Chapter 217: Azure Water City Nightclub

Chapter 217: Azure Water City Nightclub

Letting Ethan Blake bring the Moon Worshippers in through the front gate? That was impossible. The Moon Worshippers had to enter through the old city and would still face Sarah's sniper fire.

Reed Richards smashed a wine bottle on the living room floor, shards of glass and liquor scattering everywhere. His wife and son shuddered simultaneously. Fear flickered in their eyes, but they quietly continued eating.

The phone rang, and Reed Richards answered with a calm tone: "Hello, this is Reed Richards."

The voice on the other end was low and menacing: "Director Reed, you're not being honest."

Reed froze. It was an elder from the Moon Worshippers.

A month ago, before the Security Division had arrived in North Sea City, the city's defenses were far less strict. Some Moon Worshippers had already infiltrated the city. Among them were several elders of the Moon Worshippers, all powerful A-rank and B-rank practitioners.

Reed realized this was the Moon Worshippers coming to settle accounts. He quickly replied: "Elder Max, please let me explain. It's not what you think. This is all Ethan Blake's doing! I can't get through to him."

Elder Max sneered: "A dignified Security Division director who can't control his subordinates? Do you think I'll believe that? Are you trying to gain benefits from us while currying favor with the Security Division? Have you forgotten our agreement? Have you forgotten what we're capable of?"

By the end, Elder Max's voice was filled with murderous intent.

Reed's hand trembled, nearly dropping the phone. Elder Max possessed a peculiar talisman. Once bound to a person's spiritual essence, it could be activated at any time, causing the bound individual to experience unbearable pain, like being gnawed to the bone by a thousand ants. Elder Max claimed this talisman was how the Moon Worshippers kept their subordinates under control.

Reed gave a bitter smile: "Why would I dare betray you? It's just that Ethan Blake is too stubborn."

Elder Max let out a cold laugh: "Fine. I'll trust you this once. But keeping him around is a liability. I'll send you an address. Bring him there, and the rest will no longer concern you."

Reed received a text message on his phone.

North District, No. 92 Road, Azure Water City Nightclub.

Reed hurriedly asked: "You're not planning to kill him, are you? The Security Division is still conducting operations in the North Sea. Killing a deputy director would cause a lot of trouble!"

Elder Max replied impatiently: "Just handle your part! Don't tell me you can't even arrange a meeting with him."

Reed remained silent for a moment. Getting Ethan Blake to meet him wasn't difficult. Aside from matters of principle, Ethan Blake had never defied him and held great respect for him as the director. But he feared the trouble the Moon Worshippers would bring. Yet, his life was already in their hands. What choice did he have?

Reed sighed heavily: "No problem."

Elder Max's tone softened: "Relax. The Security Division is currently too busy to care about a mere deputy director. And don't worry, you'll receive everything we promised. Do your job well, and if anything goes wrong, the Moon Worshippers will protect you. After all, you're the one we've chosen."

With that, Elder Max hung up.

Reed pondered Elder Max's words. The Security Division is busy? What could they be so preoccupied with? Could this be why the Moon Worshippers chose tonight to act in the North Sea? Unable to figure it out, Reed grew irritable.

The Security Division was keeping him in check. Ethan Blake disobeyed him. Now, the Moon Worshippers were threatening him.

Reed glanced at his wife, who was quietly eating. He suddenly threw a wine bottle at her head: "All you do is eat! You're nothing but a pig!"

His wife cried out in pain, clutching her bleeding forehead as she collapsed to the floor, sobbing softly. His son shivered, putting down his bowl and stammering: "Dad, I'm full."

Reed grabbed his bowl and threw it at his son, yelling: "Look at you! Pathetic! When will you grow up to be a man like me?"

Reed Richards cursed loudly: "Useless trash, all of you!"

Grumbling, he grabbed his coat and stormed out. Instead of driving to the northern district, he headed to a luxurious apartment complex in the western district, where his mistress lived.

Reed also planned to call over a few more women to vent his frustration. He had no intention of going to the Azure Water City Nightclub himself.

If Ethan Blake ended up dead at the Azure Water City Nightclub, and the Moon Worshippers decided to cut ties with him, how could he explain himself? All he needed to do was lure Ethan Blake there and complete the task assigned by the Moon Worshippers.

Sitting in his car, Reed sent Ethan Blake a text message.

Soon, Ethan replied: "Received."

Driving a patrol car toward Reed Richards' residence, Ethan Blake turned his vehicle around and headed for the Azure Water City Nightclub.

At the Azure Water City Nightclub, neon lights illuminated the area in vibrant hues. The lobby was grand and resplendent, with an air of opulence. Several hostesses stood gracefully at the entrance.

It didn't look like a seedy place. But for many businesses, the more glamorous the setting, the more likely it was to harbor illicit activities.

A patrol car pulled up at the entrance. Ethan Blake stepped out, walking toward the nightclub doors.

The security guards watching over the place frowned at the sight of Ethan in his law enforcement uniform.

Why would a cop show up during the holiday season? Usually, law enforcement officers coming to such places for "fun" wouldn't wear uniforms. From past experience, such situations often meant the officer needed money and was looking for a bribe.

A white-haired young man exiting the restroom noticed Ethan approaching. He quickly pushed aside two security guards and greeted him with a smile: "Deputy Director Ethan, what brings you here?"

Ethan looked at the young man suspiciously: "Why are you here?"

Ethan recognized this man as Mad Wolf, a bodyguard for Giovani, a well-known local figure.

Mad Wolf chuckled: "A big client booked the entire nightclub, so Brother Giovani asked me to keep an eye on things."

Currently, all entertainment venues in North Sea City were under Giovani's control.

Mad Wolf, however, didn't reveal that the "big client" was Reed Richards.

He hesitated for a moment before asking: "Are you here as a guest in Room 3602?"

Ethan glanced at the text message on his phone. The number matched: 3602.

Mad Wolf noticed and grinned: "Since it's you, today's on the house. We're old friends, after all."

Mad Wolf knew Reed was the one who had booked the venue, but he didn't offer any special treatment to Reed. Things were different with Ethan—Ethan's status demanded respect.

Without a word, Ethan brushed past Mad Wolf and headed directly to the third floor.

Mad Wolf watched Ethan's back, a flicker of confusion in his eyes: "What's Deputy Director Ethan doing with those outlaws?"

Room 3602 was already filled with guests, all of whom exuded a bloody aura. None of them looked like ordinary people.

Mad Wolf waved over one of his men, who quickly came over.

Mad Wolf asked: "Has Reed Richards arrived yet?"

The subordinate shook his head: "Reed went to Rose Garden Estate instead. He also called over two women."

The subordinate added: "They're from another venue."

Mad Wolf furrowed his brows, deep in thought. After a moment, he pulled out his phone and called Giovani: "Boss, something's off here. I think there's a problem."
