Tokyo Jujutsu High, at the foot of Mount Ubusuna.
A crimson torii gate was blasted into pieces by a curse energy projectile as powerful as a cannonball—but that was only the beginning.
A man dressed in a Gojo-style monk's robe, with his long hair tied in a bun but still flowing down like a Christmas tree, stood atop a massive bird-like cursed spirit. With a mocking smile, he looked down at the school below.
Kenjaku kept his hands tucked inside the wide sleeves of his monk's robe. Behind him, black ripples hovered in the air like the barrels of cannons, continuously firing curse energy blasts formed from cursed spirits.
Under the relentless barrage, the school's barrier barely lasted five seconds before shattering.
The surrounding trees caught fire, thick black smoke rising into the sky, marking the beginning of the attack.
"Go on, enjoy yourselves," Kenjaku spread his arms as if embracing the chaos below.
Behind him, one cursed spirit after another crawled out of the black ripples, dropping from the sky and diving into the forest, heading straight for the school's inner facilities.
Though the number of cursed spirits Kenjaku prepared this time wasn't as overwhelming as in the Shinjuku attack, they were far stronger—each carefully selected, consisting of only Grade 1 and Grade 2 spirits, enough to buy him plenty of time for his plan.
The only one capable of taking out multiple Grade 1 cursed spirits at once was Gojo Satoru.
But "luck" was on their side.
Today, Gojo Satoru had gone to Kyoto Jujutsu High to discuss the schools' merger with Principal Gakuganji, leaving Tokyo Jujutsu High completely unguarded.
And with curse users eager for destruction on Kenjaku's side, even though this attack had been planned in a hurry, it was well-prepared.
"Itadori Yuji is all yours," the black-haired man said, watching the cursed spirits launch their assault.
"You don't have to tell me."
With an indifferent expression, Uraume was just about to jump off the bird's back when Kenjaku suddenly called out, "Oh, right. If possible, go easy on him."
"Hah?" Uraume narrowed their eyes.
"After all, Yuji is my son too."
Kenjaku's lips curled into a gentle smile, but to Uraume, it was nothing but sickening. It sent a shiver down their spine, filled with nothing but twisted amusement.
Without responding, Uraume let out a cold scoff and leaped off the bird's back. Their feet lightly tapped across the heads of the cursed spirits below, and in just a few quick movements, they disappeared into the forest, vanishing from Kenjaku's sight.
"Well, I only remembered recently, thanks to that dream."
The black-haired man kept his gentle smile, but his eyes were as cold as a snake flicking its tongue.
…
"Itadori!"
The worried voices of his friends rang in Itadori Yuji's ears—only to be drowned out by the sound of a violent impact in the next second.
A shadow suddenly appeared—fast as a panther—lunging straight at the pink-haired boy. It smashed through the dormitory wall, crashing into his room with him in tow.
Luckily, Itadori Yuji reacted in time, hastily raising his arms in front of him to block the attack.
But even then, it felt like being hit head-on by a small truck—his entire body screamed in pain, muscles and bones aching from the impact.
"What the hell…?"
Amidst the scattered debris, Itadori Yuji finally saw the attacker clearly.
It was a cursed spirit that looked like a massive pangolin.
Aside from its pangolin-like head, a dry, human face was embedded in its long, scaly neck.
Its muscular arms, covered in fine scales, were unnaturally thick, with razor-sharp claws extending from its fingers—sharp enough to slice open a person like a hot knife through butter.
The cursed spirit lowered its pangolin head, its long, slimy tongue dripping with a foul-smelling liquid as it licked Itadori Yuji's face, as if savoring the taste before devouring him.
"Ugh! Gross! And it stings?!"
He let out a disgusted yell.
Wherever that slimy tongue touched, a burning pain spread across his skin, leaving behind red, raw marks.
Itadori Yuji instinctively leaned his head back as far as he could, trying to avoid the slimy tongue coming at him. Then, he kicked hard at the pangolin curse's stomach, sending it flying and quickly breaking free from its grip.
But the next second, the determined look on his face completely fell apart.
