I stepped out of Lorenzo's car, the cold night air clashing against my bare arms.
I leaned down to the open window and blew Lorenzo a kiss.
He caught it with that sly grin he wore like armor and held it to his chest.
"Take care of yourself," I said softly, my words brushing against the tension in my chest. "I will be here first thing tomorrow." he let out and I nodded
He revved the engine just enough to let the purr settle in my bones before driving off.
I turned to the red door of Camilla's apartment and slipped the spare key from my pocket.
The key hesitated in the lock, as if it, too, knew I wasn't welcome tonight. L
The room was dimly lit, shadows dancing against the walls from the flickering TV.
Camilla was curled up on the floor, not even the couch, with a half-empty bowl of popcorn cradled in her lap like something sacred.
