chapter 3

Is a sunny Sunday morning and as usual the Christain are off to their place of worship,the sounds of different voices of pastor are heard praying and singing,I arrived yesterday and I decided to spend my entire today sleeping and preparing for my interview tomorrow, as I lay on my bed looking at the white ceiling board above me ,My mind drafted back to five years ago after we were chase From abuja ,we went to owerri ,mama maternal home ,I was just a secondary school graduate with no working experience,and I had to work part time to see my self through the university,thou it wasn't easy couple with the burden of been an expectant mother at a young age,after I put to bed with the help of mama and her long time friend Rose,but I call her aunty rose,I had to work

three different job all together so as to sort my bills and take Care of mama and mark.I leave mark most of the time with mama at home ,basically mark grown to be very fond of mama and aunty roses because they are always with him I only come back at midnight where he might have gone to bed ,my only free days are on Sunday where by spending that day with him,taking him out and doing his schoolwork.I made a few friends in owerri but my closest friends is Ryan,Ryan took mark as his son providing him with the fatherly love and support mark needed,mama had always wished for me and Ryan to be an item and am sure Ryan feel so too but the chemistry is not there my heart still yarn for a certain someone i left five years ago.

Mama is already old and she is sick, she is diagnosed with high blood pressure ,the sickness started when I lost both my parents at a gas explosion,

My father basil work in a gas station as the manager ,and my mother sells groceries at the front of the station ,my late parents are not rich but they manage to feed and take care of my basic needs,

So it happened on that faithful friday afternoon,there was a leakage at one of the pipe that supply gas to the gas tank,my father was a very hardworking manager how that pipe got damaged is still a mystery to some many people,when the leakage got too much and the ray of the sun hitting it , the gas station exploded killing a lot of people including my both parents .

When mama heard the news, her blood pressure increased and she fainted at the spot,she was rushed to the hospital by some good neighbors,I was still in elementary school then so I didn't know much about what happen but I remember a lot of people were coming to our home to console us .

Mama had to take me away from my parents home and took me in,snice am her only family remaining

She always say I look just like her daughter my mother ..

As for my father I don't really know much about him and his family and mama had never answered my question any time I asked her about my father or his family name ,mama made me answer her father name which is jaren

The knock on the door jolted me back to reality ,I wipe the tears that was forming on my eyes and went to see who knock ,

"Good morning miss thelma,breakfast is ready "said mrs Benny the housekeeper,but Zoe usually call her aunty because she is way older than her and almost same age as her mother,

"Thanks aunty,let me brush my teeth I will be outside shortly "I replied her with a smile .

After washing my face and brushing my teeth I went to the dinning table to join mama and Zoe.

We ate our meals quietly only the chewing of mouth and spoons could be hear,Zoe had to break the silence

" Thelma what are your plans for the Sunday " she ask me.

"Nothing much,sleeping ,watching movies and playing games on my phone "I replied her laughing.

*cough ,cough cough "here take some water Zoe hand over water to mama who was holding her chest while coughing.

"Is your medication still remaining "I asked mama looking at her pitifully

"Yes ,turning to mrs Benny"please can you go to my room and get me that black bag on top of the dressing table "she asked mrs Benny

" sure ma "mrs Benny replied and went towards mama room

"Back to my questions,"Zoe said turning to me "wouldn't you accompany me to my parents house today,my mum asked me to come and moreover I told them you and mama are back and they are eager to see you both .

This time it was mama that spoke "my dear I will have love to but am not too strong to go out today please help me tell them I will come and see them another time "

I joined mama by telling her to extend my greeting to her kid brother that I will make sure I come spend some days with them.

She finally agreed and we eat the rest of our breakfast in silence.

In the middle of the busy town of Abuja,in a Luxurious bedroom,inside a king size bed ,two naked bodies which comprised of a male and a female was seen sleeping ,it seems they just finished what looked like a marathon sex.

The male sat up on the bed,looking at the screen of his phone,his face immediately got frown,hitting the female aggressively in her bare back he said harshly to her

"Get out from my bed and leave my house "

With a sleeping eye she turn towards him trying to hold his hands

"Are you deaf,I said get out of my house " this time he stood up from the bed,heading towards the bathroom "I don't want to see you here when am out of the bathroom,your service here is over,take that money on the table and leave"he said

The lady finally awake and aware of the whole scenario was shocked "Nelson is that how you treat ladies,you brought me to your house,had sex with me more that twice throughout the night and here this morning you will not even let me have a good sleep you asking me out of your house "she said with a sharpen voice .

"You heard me bitch ,take that money and leave here"Nelson shouted from the bathroom." Or I will asked musa to drag you out"

With that he laid inside the bathtubs ,close his eyes as if he is thinking about something and washed himself.

The Sunday is finally coming to an end ,zoe is back from her parents house ,the company am to get interview with promised to send me the time that they scheduled to hold the interview,Finally they sent it,I rushed to the room to checked my mail to see the time for my interview,I have just few hours to Monday .

" here take it"Zoe said stretching her hand to give me a package as she enter my room.

" what inside"I asked .

"You asked too many questions just open it "she said stretching her hand's towards me

I took it and open the box is a set of office wear with a black shoe to match it .

I jumped on her and thanked her very much for her assistance .

"You must get this job Thelma no excuse "she said laughing.

Mama walked in to see what going on,after I told her what Zoe bought for me she thanked her very well and as usual will always pray for a good husband for the both of us.
