Chapter 8 Sharing The Same Bed

After being surprised for a full two seconds, Jiang Yixuan inquired, "What? Have I given you a call?"

Xie Liyun just silently gazed at her without saying anything.

The ends of those mist-like eyes were slightly curled, and they were as clear as rain. She gave a brief nod after some time.

Jiang Yixuan turned her head and touched her ears because she felt uneasy looking at her.

She glanced at the traffic outside the window before logging out of Weibo to save herself from embarrassing herself later on if her hand slipped.

There was silence during the whole trip.

When she arrived home, it was almost dark. Jiang Yixuan's uncle Jiang Hui called her as she was getting ready to leave the building, asking, "Uncle, have you been busy lately?"

Serious and decent, Jiang Hui uses exact language when speaking: "I can't keep you busy no matter how busy I am. For what duration are you back? I haven't even returned home for dinner."

"I've been busy lately," Jiang Yixuan said as she removed her coat. "I'll be back tomorrow."

"Is Ayun at home too?" asked Jiang Hui.

It seems that Jiang Yixuan is at home.

Xie Liyun had a hunch as to what she was discussing. Once her scarf was undone, she muttered, "I'll go back with you."

Mouthing "thank you," Jiang Yixuan answered her uncle, "We will come back together tomorrow."

"I'll ask your aunt to prepare dinner," Jiang Hui said in agreement.

Jiang Yixuan did not intend to end the call while she held the phone in her hands. With a tinge of flirtation here and there, she strolled upstairs and said, "You are busy with work, and you haven't talked to me in a long time."

She didn't realize that Xie Liyun was still standing in the living room and staring at her back because she was too preoccupied chatting on the phone.

..

The following day, I went back to Jiang's house at precisely four o'clock.

Jiang Yixuan arrived straight from the company and hurried to a live broadcast in the morning. Before arriving, Xie Liyun delivered a message. She made vitamins for the elderly after returning from home.

After meeting outside, the two pressed the doorbell. "Why did you bring so many things?" asked Aunt Tao Jiao, who personally answered the door and grinned as she grasped Jiang Yixuan's hand.

Taking her arm, Jiang Yixuan shook her, saying, "Auntie, if my uncle scolds me later, you have to protect me." Jiang Yixuan usually acted daintily toward her family members.

Jiang Hui must have been aware of the current public opinion stir that has been created.

As anticipated, he found Jiang Hui sitting by the window, glumly staring out of the window, reading a book. He asked, "It's almost the Chinese New Year; why are you still going out to film a show?"

Despite being fearless, Jiang Yixuan lost her parents when she was a small child. Gently, she said to her uncle, who had reared her, "Just do what i enjoy. Is that not acceptable?

Jiang Hui: "It's not about you, Xuanxuan; uncle is talking about." Do you, as a girl, want to go out and flaunt yourself like this, given the circumstances of our household? The family can't even afford to support one of you, let alone ten of you!"

His anger increased with each word he spoke. Since her debut, Jiang Yixuan has had nothing but trouble—scandals, scandals, and even a suspension two years ago. Despite being aware of all of this, Jiang Hui never took any effort to resolve these issues. Rather, he wished Jiang Yixuan could return home and become her eldest lady—or, perhaps more precisely, Mrs. Xie at this point.

Jiang Yixuan: "It's just my taste, though."

Jiang Hui: "What is your age? Do you want to be able to be consumed?"

Jiang Yixuan came to a halt.

An attack also caused Jiang Hui's blood pressure to skyrocket. Her aunt came forward, stroking her husband's back, half to lighten the mood, half to say, "Okay, stop talking." Please haste and decrease your uncle's blood pressure, Xuanxuan. "Bring me the medicine!"

With a firm grip on her lower lip, Jiang Yixuan turned around and headed upstairs to retrieve the medication.

Pouring Jiang Hui a drink of water, Xie Liyun murmured kindly, "Uncle, please calm down." Since Xiao Jiang is still young, doing what he enjoys is perfectly acceptable."

After sipping some saliva, Jiang Hui's fast breathing eventually became more relaxed. He then inquired, "Ah Yun, is Xuanxuan the one who convinced you to participate in this variety show this time? This girl needs you to go crazy with her because she can't handle going crazy by herself."

