WESLEY'S eyes narrowed as he watched Nellie leave the room. He couldn't shake off the feeling that she was hiding something from him. Her story about working for Sheila seemed plausible, but Wesley's instincts told him that there was more to it.
He decided to call in a favor from an old acquaintance, Cross, a private investigator with a reputation for being one of the best in the business.
Wesley pulled out his phone and dialed Cross's number, his eyes scanning the room as he waited for him to pick up.
"Cross, it's Wesley," he said, his voice low and even. "I need a favor."
"What kind of favor?" Cross asked, his voice smooth and professional.
"I need you to look into someone for me," Wesley said. "Her name is Nellie, and she's been working as my personal assistant."
"What do you want to know about her?" Cross asked.
