Guilia POV:
Well he'd really done it this time, I thought he was joking when he told everybody to go out into the streets and have fun. Turns out he wasn't, the party they had lasted all night and ended with state police coming in and shutting it down. We did get some of their men arrested but like half of ours were as well. What made matters worse was he told the cops to stand down, so when the state troopers arrived it was totally obvious we had them in our pocket.
I'd seen him make rash decisions before, putting bullets in people's heads because he was sick of the sight of them. I had done that once too. What I didn't understand is why he was going to such an effort for the holier than thou freak! She thought she knew everything and was such a saint. It was nauseating to think about, but no all Daddy did was come up with ideas to get her here.
He was trying to drive a wedge between her and that slimeball Risci right now, I didn't think it'd work. I'm supposed to hand her some photos of him doing something bad and she'll refuse but we will take photos of the exchange. This way, Marco can hand the photos over to Giovanni and it'll look like she's a snake.
I think they're perfect for each other the way she's like determined to be his perfect little wife. I saw them out on the town the other night. It was totally unfair he'd bought her those shoes, I had asked for them weeks ago but Daddy was still neglecting me.
All this was doing was confirming it was time for a change of power. He was losing his mind over stupid Arianna. I just had to collect a little evidence and hand it over to the right people, then the new Capito family head would take care of the Risci family.
How he still saw her as his daughter was baffling, she was a traitor. Remember what she did to my wedding dress? She even tried to get in my head and make me think she cared. She had no clue what she was dealing with. Daddy could fly off the rails sometimes and he was getting close, letting the men lose on the city was only the first step. Soon he'd just kidnap her and I doubt the men would be gentle. They never knew when to stop, they all thought they were entitled to something.
One Quick Look at the boss's daughter, a hug that lasts too long, a quick brush of my hair. I shuddered at the thought. They'd all realize soon enough what their devious little fantasies have cost them.
I kept the folder underneath my bed of photos of my dad at the drug rings and his tickets to Switzerland. He had a bank account there that I'm sure would lock him up right away.
He was in a horrible mood because Hector got picked up yesterday. I had to snicker at the perv being stupid enough to steal his breakfast in front of the fed that's been breathing down our neck for a year. A cute fed, but a fed nonetheless.
I sighed standing up and brushing myself off picking out an outfit, Marco knocked on the door and entered the room quietly while selecting something to play my part in today.
"I still think it's a very bad idea," he whispered.
I rolled my eyes. "Like I care, I'm sick of him using me like a doll!" I scoffed.
Marco was so against me trying to put Daddy in jail and take over the gang, but like he did everything I told him to so what was the point? He could argue all he wanted we knew he would do as I asked, so couldn't he just be quiet like a good little boy?
I grabbed a soft pink dress and sweater I needed to appear innocent today. Like a concerned sister, someone who cared how Mother Mary felt. I growled thinking about having to suck up to that primadonna, but for a little while longer what daddy wants daddy gets.
We hopped in the car and headed out to the meeting spot. My sister had been spotted shopping without Gio of course she had her little shadow by her. He was almost as handsome as Giovanni, somehow he wasn't related to Risci but my hunky Viking was. I couldn't quite understand it but genetics were weird.
I patted Marcos's knee skipped out of the car and walked up to her as timidly as I could manage. Of course that eagle-eyed watchdog spotted me first his hand going to the gun at his side as he told her to get behind him.
"Oh my goodness you're so right I'm gonna hurt her in broad daylight with a pack of feds in town," I sneered at him and he squinted at me.
She peered coldly from behind him. I couldn't tell if I liked this more than the false adoration she'd given me in the beginning. It was nice having one more adoring fan but I knew she didn't truly care about me. All those years spent apart, no way did she give two shots of what happened to me.
"Can I talk to you privately for a moment?" I asked her side eyeing the watchdog.
"Yeah so you can kidnap me, unlikely," she hissed.
"It's just me look around," I gestured to the people around us it was true there wasn't anybody around.
She looked hesitant but then she nodded and walked over to the corner of the shop with me. I handed her the envelope and like clockwork.
"Bullshit he's been with me the last couple of weeks, all day every day. Nice try," she handed the envelope back.
It was almost too easy. She stomped off to her guard and they ran off back to their little corner of the city to hide.
I sighed getting back in the car and speeding home. Normally I'd shop or something but I wasn't in the mood today. I felt so bored lately nothing was exciting, nothing was fun. With all this fighting in the streets, it was annoying to even look for shoes.
We walked back into the house and something was off. The men didn't look at me, at all they turned away like I was Medusa. I turned to Marco who looked concerned he grabbed my arm.
"We should go," he practically ordered me.
I wrenched my arm away. "Excuse you?" I wanted to shout at him but before I could someone else grabbed my arm.
I swatted at the man screeching to get off of me so that my dad would hear about it but he started dragging me towards my father's office.
"Like hell, you gave him permission to touch me!" I snapped.
This was one step too far. I'm not something these creeps can be this close to.
"You should do well to read a room at least once in your life," my father's voice was cold and distant as he spoke he sat by the fireplace not looking at me. I looked over my shoulder Marco wasn't in the room.
"What's wrong I did it just like you asked," I felt my stomach churn. Something was wrong.
"You did, you've been the perfect daughter lately," he turned to me that blank look in his eyes. "So naturally I knew something was wrong," he sighed grabbing the folder I had.
"I don't know what that is," I immediately started to defend myself.
"You do," he held up a hand. "Paulie told me everything,"
I was going to have Marco kill that rat and dump his body in the ocean. I had gone to a few of my father's men who were in love with me, they were supposed to be on my side. Paulie had been obsessed with me for years practically drooling over me at every meal.
"He wouldn't have," I scoffed.
My dad laughed and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up as goose bumps sprouted across my arms. "Oh but he did," he opened it up looking at the photos and the account logs. "He did," the disappointment soaked every word.
"You held for weeks," I pouted. Tears forming in my eyes I had to get him to see this was his fault, not mine. He did this when he shut me up in my room again.
He walked around the table slowly. "You know I'm dealing with a very challenging time right now. Your sister has abandoned us, Risci has the people in high spirits, the feds are crawling up our ass, and now, now this!"
I didn't see it coming, but his closed fist swung quickly. For an old man, he still had a lot of strength in him, the sting sensation hit my cheek, and pounding entered my head I fell to the floor my mind fuzzy.
"Take her upstairs,"
That was the last thing I remembered before I was hauled over a shoulder, my father returning to his work as he slunk back around the desk.