"I'm happy to accompany her to do something she likes," Xie Liyun said, shaking her head. Nothing is wrong with it.

Tao Jiao: That's correct; Ayun has always adored Xuanxuan, so I don't find it shocking at all that they're appearing on a show together this time. Alright, old Jiang, forget about the inexperienced pair. Get up if Ms. Xie is at fault. There is still time for us to put things right.

As Jiang Yixuan came downstairs, she happened to overhear this sentence.

Although the Xie family and the Jiang family were friends, she saw her marriage to Xie Liyun as her first priority because the Jiang family had decreased in recent years. To avoid upsetting Grandpa Xie, the family was extremely courteous to Xie Liyun as a result.

"Hey Xuanxuan, why are you standing there so stupidly?" The aunt asked her as she looked up. "Jiang Hui need consume the medication as soon as possible!"

In response, Jiang Yixuan descended the steps to Jiang Hui's side and said, "Uncle, take medicine."

With a snort, Jiang Hui swallowed the medication and remained silent.

Finally, this little episode is finished.

Tao Jiao remarked, "It's rare that you two haven't been busy recently," following dinner in the evening. Again, snow is falling outside. Let's spend the evening at home. Every day, Coco's room gets cleaned.

With a sidelong glance at Xie Liyun, Jiang Yixuan nodded, and Yan Yunzi said, "Okay."

Tao Jiao said, "I'll let Sister Zhao make chicken soup, and we'll have chicken soup noodles tomorrow morning."

Jiang Hui and Xie Liyun played chess after supper. Beside him stood Jiang Yixuan. She had to say, "Uncle, if someone else comes, I'm afraid they won't know who is the girl of our Jiang family," when she saw Jiang Hui's joyful expression.

With a fit of laughter, Jiang Hui asked, "Are you jealous of your wife?"

Xie Liyun rolled her eyes as well.

This kind of coquettish tone is unusual for Jiang Yixuan. Usually, she would treat her with either indifference or haughtiness.

"Okay, okay, I, an old man, don't need you to accompany me anymore," Jiang Hui said with a clap of his hands. You both may return to your rooms to recover."

Jiang Yixuan: "Alright, uncle, good night."

Xie Liyun followed her to her room.

Xie Liyun has visited this place previously. She's been here previously. But the elders never requested that Xie Liyun spend the night because she was ill, refused to share a bed, and was scared to make noise at night. Tao Jiao spoke out since it just so happened to be snowing today.

Pushing open the room's door, Jiang Yixuan said, "Come in."

A person's room is her personal space; thus, it seems sense that she would not want others to enter. It was difficult to let Xie Liyun sleep in the guest room, much as she disliked the idea.

There's no need to ask someone to sleep on the sofa because there's only one bed.

Xie Liyun is, after all, her lawful wife.

Xie Liyun waited for her to say something while standing at the door.

The entire aesthetic of the villa she and Jiang Yixuan inhabited was chilly and uncomplicated because it had been refurbished before they moved in.

The chamber of Jiang Yixuan is not the same. On the right side of the door is a separate closet where a long row of dresses, haute couture gowns, designer purses, and sunglasses are hanging. A whole set of all-white furnishings, pink-blue walls, and pumpkin carriage-shaped shelves adorned with several plush bears are located on the left. These furnishings, albeit adorable, are not in keeping with Jiang Yixuan's attitude.

Jiang Yixuan entered, took off her earrings, and then discovered two fresh pairs of pajamas before saying, "I'll take a shower first."

Xie Liyun said, "You go first."

Jiang Yixuan treated her rudely. She hurriedly emerged from the shower, her hair dripping with water and her skin drenched in wetness.

Before going into the restroom, Xie Liyun stated, "Blow-dry your hair early."

"Oh," said Jiang Yixuan.

Jiang Yixuan sighed with relief as soon as the water in the bathroom began to run.

Really, I'm not used to it. For the first time, Xie Liyun and I slept in the same room during the night.

Getting hitched is a major pain.

A wooden picture frame holding a picture of her and Xie Liyun from their wedding was set up on the table in the space.

