Chapter 124: Arrival

A few minutes later, Qingming returned to the room created by his Shadow Clone. The Sand Shinobi prisoners, who were held deep within the cave, had been taken care of. However, he wasn't in a rush to leave. Instead, he opened up his interface to review his progress over the past few days.

First up was the Genjutsu: Sharingan. Due to the way he had been relentlessly extracting chakra over these days, he had obtained about 30% more chakra than usual. All of that chakra was put into training the Genjutsu: Sharingan, which advanced it to level 6 a week earlier than expected.

As he had anticipated, once it reached level 6, even without much preparation, Qingming could unleash this genjutsu with remarkable effectiveness. Now, combined with his level 5 swordsmanship, even an ordinary Jounin would feel tremendous pressure fighting him.

And if given enough time to fully prepare and unleash the full power of Genjutsu: Sharingan, even a Jounin would meet their end once ensnared by it. Unfortunately, due to the battle experience and reflexes of most Jounin, it was rare that they would give him such an opportunity. The only way to "instantly kill" a Jounin would be to grind his Genjutsu: Sharingan to level 7, where he could cast illusions with the mere flick of a hand.

Even then, it would only be effective against average-level Jounin. Against elite Jounin, he'd need to upgrade his Sharingan to the Mangekyou level to strengthen his genjutsu and achieve an instant kill.

But once he reached that level, he'd have far more techniques at his disposal, and Genjutsu: Sharingan would no longer be his primary focus.

As for now... most lower- and mid-tier Shinobi would no longer stand a chance against him in a one-on-one fight unless they attacked him in large numbers.

After reflecting for a moment, Qingming shifted his attention to Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu and Fire Release: Dragon Flame Jutsu.

A week ago, both jutsu had reached the peak of level 3. Over the past week, he had gone out of his way to find a secluded location for training, focusing on leveling them up to level 4. With the breakthrough, both techniques had seen a significant increase in power.

However, the residual benefits left by Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Jutsu were nearly depleted. Each time he used these techniques now, they only gained 1 to 2 points of proficiency. So reaching level 5, the "perfect" level, would be no easy task, especially now that he no longer had access to his "chakra batteries."

Thankfully, these jutsu were merely supplementary for him and didn't affect the overall situation. So, for now, Qingming decided to put off leveling them up further.

His gaze dropped lower, landing on Wind Release: Great Breakthrough, currently at level 3 (410/1000).

This jutsu could have been more advanced by now, but over the past week, he hadn't had much time or opportunity to train it, so its proficiency remained unchanged. However, the chakra he saved from not practicing this jutsu wasn't wasted.

With a flick of his palm, wisps of chakra gathered in his hand, soon forming a visible ball of energy.

Indeed, he had been using the excess chakra to practice the Rasengan, finally achieving an entry-level mastery.

In terms of difficulty, Rasengan had been the most challenging skill to learn so far. Even his Mirror Heart Jutsu, which consumed the most chakra, had required less than 20,000 chakra points to master.

But the Rasengan?

After doing some mental calculations, Qingming estimated that it had taken him at least 65,000 chakra points to get this far.

What does that mean?

To put it in perspective, if he had used that amount of chakra on Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu, even without the benefits of Phoenix Sage Fire, he could have leveled it from 0 to 3. This showed just how difficult mastering Rasengan truly was!

This technique was not suitable for someone with limited chakra unless they possessed someone like Konohamaru's incredible talent, who could grasp the essence of the jutsu with just a simple demonstration and a few verbal tips from Naruto. Otherwise, one would have to slowly grind proficiency, which required vast amounts of chakra. Most Shinobi couldn't afford such a cost.

Despite using such a massive amount of chakra, Qingming's situation was much better than Naruto's. Naruto's consumption was more in line with what the average person would face when learning Rasengan.

Qingming, on the other hand, while not extraordinarily gifted, had the assistance of his proficiency panel. Each attempt gave him new insights, making his progress more consistent and much quicker than the norm.

Returning his thoughts to the present, Qingming dispersed the Rasengan in his hand.

Although he had mastered the basics, his Rasengan still lacked in speed and density, meaning it wasn't ready for combat yet. But now that he had reached the beginner level, grinding proficiency would be much faster. As long as he could maintain the Rasengan, his proficiency would steadily increase.

Otherwise, he couldn't even begin to imagine how long it would take to get it to a level where he could add Wind Release chakra.

Feeling somewhat relieved, Qingming finally directed his attention to the bloodline and chakra sections of the interface.

His Three-Tomoe Sharingan's evolution, catalyzed by Mirror Heart Jutsu, had now reached (1702/10000).

Meanwhile, his chakra reserves had increased from 17,380 to 19,828 over these past few days.

Having nearly 20,000 chakra points gave Qingming a solid sense of security.

After closing the interface, Qingming took one last look at the room created by his Shadow Clone before leaving without looking back.

Three Days Later.

Land of Earth.

Approximately 200 kilometers northwest of Iwagakure, Qingming stood on a large rock, gazing down at the battle in the valley below with an impassive expression.

On the battlefield below, although the Iwa Shinobi outnumbered the enemy, they were on the defensive, while the fewer Kumo Shinobi were on the attack. This imbalance was primarily due to the fact that the Kumo Shinobi were an elite force and because the Third Raikage was leading the charge.

The Third Raikage alone required Iwa to dispatch at least three Jounin to hold him off. Even so, the Raikage still found opportunities to kill or seriously injure one of them every now and then.

Watching the lightning-clad Raikage, whose speed was as fast as lightning itself, Qingming frowned, calculating his odds if he were to face him.

After a long deliberation, Qingming concluded that he had no chance of winning.

With the defensive power of the Raikage's Lightning Release Armor, he had no means of breaking through.

And with the Raikage's speed, none of his genjutsu would even land.

In other words, during the fight, Qingming would only be on the receiving end.

Considering the devastating power of the Raikage's Hell Stab, Qingming knew he couldn't afford to clash head-on. His only option would be to dodge.

Even with the aid of his Sharingan, he wouldn't be able to evade for long given his current speed.

So, all things considered, he had no chance of victory.

"Looks like I still have a long way to go before I can match the top-tier Shinobi in the world."

Muttering this to himself, Qingming released his Shadow Clone Jutsu, and his clone's form dissipated into chakra, bringing the memory of everything it had seen back to the main body.
