Chapter 100: Countdown to Catastrophe

Zane's fingers flew over the terminal, his mind working in overdrive as the countdown for Solas's final protocol began ticking down on the screen. Each second that passed brought the world closer to a series of devastating attacks that could unravel everything the resistance had fought for.

"We're running out of time," Nyla said, her voice tense. "Can you shut it down?"

"I'm trying!" Zane snapped, his eyes fixed on the screen. "This system is more advanced than anything I've ever seen. Solas must have designed it himself."

The countdown continued, the numbers blinking ominously as they ticked closer to zero. Nyla's heart pounded in her chest. They had seconds left before the algorithm unleashed a wave of destruction across the globe.

Suddenly, Zane let out a cry of triumph. "Got it!"

The countdown froze, the numbers halting just seconds before disaster. Zane wiped the sweat from his brow, breathing heavily as the system shut down, its commands deactivated.

Nyla let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. They had stopped Solas's final plan, but just barely.

"It's over," Zane said, leaning back in his chair.

"For now," Nyla replied, her gaze still fixed on the screen. "But we need to make sure there aren't any more surprises waiting for us."

Zane nodded, already working to dismantle the rest of the system. But even as they shut down the bunker, Nyla knew that Solas's influence wasn't gone. His followers were still out there, and the algorithm was still a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands.

The war wasn't over—not yet.