Jiang Yixuan was blow-drying her hair as she fixated deliriously on the picture. Her aunt most likely added the photo because she was having trouble recalling when she took it.

Time goes by so quickly. In the blink of an eye, two years have passed since she wed Xie Liyun.

Jiang Yixuan looked at the picture for a while before realizing that Xie Liyun was twenty-four years old when they had first met.

She married Xie Liyun two years ago by coincidence. Yan Yunzhi was thirty-four years old and she was twenty-four.

With a bitter and resentful expression on her face, Jiang Yixuan perceived herself as Xie Liyun's enemy in the photo.

She remembered, half-consciously, that the cameraman had tried several times that day to get her to grin, but she just couldn't.

At last, Xie Liyun questioned gently, saying, "Smile, Jiang Yixuan. Alright?"

The water in the bathroom ceased to sound.

"Jiang Yixuan," Xie Liyun said as she approached wearing a hazy blue nightgown, "I want to blow dry my hair."

For her, Jiang Yixuan created space. Upon getting up, she realized she had neglected to get the wedding pictures and declared without hesitation, "My aunt arranged it."

She felt guilty about what she had said thereafter. She used this room. The wedding pictures that were on it were not weird in the slightest. It was made further clearer by saying this.

"It's quite beautiful," said Xie Liyun.

She lifted the corners of her mouth as she studied the picture.

She begged Jiang Yixuan to smile, remembering that day was not a good one for her. Jiang Yixuan responded angrily that it was not good. Ultimately, she was forced to encircle Jiang Yixuan's shoulders with her arms.

The girl's crimson ears gave away her nervousness even though she still didn't grin.

That exciting and lovely occasion is captured in the picture.

After blow-drying her hair to her satisfaction, Jiang Yixuan put on skincare products, raised a corner of the blanket, and lay down.

Warm, cozy, and fluffy is the quilt.

Despite the late hour, she was not tired.

The room's billowing sound came to an end.

I could hear snowflakes falling from the pine trees in the yard, and I could hear the north wind whistling outside the window.

All of a sudden, silence fell.

Jiang Yixuan experienced unease.

There was only the wall lamp beside the bed. Before long, a corner of the room gave way next to her, and she detected a faint whiff of a frigid scent.

She inhaled deeply, and the uneasy sensation intensified.

Jiang Yixuan ignored the person seated next to her. She fought the urge to turn over. She put down her phone and stopped toying with it.

Silent for a moment, Xie Liyun turned out the light.

Jiang Yixuan's insomnia persisted. In the gloom, she kept her eyes open. She had no idea how much time had gone, but she could feel some activity nearby.

Xie Liyun turned around, a small tremble visible on her back.

It seems as though she is suppressing a cough.

Or—was it just the way the wind was blowing that day?

Jiang Yixuan was unable to stay in bed any longer, so she got out of bed and gave Xie Liyun some water after sitting up and turning on the light.

"Did I disturb you?" Xie Liyun muttered, "Thank you."

Jiang Yixuan: "No worries. I was not able to sleep."

Setting down the cup, Xie Liyun said, "Go to sleep. I'm going to the study to spend some time reading."

Jiang Yixuan interrupted her, saying, "No, just stay here. I can't sleep. I'm not sleepy to begin with."

"It will disturb you," said Xie Liyun.

She had a broken and abandoned look as she turned her head, her long, narrow eyebrows furrowed, her thick eyelashes flutting as she coughed, and her tiny, thin profile. With her right palm, she caressed her chest tenderly and muttered, "It's really okay."

Cursing under his breath, Jiang Yixuan said, "Xie Liyun, what kind of quack did you seek before?"

Shaking her head, Xie Liyun said, "Don't say that. Jiang Yixuan.

"Ignore it. You remain here nevertheless. It's very late. My uncle and aunt will chastise me if they find out if you go out." With a sigh, Jiang Yixuan said, "I went outside to sleep."

Cough freely; your voice is represented in the contribution.

"I'm much better." Xie Liyun was yelling nonstop and was only able to grab her wrist and say, "Don't go out."

Jiang Yixuan froze at that moment.

Permit her to recline on the bed.
