"So, which era are we going to?"
Naruto glanced at Kakashi, who was standing with a stunned expression, and then turned to Sako with a sly smile.
"Whatever. As long as it's a few years into the future! By then, we should know what's going on."
Sako glanced at Naruto and replied indifferently, but the excitement in her eyes was impossible to hide.
"Then let's see the world ten years from now!
Mr. Kakashi, we'll be back soon."
Naruto quickly adjusted the time, gave Kakashi a quick wave, and immediately pressed the start button on the time machine.
A dark hole suddenly appeared above Naruto and Sako. In a flash, the two were pulled into the vortex created by the time machine.
"This method of time travel is different from Sasuke's last attempt," Kakashi muttered to himself, narrowing his eyes as he stared at the now-peaceful space.
For Kakashi, it was the first time witnessing a time machine in action.
Konoha, Year 73
Hokage Office
Nara Shikamaru, the Sixth Hokage, was reviewing documents when his attention was suddenly drawn elsewhere.
The Nine Tails' chakra erupted, and the shadows around him extended in every direction, instantly surrounding a crack that had formed in the void.
Moments later, two figures emerged from the distorted space and stepped into his office.
"So it's you two!
It's been a while, Naruto, Sako..."
Recognizing them, Nara Shikamaru's tense expression relaxed, and he greeted them calmly.
"Shikamaru??
How did you become Hokage???"
Both Naruto and Sako's eyes widened in shock as they stared at Shikamaru wearing the Hokage's robe.
This revelation caught them completely off guard.
Sako, in particular, was dumbfounded. She had joked about Shikamaru becoming Hokage before, but to see it as reality...
"Well, I'm the Sixth Hokage now.
I didn't expect you two to travel to this time period.
Naruto, here's the information you were looking for."
Shikamaru chuckled at their surprise. With a nostalgic smile, he pulled a slightly old scroll from his desk and handed it to Naruto.
"Well, this makes things so much easier!
Sako, judging by Shikamaru's current state, it's clear everything is fine.
Now let's head back."
Naruto hesitated for a moment before taking the scroll. He then turned to Sako and urged her.
Since it was clear they had landed in their own timeline's future and not some parallel world, Naruto had no desire to explore further.
As a time traveler blessed by Doraemon, Naruto believed that knowing too much about the real future would ruin the excitement of shaping it himself. He even thought that if he ever regretted something, the time machine could fix it. Knowing everything in advance was not appealing to him.
"Go back now? Seriously?"
Sako frowned, clearly dissatisfied. She turned toward Shikamaru, her expression shifting between disbelief and concern.
"Shikamaru, how did you become the Sixth Hokage?
Does that mean I'm...?"
Everyone knew that the title of Hokage rarely changed hands unless due to a major event, such as a sacrifice. Smooth successions were almost unheard of.
For Sako, the idea of her contemporary, Shikamaru, being Hokage raised many questions.
"No, no...
You're perfectly fine!
You appointed me to be the Sixth Hokage.
Honestly, you left this troublesome job to me!"
Shikamaru waved his hand dismissively, his voice lazy but reassuring.
"Is that so?
Then where am I?"
Sako's face instantly lit up with relief, and she eagerly stepped forward to ask.
"Uh...
Well, I can't really say.
You'll find out soon enough."
Shikamaru hesitated, glancing briefly at Naruto before responding vaguely.
Naruto watched with a puzzled expression as Sako seemed deep in thought.
"Forget it, I'll go out and have a look..."
Sako said confidently, turning and striding outside.
After confirming she was fine, Sako's usual composure returned. She had come to this time to take a break from the pressures of her own era—if not now, then when?
"Aren't you going to stop her?"
Shikamaru looked at Naruto in surprise, a hint of amusement playing at the corners of his mouth.
"Why stop her? If she wants to go out, let her.
Anyway, let's talk about you, Shikamaru. Are you married yet? I'm very curious about this..."
Naruto grinned mischievously as he asked, his expression full of teasing.
He had a vague memory of cutting off Shikamaru's connection with Temari, so now he was genuinely curious about who Shikamaru might have married.
Shikamaru's face twitched slightly as he shot Naruto an incredulous look.
This guy... Does he even realize what he did back then?
Outside
After leaving the Hokage's office, Sako quickly made her way to her house.
Unlike Naruto's relaxed confidence, Sako was excited to glimpse her future. However, to avoid attracting attention, she used the Transformation Jutsu to change her appearance.
After all, she was once the Fifth Hokage—her presence could easily cause a commotion.
"Hehehe...
Sister, sister, come catch me!"
"Zarana, here I come!"
As Sako approached the Uchiha clan grounds and neared her house, she heard the laughter and playful shouts of children from the yard.
'Wait, children? In my house?'
Curiosity sparked within her. Sako paused at the door, then stepped inside, where she saw two little girls—a slightly older one and a much younger one—chasing each other around the yard.
The older girl had bright yellow hair, while the younger one had short black hair that mirrored Sako's own.
"Huh? Sister, I think I see Mom!"
Sako froze mid-step, startled by the younger girl's excited cry. Her foot hovered in the air, paralyzed as if struck by lightning.
'Mom? Mom? Mom?'
Her mind went blank, the little girl's joyous cry echoing in her head.
As Sako fully stepped into the yard, she dropped her Transformation Jutsu.
"Oh, it really is Mom! But why does Mom look so much younger?"
The older girl's eyes sparkled with delight as she saw Sako.
"I know! It must be one of Dad's magical gadgets!
Mom, Naruko missed you so much!"
With a flash, the older girl darted to Sako's side and hugged her tightly, her voice sweet and full of affection.
Meanwhile, the three-year-old girl, Zarana, ignited a faint Nine Tails Chakra around her body and rushed over to hug Sako's other side.
Sako's pupils dilated as she looked down at the two innocent faces clinging to her. Her heart trembled, overwhelmed by an unfamiliar emotion.
"You two... why are you calling me Mom?
And who is this 'Dad' you mentioned?"
Sako struggled to gather her thoughts, her voice tinged with confusion as she looked between the two girls.
"Why? Because Mom is Mom!
Mom is so silly she even forgot Dad!"
The three-year-old Zarana pouted and tilted her head, speaking in a tone far too mature for her age.
"Dad, that's Naruto!
Mom, you've been gone for half a month now. Did you bring us any gifts this time?"
The older girl, Naruko, glanced behind Sako and asked, "Mom, why are you the only one back this time? Where's Dad?"
But Sako barely heard their words. Her mind was stuck on a single, shocking revelation.
'Mom… Dad… Naruto?'
Her thoughts spiraled. 'So Naruto and I… we had kids? Not just one, but two?!'
The realization hit her like a thunderclap, leaving her utterly stunned. For a long moment, Sako stood frozen, unable to process this unexpected glimpse of her future.
