Chapter 38

Isabella Martini - POV

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping, and as I opened my eyes, I was greeted with Sofia's smile. "Good morning, Isabella," she said, and I felt my heart almost stop. I could see the hurt in her eyes, and this made the guilt grow within me.

"Sofia, I am…" she raised her hand, signaling me to stop whatever I had to say.

"Am I mad at you for hiding your damn name? Yes. But I don't think I can be angry at you after what I heard happened at the ball last night." she asserted, and I felt my eyes water as I moved closer to her and pulled her into a hug.

"I know I shouldn't have hid my identity from you guys. But I am afraid, Sofia." I mumbled in her ear as I pulled back.
