White-Furred Monkeys

Jian Bu channeled his bloodline while looking for clues. Finding his progenitor's inheritance would be useful.

The cave had already been fully explored, so Jian Bu didn't see a reason to start there. He went outside and climbed the mountain. During this time, he didn't stop channeling his bloodline energy, hoping for his ancestor's inheritance to resonate with him. But so far, nothing had happened.

Jian Bu was now dressed in a purple robe with golden lining. His back was straight, and his eyes were as confident as ever. With his newfound strength, he didn't think anyone could stop him anymore. However, he wasn't yet fully comfortable with his strength, which was a serious issue he had to fix before battling anyone again.

Suddenly, a white-furred giant monkey smashed a giant metal rod toward Jian Bu's head. It had been biding its time, ready to strike the perfect blow. Unexpectedly, the gorilla landed the blow, and Jian Bu was sent flying. The area on his head was now bloodied. Jian Bu grabbed his head in pain and stood up, staring at the monkey in front of him with deep bloodlust. He took out his sword and used the thrust technique of the Jian Clan Dao Sword Art, but the monkey easily dodged the attack. It then used its staff to crush Jian Bu's legs below his kneecaps. However, Jian Bu used the Silent Night Steps to dodge the attack and positioned himself right behind the ape. He channeled his energy, and the illusion of a tiger's paw appeared on his left hand—this was the famous Tiger Fist of the Jian Clan. He smashed the ape right in its head, sending it 20 meters away.

The monkey was enraged now and let out a shriek. Quickly, many other white-furred giant monkeys appeared, attacking Jian Bu in unison. Jian Bu quickly channeled his energy again, and an aura barrier formed around his entire body. His hands and legs now resembled tiger limbs—this was the Tiger Body technique. He was ready to receive the monkeys' sudden attack. The monkeys, with confident smiles, were ready to pummel Jian Bu until he turned to mincemeat. But suddenly, Jian Bu roared. A loud, piercing noise attacked the monkeys' ears, and blood came out of their noses. The monkeys were ready to perform a huge attack, but their blood now fell in reverse. They took a massive hit, their inner injuries making them stumble to the floor. Only the monkey with the staff was slightly better.

Jian Bu took this opportunity to kill them all in one fell swoop. His limbs still resembled those of a tiger. He channeled his Qi into his legs and performed the Tiger Steps, greatly enhanced by the Tiger Body. He swiftly decapitated one monkey and used the sword dance move of his Dao Sword Art to quickly eliminate the rest. When he was about to reach the staff-wielding monkey, two much larger monkeys attacked him from behind. These monkeys' fur shone with a golden sheen. They smashed their staffs directly onto Jian Bu's back, pummeling him into the ground. They attacked him repeatedly until they finally stopped. They looked at each other and nodded, then approached the white-haired, staff-wielding monkey. One of the golden-sheen monkeys stretched out its left hand, holding a red fruit that resembled metal in texture. But as it moved its hand, it realized it couldn't stretch any further. Shock appeared in its eyes. It glanced at the other monkey, which also couldn't move its body. What had happened?

"You guys were strong opponents, but you fell for my formation trap. Using the other white-furred monkeys' blood, I formed a bloodline formation that suppresses others with the same bloodline. This formation is generally useless, but since you guys are from the same race, it's perfect. Though clearly, you guys are an evolved version, so I don't think it will hold you for long. I'll just make sure to swiftly send you to the afterlife."

Jian Bu's steps drew closer to the monkeys. His sword was drawn, and he was ready to strike the finishing blow. That's when the staff monkey started making noises, trying to communicate with Jian Bu. It couldn't speak the human tongue, and the other monkeys tried to send it signals, but it didn't listen. It kept trying to tell Jian Bu something. That's when Jian Bu sent it a transmission and taught the monkey the method to use the transmission technique. Anyone above the Foundation Establishment level with a certain level of intelligence could use this technique.

The white-furred staff monkey quickly got used to the technique and said, "Human, don't kill us! If you spare us, I can tell you a huge secret. But you have to promise you won't kill us!"

Jian Bu indifferently replied, "No matter what secrets you monkeys have, it shouldn't be enough to save your lives." His steps drew closer toward the monkeys.

