To be honest, the scene looked like a strange dream or a nightmare replayed, Harry Bloor, whom I had only seen in pictures, pictures of him in luxurious places, as if he were a fictional character out of a book, was now standing a few steps away. It was like an unrealistic confrontation, as if the past was meeting the present in a way I couldn't understand.
I know that there is a connection between Gabriel and Harry Bloor, but I can't pinpoint what it is. Could they be brothers? No… it doesn't seem like it.
As for the other man… that "dinosaur", with whom my dream had turned into an unforgettable nightmare, he was standing next to Gabriel. That alone was enough to confirm my suspicions. He was with him… Gabriel knew him… they even worked together.
My eyes were fixed on the three of them, watching their movements and looks. They were talking, but those sharp looks between Harry and Gabriel said it all. There was no good in this meeting.
Harry started his provocative movements, waving his hands and laughing as if he was enjoying the situation, while Gabriel remained standing firmly, his features cold as stone, his hands in his pockets as if he was imposing his dominance with his silence.
The contrast between them was very clear. Harry was full of drama and energy, while Gabriel represented the calm of the storm before the explosion.
I was extremely tense, until I felt my breath tighten in my chest. My feelings were mixed between fear and confusion, and with trembling fingers, I grabbed my phone and began searching for Ramsay's number among the names shown. Everything seemed to be moving very slowly, as if seconds had become hours.
But suddenly, my focus was interrupted by the sound of an annoying laugh approaching. I raised my head cautiously, my heart pounding like war drums. Harry. He was advancing towards me, his eyes shining maliciously and his laugh mocking everything around him. He was provoking Gabriel, speaking in a strange language that sounded to me like Spanish.
I quickly locked my phone, but luck wasn't on my side. The car window was open, causing him to stop right in front of me, staring at me with his prying eyes. Then with a wide, mocking smile, he turned to Gabriel and said in a provocative tone:
"Oh, look… you have a cute young girl in your car so…"
Harry stepped back from the window, turned his gaze towards Gabriel and the others who were advancing towards us with measured steps, then said in a voice with a clear tone of mockery:
"Let's bet... whoever wins the next battle... gets the girl."
Before he could finish his sentence, the dinosaur beside Gabriel raised a gun and pointed it at Harry's head. His features were tense, full of anger and hostility, while Gabriel remained fixed in his place, showing nothing but a calm but deadly expression. In a cold tone, he said, fixing his eyes on Harry:
"It would be better for you to stay out of what doesn't concern you... and don't involve our subject in your bets or anything else. We're here for our own business, nothing more."
Inside the car, I was shaking violently, my eyes moving here and there trying to comprehend what was happening. I felt like I was in a nightmare. Had they really bet on me? Or were they about to? I couldn't deny a strange desire that passed through my mind for a moment: if only the bullet had penetrated me to end this horrific situation.
Then Gabriel broke the tension with his sharp voice as he directed his command to the dinosaur:
"Teg."
The big man looked at him quickly and answered with clear obedience:
"Yes, sir?"
That was a new shock to me. His name is "Tig"? And not only that, he seemed to follow Gabriel with complete command. I felt my body shiver even more, and I could no longer distinguish whether the coldness was in the air or inside me.
Gabriel continued with the same coldness:
"Take it with him... I'll go."
Harry's mocking and provocative laughter rose, as if the whole situation was amusing him in a satisfying way, while Gabriel moved confidently towards the car.
He got in beside me and slammed the door shut.
He started the engine without saying a word, and drove away from that place, leaving everything behind him.
The engine was making a roar like an angry beast, as if the car was about to explode under the pressure of crazy speed. My hair was flying despite the windows closed, as if the air inside the car was filled with the same charged energy that controlled Gabriel.
I didn't dare open my mouth, the charged atmosphere around us was enough to make me remain silent. I was watching him from the corner of my eye; his strong hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, and his eyes focused on the road ahead of us, but those looks weren't empty, they were loaded with something deeper… Anger? Fear? Or determination?
Suddenly, I noticed that he had veered off the main road, and entered his car onto a dirt road that cut through a dense forest of trees. The sound of the wheels pierced the silence, and the muddy road made the car shake violently, until I felt my heart sway with each shake.
I looked around, the dense trees were closing in on us as if they were containing us in their own world, and the deeper we went into the forest, the more I felt afraid and lost.
Everything around me—the rumbling engine, the unsteady road, his static gaze—tightened my heart. "Gabriel…" I tried to say his name, but my voice came out weak and shaky.
He didn't look at me, just gripped the steering wheel tighter.
He stopped the car violently next to a small river, not waiting for the wheels to stop completely before opening the door and quickly getting out. I saw him from the car window, heading with nervous steps towards the edge of the river, where he held his head with both hands as if trying to suppress something inside him. It was clear that he was boiling inside.
I sat in the car for a moment, looking at him in silence, but my mind was filled with thoughts. What is happening? Why all this? Ever since this mysterious family moved next to us, I have been in a whirlpool of events and endless questions.
But something inside me did not allow me to stay where I was. I opened the car door slowly, trying not to disturb this deadly calm that surrounded him. I walked towards him with cautious steps, the sound of flowing water was the only background to this tense scene.
His back was to me, leaning slightly forward, as if trying to hide his weakness. For a moment, I felt that this man, who had always seemed so solid and rigid, needed something... maybe a word... maybe just someone to be by his side.
I hesitated for a moment before I lightly placed my hand on his shoulder. I wasn't sure how he would react, but instinct led me. I tried to keep my voice calm, sounding like I was approaching a wounded animal.
"Gabriel…"
He slowly raised his eyes to me, as if the words needed a moment to escape his lips. He smiled faintly, despite everything he was going through. The smile carried a kind of misleading calm, as if it was covering up a sea of internal chaos. I couldn't understand this constant contradiction in his mood, how could he be calm and seem confused at the same time?
He said with a strange smile, trying to lighten the atmosphere:
"How many times have you called me today?"
His question, despite its provocation, made me feel a little relieved. Because, simply, at that moment, he seemed fine enough to joke with me.
But I couldn't ignore the fear that was hiding behind that smile.
"Can you tell me what's going on…!?"
I asked the question softly, as if the words were sneaking in cautiously. I needed to understand what was going on around me, but his next words left me in a state of doubt.
He turned his lips in a quiet movement, then shook his head, saying:
"Believe me, if I knew, I would have told you. My mind is confused, his thoughts are scattered."
I couldn't disagree with him, his speech was precise, his eyes carried the same chaos he tried to hide, and his absent-mindedness at the river was evidence of how involved he was.
"Can I help you...?"
"Do you think you can help me..?"
"If you want, I won't stop myself either."
His sly smile widened even more as he leaned his back on the grass and rested his hands on his head, looking up at the sky.
"Who were the people who were with you there..?" I asked him seriously.
I saw how the smile disappeared from his face immediately after my question to him.
"As if you don't know them...?"