"Wait! I just bought that not long ago!"
His panicked voice burst out as the pangolin curse, after giving the pink-haired boy a sharp glare, suddenly turned around. Its thick, powerful tail whipped through the room, swinging toward him.
At the same time, it sent the TV and game console on the cabinet crashing to the ground, smashing both to pieces.
"…Game console."
It was only then that the second half of his sentence came out.
The TV belonged to the dorm, but the game console? He had saved up for that himself.
There was no time to mourn his loss, though. The pangolin curse's tail lashed out again like a whip.
Yuji quickly ducked, barely dodging it, but then—
The sound of paper tearing echoed behind him.
He whipped his head around, only to see a poster of a blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty, now ripped in half by the tip of the tail.
His face twisted in horror, like a perfect recreation of *The Scream* by Edvard Munch.
"AHHH! MY JENNIFER LAWRENCE POSTER!!!"
With a heartbreaking scream, Itadori Yuji froze in place, turning into a lifeless, gray statue.
The pangolin curse had no idea why the pink-haired boy was so upset, but seeing his pain brought it great joy.
Lifting its head, it sneered at him with the dried-up human face on its neck.
"You're a curse, and you're wrecking my dorm. And now you're laughing at me? That's just messed up!"
Yuji slowly raised his head, the sadness in his expression disappearing.
His brows furrowed, and his eyes burned with rage.
His cursed energy flared in response to his emotions, surging like a blue flame around his fists.
"That was a *limited edition* Jennifer Lawrence poster!!! Do you have *any* idea how hard that was to get?!"
BOOM!
His furious shout came with a deafening crash.
The pangolin curse was sent flying, smashing through the dorm wall before crashing straight through the glass panels in the hallway. It landed hard in the front yard.
Yuji burst out of his room, ready to chase after the curse he had just punched across the dorm—
Only to find the hallway in complete chaos.
His three teammates were also fighting off the rampaging curses.
"There are way too many of them…"
He stood there, stunned for a moment, watching his friends battle.
Fushiguro Megumi and Kugisaki Nobara were each handling a curse on their own.
Meanwhile, Yoshino Junpei was getting wrecked by a curse that looked like a mushroom with arms and legs. He was barely managing to stay alive, hiding inside his jellyfish shikigami for protection.
"Junpei!"
Yuji shouted without thinking.
At that moment, he completely forgot about the pangolin curse and sprinted toward Junpei instead.
With one punch, he smashed the mushroom-headed curse right in the face, making it stumble to the side.
And because its oversized mushroom head made it top-heavy, losing balance meant it was going down.
The dark purple mushroom-headed curse wobbled a few times before tipping straight toward Junpei.
Yuji reacted fast, grabbing Junpei by the back of his collar and yanking him away.
BOOM!
A massive crash sent wooden splinters flying.
That soft-looking mushroom head? It smashed through the floor like it was made of solid rock.
"…Phew. Thanks, Yuji."
Junpei let out a nervous laugh, glancing at the curse with its head stuck deep in the wooden floor.
"No problem!"
Yuji grinned and gave him a solid pat on the shoulder. "Just be careful, alright?"
"Yeah, I got it!"
Junpei nodded firmly, then turned his attention back to the mushroom-headed curse, which was now struggling to pull its head out of the floor.
Seeing that Junpei was fine, Yuji turned back toward the dorm yard, looking for the pangolin curse he had knocked away earlier—
But no matter how hard he looked, its huge figure was nowhere to be found.
Instead, what he did see was a deep hole in the ground.
His eyes widened as he suddenly realized something.
The next second, as if to confirm Itadori Yuji's suspicion, the ground beneath his feet suddenly split open. Two beast-like claws grabbed his ankles and yanked him down.
"Whoa!"
The pink-haired boy let out a startled cry as he was dragged underground. Looking down, his eyes met two rows of eerie eyes on the head of a pangolin-like creature.
The tunnel it had dug was incredibly narrow, barely giving Itadori Yuji enough room to move. He struggled with all his strength, but he couldn't free his legs from the cursed spirit's grip.