The monkey panicked and said, "Our race has been guarding this mountain for generations. Our bloodlines have been cursed to not be able to leave this mountain due to a bet our ancestor lost. We are now guardians protecting the inheritance of an expert. I will lead you to the inheritance as long as you spare our lives!"

Jian Bu was inwardly excited but showed no expression on the outside. "I'm not very interested in a new inheritance. I'm already strong enough. But I am rather interested in that fruit with a metal sheen. Where did you find those? If you can give me a lot of those fruits, along with the inheritance, I will spare your lives."

The monkey had a complicated look on its face and said, "The fruits are all from the inheritance ground—that's our race's living place. I'll show you the way there. Just follow me."

Before anything else, Jian Bu unlocked the mouths of the two golden-sheen monkeys and said, "First, I want you guys to swear to the heavens that you will become my subordinates. Otherwise, I'll just take your lives right now."

The first golden-sheen monkey said, "We will never submit. You should just kill us."

The second golden-sheen monkey said, "I swear to the heavens that if I dare betray this human, I will die a gruesome death and never be able to reincarnate!"

The first monkey looked in shock at the second monkey and said, "YOU—"

"Bai Hou, calm down. Don't you think he resembles someone? Look carefully."

Bai Hou recollected himself and looked carefully at Jian Bu. Shock appeared on his face.

"I swear to the heavens that I will never betray this human. If I do, I will never be able to reincarnate!"

Jian Bu nodded, then looked at the white-furred monkey and said, "It's your turn!"

The monkey quickly swore to the heavens that it wouldn't betray Jian Bu. Jian Bu then removed the restrictions on the two golden-sheen monkeys. They followed the white-furred monkey, and three hours later, they finally arrived. This was a place with green vegetation, a weird contrast to the white snow surrounding it. There were dozens of trees bearing fruits, and white-furred monkeys were collecting them. Some were seen drinking wine and looking drunk.

The monkeys quickly noticed the white-furred monkey and the two golden-sheen monkeys. They also saw a human next to them, and their mouths snarled.

The white-furred staff monkey said something to them, and they calmed down.

"This is the inheritance place and also our race's habitat. These are the trees bearing the fruit, but these are younger trees. The thousand-year-old trees are further down the line—that's where the golden-sheen monkeys live. Follow me."

Jian Bu nodded and continued to follow the monkey. Soon, they arrived at the golden-sheen monkeys' habitat. Hundreds of golden-sheen monkeys surrounded them, demanding an answer.

Bai Hou then said, "Everyone, look at this human's face. You should understand."

The golden monkeys took a deeper look at Jian Bu, and their faces quickly changed. Some were excited, others in pure shock, and some monkeys started dancing. They were in a joyous mood.

Jian Bu was confused. Did they confuse me with someone else? His eyes moved around, looking at the monkeys and the surrounding area. They were now at the entrance of a cave. The walls shone with a metallic sheen, and the sky had darkened, but there was still light due to the field of luminous mushrooms in front of the cave. His eyes couldn't help but move upward. There was a statue—a tall man holding a sword in his hand. The sword emanated a level of bloodlust only possible after killing countless beings. Who knows how many lives were lost to that sword? The sword was not made of stone; it was a real treasure. The handle looked like it was made of scales, and the metal was white. Jian Bu wasn't even sure if it was metal because of how white it was. It gave off the imperial aura of a dragon. His gaze moved to the face of the statue. It was a little blurry, but he couldn't help but be shocked because that face looked just like his—though, upon closer inspection, it only resembled him about 70%. This person was older.

Jian Bu's face now showed understanding. He channeled his bloodline energy, and the stone statue turned real, jumping down gracefully. It was now a statue of flesh and blood. It approached Jian Bu and said, "Nine lights. Good, good. My clan still has an outstanding progeny. What is your name, young man?"

"My name is Jian Bu," said Jian Bu, his face a mix of shock and excitement.

"Jian Bu, not a bad name, hahaha! I know you probably have a lot of questions about this ancestor, but this is all you need to know for now. I am not on this continent. The main force of our Jian Clan has moved to the Eastern Sword Continent, and we only left our seeds here to protect our ancestral ground until Little Heaven recovers. Our clan has many enemies and is in a precarious situation. There are some secrets I can't tell you because your strength is not enough. I will now teach you the main clan techniques and also my personal inheritance. Do you accept?"
