halt, her expression twisting.

"You're going the wrong way!"

But by then, the jeep had already disappeared into the distance.

On a research station overlooking Snowpoint Mountain

Flint let out a long yawn.

"Is this taking forever, or is it just me?"

His eyes teared up slightly from drowsiness.

To be honest, when he first heard that Regigigas was waking up, he'd felt nervous.

But…

He looked up at the sky.

The sun had already traveled from east to west.

"This thing is taking forever to wake up."

If he'd known, he would've taken a nap first.

Cynthia put away her phone and nodded toward Johan.

Because Regigigas was "waking up" at such a sluggish pace, the evacuation of Snowpoint City had gone relatively smoothly.

Then—

BOOM!

A deafening roar, far louder than before, exploded from the mountains.

Flint stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.

In the distance, massive sections of snow tumbled down the slopes, accompanied by large rocks cracking and scattering.

The sky itself seemed to darken—not just from volcanic ash, but as if heralding something ominous.

Everyone's expressions shifted.

Compared to the previous tremors, this was on an entirely different scale.

And that ancient, overwhelming presence grew even stronger.

"…It's awake," Aaron murmured.

"Let's move!"

Cynthia tossed out a Poké Ball, summoning her Garchomp. She swiftly leaped onto its back.

"GARRR!!"

With a mighty roar, Garchomp shot into the sky, heading straight for Snowpoint Temple.

Johan clicked his tongue, then called out his Dragonite.

"Follow Garchomp."

"Oowoo~~"

Flapping its stubby wings, Dragonite burst forward like a rocket.

Aaron summoned both his Dustox and Beautifly, using their combined strength to take off.

"Bronzong!"

Lucian released his Bronzong and hopped onto it.

Watching everyone take off, Flint opened his mouth… then looked at Lucian.

"…Lucian."

Lucian sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Bronzong, take him too."

Hum—

Bronzong used its psychic powers to lift Flint, and the two of them followed the others toward the temple.

As they soared through the air, Johan shouted, "When is Bertha getting here?"

Sure, their group looked strong at a glance—but they were all still in their 'rookie' phase!

They needed time to develop their full potential.

Having at least one Elite Four member on-site would be reassuring.

Then again…

If Regigigas was truly enraged, even an Elite Four might not make a difference.

"She's still on the way!" Cynthia called back from Garchomp's back.

"…Still on the way."

Did Bertha not have a Flying-type Pokémon?

Come to think of it, as a Ground-type specialist, she probably didn't.

BOOM!

The closer they got to Snowpoint Temple, the more intense the tremors became.

Suddenly, a blinding white light shot out from within the temple ruins, piercing the clouds above.

Even the heavy, swirling storm clouds were ripped apart.

Then—

A sound.

Not just a roar—a metallic crash.

Like the awakening of an ancient deity, filled with both rage and solemnity.

"REGI——!!"

A chill ran down everyone's spine.

Johan muttered under his breath,

"…This is some Ultraman-tier awakening."

They landed on an open field in front of the ruined temple.

The entire ground was shaking violently, the surrounding trees distorted, their snow-covered branches stripped bare by the tremors.

The blinding white light faded, replaced by a blood-red glow erupting from the shattered remains of the temple's ceiling.

BOOM!!

The temple collapsed.

Chunks of stone and debris flew in every direction.

A terrifying force surged forth, carrying a blast of ice and rock.

"Oowoo!!"

"GARRR!!"

Dragonite and Garchomp roared in unison.

Dragonite spun up a whirlwind of water to defend, while Garchomp shattered the ground to raise a wall of stone against the incoming shockwave.

From the debris, a colossal figure slowly rose.

"REGI——!!"

Sweat beaded on Lucian's forehead. He wiped it off before saying with difficulty,

"This is… the ancient titan… Regigigas?!"

The sheer pressure was overwhelming.

Were they seriously about to fight this thing?

Regigigas stood, its massive frame covered in vines and moss. Three golden stripes ran across its body, with seven glowing dots on its face, arranged like the Big Dipper.

Its arms and legs were adorned with additional red, blue, and white lights, all of which pulsed an angry crimson.

Johan's eye twitched.

"Professor Oak is full of crap—there's no way this thing is 'under four meters tall.'"

If Regigigas was under four meters, then Johan might as well claim to be eight years old.

By eye estimate alone, it had to be at least ten meters tall—and according to the ancient texts Cynthia deciphered, the real Regigigas was over fifty meters tall.

So technically, it still wasn't fully awake.

"REGI——!!"

Lucian and Flint instinctively braced themselves.

"…What do we do?" Flint whispered.

Even if all five of them attacked at once, would it even matter?

"Don't make any rash moves," Johan instructed. "We need to confirm whether Regigigas woke up just because of the volcano, or if something else is at play."

If it only woke up to stop the volcano, like it did in ancient times, it might go back to sleep afterward.

If that was the case, they wouldn't have to fight it.

Everyone nodded, remaining still.

Then—

Regigigas turned.

Not toward the volcano, but toward the ruins of the temple.

Its red lights pulsed brighter.

"Regi——!!"

It stomped down hard.

BOOM!

The remaining parts of Snowpoint Temple crumbled.

Johan's stomach sank.

This wasn't right.

If it was only angry about the volcano, why wasn't it heading toward the eruption?

"…Something's off," Cynthia said grimly.

Flint clenched his fists.

"Looks like we're fighting after all."

Despite the overwhelming power before him, Flint was the first to step forward.

Without hesitation, he released all six of his Pokémon.

"GOKA!!"

Infernape's flames roared to life, its fighting spirit ignited.

"Typhlosion, Flamethrower!" Flint commanded.

"ROOAARR!!"

The flames surged toward Regigigas—

And then vanished.

Regigigas barely even reacted.

It simply brushed the scorch marks off its shoulder and glared down at them.

Then, it slowly brought its massive hands together—energy building between them.

A catastrophic force surged forth.

"QUIET!"

For the first time, Johan activated his Aura.

The power of the Wave spread outward.

And finally, Regigigas responded.

"I… AM… SO… TIRED!!!"
