Chapter 214: Sarah's Crisis
South Sea, Old City.
The city walls outside the old city were somewhat dilapidated, even to the point of being broken down.
No one would build walls for the people in these slums; these walls were also built voluntarily by the residents of the old city, with some holes patched up with iron sheets.
At the junction of the old city and the new city, there was an electric fence and a security post.
Generally speaking, when the old city was attacked by monsters, the security post would immediately raise defenses and call for support.
No one cared about what happened to the old city.
The residents of the old city were even used as flesh and blood to block the monsters' attacks.
Outside the old city, a piece of iron sheet filling a hole was easily cut open, and more than thirty raggedly dressed people sneaked in.
The leader was a thin middle-aged man with a pale face, looking terminally ill.
"It's really humiliating that we, the Moon Worship Sect, have to crawl through a dog hole!" the middle-aged man cursed.
A disciple of the Moon Worship Sect beside him whispered:
"Elder Twenty, the Security Bureau is in South Sea, we have to be careful."
The thin middle-aged man cursed:
"Just because I was promoted by the old sect master?
So I have to be targeted by the great elder? That dead ghost, he's dead, so be it!
Even in death, he drags me down, damn it!"
As he spoke, the thin middle-aged man took out a cigarette from his pocket, shakily lit it, and exhaled a puff of thick smoke with a look of enjoyment.
The smoke smelled fragrant, unlike regular tobacco.
This Elder Twenty clearly had some bad habits.
"Elder Twenty, duck down, someone's coming!" a disciple of the Moon Worship Sect noticed something and immediately alerted his companions.
The Moon Worship Sect members quickly crouched down, hiding among some rubble.
Since the old sect master's passing, the Security Bureau's administrators had warned the Moon Worship Sect members that anyone appearing in the city would be wanted by the Security Bureau.
They didn't dare expose themselves to the city's sunlight.
Elder Twenty, looking indifferent, symbolically lowered his head, still smoking, and muttered softly:
"Who would have thought the Security Bureau people would come so quickly?
If I had known, I would have come to South Sea with my senior brothers first.
Otherwise, why would I be crawling through a dog hole?"
From the perspective of the Moon Worship Sect disciples, a valiant female security officer led ten security officers to the area.
They held flashlights, scanning around.
The Moon Worship Sect disciples held their breath.
"Captain, there's no one here," a security officer said to the female security officer.
The female security officer shone her flashlight around, her gaze lingering on the damaged iron sheet.
"Hmm?"
She stepped forward, followed by several security officers.
"Captain, it might have been damaged by monsters during the last attack.
The residents of the old city didn't notice, and it hasn't been repaired yet," a security officer said.
Another security officer added: "Don't worry, Captain, if monsters had entered the old city, there would have been a commotion long ago. These claw marks look old."
The female security officer examined for a while and nodded:
"It does look like beast claws tore it open.
But we can't be careless.
Tell the brothers not to just patrol the old city walls, but to check every house."
With that, the female security officer led the dozen security officers away.
Once the security officers were far away, a Moon Worship Sect disciple peeked out, looked around, and said: "Elder, they've gone far, let's enter the city."
Elder Twenty stood up shakily, his eyes unfocused, feeling high.
He took a deep drag on his cigarette and threw the butt on the ground:
"Hmph, the security officers in South Sea are just a bunch of useless drunks.
Stop hiding, let's go, enter the city.
After entering the city, find Reed Richards, and get some women to relax."
The youthful figure of the female security officer made the high Elder Twenty's mouth dry.
He took out another cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and felt euphoric again.
A disciple of the Moon Worship Sect held a map.
It was the safe route from the old city to the new city.
More than thirty disciples of the Moon Worship Sect were following along the dusty road toward the new city.
Suddenly, the headlights of several cars shone ahead.
Elder Twenty squinted at the light.
He focused his gaze.
In the darkness, three security cars blocked the road.
Dozens of security officers, holding standard weapons, stared at them menacingly.
Leading them was the female security officer.
She crossed her arms and sneered at them:
"Who are you?
Why did you sneak into South Sea City?"
A disciple of the Moon Worship Sect muttered under his breath: "Damn! We've been set up by this woman!"
Elder Twenty was unfazed and looked at the female security officer playfully:
"We hid well; you shouldn't have found us."
The female security officer glanced disdainfully at the cigarette in Elder Twenty's hand and spoke:
"I could smell that stench from afar."
The female security officer, named Sarah, was a disciple of Tie Lin, now the Captain of the Martial Division of the South Sea Security Bureau.
Like her master, she was highly skilled, able to discern the components of any banned substance, even from a whiff.
A disciple of the Moon Worship Sect whispered to Elder Twenty:
"Elder Twenty, let's go.
The great elder said if we're discovered, we should leave immediately, and mustn't cause any casualties among the South Sea security officers."
Elder Twenty's face darkened: "He's an elder, and I'm not?!"
Elder Twenty stared at Sarah and said:
"The great elder is afraid that if we kill the security officers, we'll attract the attention of the Security Bureau.
But think about it, Reed Richards is one of us.
He knew we were going to enter South Sea City from the old city tonight, yet he still had security officers patrolling here, what does that mean?"
The disciple was puzzled: "I don't know."
Elder Twenty extinguished his cigarette, a shrewd light flashing in his eyes: "It means he wants to use me to eliminate his enemies!
Patrolling the old city during the New Year must have offended Reed Richards.
I'll do him a favor and kill them all!
Watch, Reed Richards will cover this up."
The disciple felt something was wrong but couldn't pinpoint it.
He finally shut his mouth and waited for Elder Twenty's orders.
Sarah frowned slightly: "Hands on your heads, come with me to the Security Bureau for investigation!"
A strong spiritual wave emanated from Elder Twenty, shattering the headlights of the security cars, plunging the scene into darkness.
Someone lit a firework, illuminating the sky.
In the light of the fireworks, Sarah saw a cruel smile on the addict's face.
"Little girl, you're too young to know what true horror is."
Behind Elder Twenty, a pair of huge black wings spread out, over three meters long.
Each wingtip bore a claw.

An immense pressure enveloped everyone, and a drop of cold sweat dripped from the security officers' temples.