And the creature wasn't just using its hands—it had a long, thin mouth lined with small, sharp, saw-like teeth. Its tongue, curled up inside, was also in plain sight.
Instinctively, he turned his head to the side. A moment later, that coiled tongue shot out like a bullet, grazing his cheek and leaving a thin cut before slamming into the solid dirt wall, creating a deep, narrow hole.
Cold sweat ran down Itadori Yuji's face. As he racked his brain for a way to escape, another tongue suddenly shot down from above, wrapping tightly around his waist and yanking him upward.
Caught off guard, he was actually pulled free from the pangolin cursed spirit's grasp.
He was flung high out of the tunnel, and when he turned his head, he saw Fushiguro Megumi's toad shikigami. A grin of relief spread across Itadori Yuji's face.
"Thanks, Fushiguro!"
"Hurry up and finish off your side, then come help!" Fushiguro Megumi called out while struggling to block an incoming attack from a mantis-like cursed spirit using his black blade.
His Divine Dog was already locked in battle with another cursed spirit, and summoning the Toad to assist Itadori Yuji had pushed him to his limit. The strain on his cursed energy was immense. Once Itadori was safe, the Toad vanished, melting back into a pool of shadow.
"I've got my hands full too!" Kugisaki Nobara shouted in frustration.
She sprinted down a hallway, not even looking back as she flung several nails behind her.
Chasing her were two ugly, vulture-like cursed spirits. Their wings were barely covered in a few gray feathers, exposing sickly-looking membranes. Even worse, their flesh was covered in eerie eyeballs that constantly twitched and shifted.
Her nails couldn't hit them while they were flying, but at the same time, their bulky forms made it hard for them to maneuver properly in the narrow corridor.
Reaching a corner, the orange-haired girl suddenly spun around, took a few running steps forward, and then slid under the vultures' talons just in time.
Unable to slow down in time, the two cursed spirits crashed headfirst into the wall. After flapping their wings wildly to regain control, they turned and continued their pursuit.
"Fushiguro!"
She shouted at the spiky-haired boy while throwing more nails into the air. The nails spun midair as they fell—just in time for her hammer to slam into them.
The nails shot forward like arrows, piercing the mantis cursed spirit Fushiguro Megumi had been struggling with. The impact sent it flying backward.
Finally free, Fushiguro Megumi dropped his long black blade and quickly formed a hand sign.
"Divine Dog!"
The moment he spoke, shadows stretched out beneath his feet. At the same time, his sword sank into the growing darkness along with him.
Kugisaki Nobara skidded to a stop and grinned.
"Resonance!"
The nails embedded in the ceiling and walls—the ones that had missed the vultures earlier—along with the ones lodged in the mantis cursed spirit's body, suddenly flared with a bright, blue-flame-like cursed energy.
A blinding light and a deafening explosion erupted at the same time. The nails turned into cursed energy bombs, detonating right as the vultures flew into the blast zone.
The two cursed spirits chasing Kugisaki Nobara were instantly reduced to ash.
The mantis cursed spirit, though much stronger, was caught off guard. Its chest was left completely exposed.
At that moment, the massive gray figure of Divine Dog burst from the shadow below, closing the distance in an instant.
Its claws slashed out, cutting through the mantis spirit's chest as easily as a hot knife through butter. With one powerful swipe, the cursed spirit was torn apart and collapsed lifelessly onto the ground.
At the same time, Fushiguro Megumi reappeared like a phantom behind the cursed spirit that had been fighting Divine Dog. Without a word, he drove his black blade straight through its core.
All four cursed spirits were eliminated. Their bodies crumbled into cursed energy dust, fading into the air.
Meanwhile, the mushroom-headed cursed spirit was pierced through multiple times by Yoshino Junpei's jellyfish shikigami, its tentacles leaving gaping holes in its body. It let out an unwilling cry as it fell backward.
With their battles finished, the three of them exchanged glances before turning their heads toward the dormitory's front yard.
There, still locked in combat with the pangolin cursed spirit, was Itadori Yuji.
